I love the little neighborhood markets throughout all of Barcelona. Each one seems to have very loyal clienteles, and many have been around for generations. Each neighborhood also seems to have it's own "mercado," more of an open-air affair with numerous stalls competing for the same customer base - so freshness, quality and price are paramount. We're fortunate enough to live a block away from this one, which comes with the added bonus of being physically connected to a smallish Carrefours... so we can get the best of the fresh produce, meats and cheeses, and then the packaged or dried goods - all under one roof.
