I liked it a lot. Our server was very friendly and professional. They bring chips and salsa right away. They were good. I ordered chicken/steak fajitas. Since this is an authentic Mexican restaurant, they do not give cheese and salsa for the fajitas. Normally I ask for extra of these items but here, I didn't need them. The steak and chicken were good. I have had better, but would be happy to order them again if I lived near this restaurant. The rice and beans were okay. Not bad but have had better many times. Dad got the #27 which is a beef burrito and enchilada. I believe this is all he orders here. He loves it. This restaurant is very reasonably priced. Funny enough, they sell airheads and sour candy and other candy as well when you leave. That is a first that I have seen. The owner had stopped by and said he owns 7 of these around South Carolina. It is always nice to support locally owned restaurants.

The chips were far too hard, clearly not made onsite. Salsa had some spice to it. Ranch was just a strange thing to give out with chips. Complimentary water jug was interesting, but the cork cap was rather heavy waterlogged which makes me wonder about what may grow there with time. The Smokey Paloma was a nice presentation, but the smoke didn't have any Smokey smell. Tastewise it was good enough but the glass had a chip in the rim. The drowned tamal was ok for what it was. Refried Beans were not traditional Mexican style, rice was so-so. Salad on top was a bit weird to me, I prefer it to the side. I ordered the guacamole as a side, which was actually plentiful and pretty good. It's a bit too Tex Mex to call real Mexican. I may try again some time, but the screaming appliance squeal was not great, nor were the booth seats that were uncomfortable backed.

Chavelas has it's own private parking along the side of their building. They offer limited seating outdoor (which is covered) and ample seating indoor with both booth, tabletop, and Bartop options. It's football season, but dont worry as Chavelas has several T.V.'s for your viewing pleasure throughout the restaraunt and at the bar. The restaraunt is always clean which is one thing I always admire about here, they truly care at Chavella's. Lets talk food!! Today I ordered the Chavella's Special which is "a little bit of everything"; absolutely hit the spot!! The menu has all your favorites and some new ones you didn't know about, but be sure to look at the "Specials board" at the front as you walk in. Chavella's offers your normal fountain drinks, Jarritos (my favorite), Horchata, and many others. The full bar can bring a smile as well whether it's a beer, Michelangelo, or their own Sangria!!! If you are loving the fall weather and are looking for soup try their Carne En Su Jugo, it's one of their specials and for a great reason. Ask for their "House hot sauce" if you want a bit more Ying; it's soooooooo goooooooooood and not overbearing. If you make it into South Carolina, and find yourself close to Elgin, be sure to make Chavella's one of your planned stops.
