Always remember that you don't have to hire the doctor you were referred to. Milwaukee has been respected as a center for heart medicine for decades and there are several high quality cardiovascular centers in the area, all top-notch. That said, I was referred to CMH some years ago mostly for the convenience. By my choice, I remain under the care of the specialists here in the Heart and Vascular Center who are doing their best to keep my sludge pump working. It's a separate clinic, in its own wing, attached to the hospital. If you are referred here, you can expect a warm, welcoming environment. From the valet parking attendants to the physicians, and everyone in between, you will be treated by professionals with warm respect. I admit, it took awhile for some of them to get used to my strange sense of humor but by now, they all laugh along with me. Receptionists, schedulers, test techs, nurses, laboratory assistants, doctors, even the folks who mop the floor and empty the wastebaskets are all the very best at what they do. They are all dedicated to your comfort and care. Incidentally, CMH was recently ranked as one of the top 250 hospitals in the United States by an independent research firm. Front desk staff acted as if they never have heard of this "free consultation". They said that it goes towards the doctors consultation fee if no treatments are purchased. Bottom Line: The initial consultation is not free. Essentially, it costs $100 to sit down with the doctor. Wouldn't go there unless you are ready to commit to treatment otherwise your $100 will just go out the window.

Use South Entrance to access this office. The reception staff are very nice and helpful. The NP is really nice. I see Dr Li. She's new to the area but experienced. It's easy to get an appointment with her since she hasn't built up her patient caseload yet. This office runs on time like clockwork. It took several days to get my order for testing into the system (which is long, but I forgive her since she is new and learning the computer system). The NP put the order in for me. So it all worked out. Otherwise, very happy with this clinic.

After listening to him go on continuously about how terrible my legs looked and how he couldn't believe how young I was to be having such awful issues (visually only- I have no pain from my veins)... he stated "it's really a shame too, because you have such nice legs". I did not appreciate nor feel comfortable during my appointment.

The appointments are on time, the staff are friendly, and the facility is always clean! There is a Lab/X-ray center on the same floor (it shares a waiting room) which is extremely convenient if your doctor orders any tests. There has only been one occasion I had to go to a separate facility, but that was for a unique blood test. An advantage to the Wheaton system is they offer online scheduling, emailing with your doctor, prescription refill request, etc. through a program called "MyChart". I work weird hours, so this has been especially helpful for managing things I don't have time for during regular business hours. Also, I've been able to get results faster on my own without having to come to the office.
