Within two days of her passing we had the most beautiful mass at St. Raphael's Church in Livingston, then to Gates of Heaven in East Hanover with a 40 car motorcade, where the Livingston Police Department helped us stay together at the Livingston circle. Our dear parents/parents-in-law passed away within two hours of one another, and from the Leber staff's very first interactions with the family, we knew we were in the best of hands. Every single person that we or our siblings emailed or met during this painful time was warm, kind, compassionate, and patient. The funeral home itself is beautiful, tasteful, and comfortable. It really did FEEL like a home, with several seating areas for conversations and water and coffee available during the entire wake. The staff turned our family photos into banners, a large poster, a wonderful slideshow, laminated cards, a lovely keepsake leaflet for all the guests, and even a blanket (!) that brightened the room and added so much color and personality. They took care of every detail, including submitting to the local newspapers the obituaries the family had written. They directed the pall bearers expertly both at the church service and at the burial site. Everything was done with such care and compassion from beginning to end and we can't thank them enough.

They promised us a tv screen in the overflow room during our wake service for my dad. The overflow room was completely packed with absolutely no tv so they just sat there and heard nothing. During the funeral procession drive, half the cars got disconnected. When a family member called them for guidance, Maryann responded very rudely telling us that we're supposed to be at a different cemetery (which was INACCURATE!). She was trying to direct us with the wrong funeral information. Whenever I called to get logistical information squared away bc my siblings and I were getting conflicting information from her, she was EXTREMELY condescending trying to tell me that I was the confused one. She also told me she sent things to my brother via email which was plain FALSE! Omg, this lady is in the wrong line of business. No one should speak to a grieving family like that. And you need to get your facts straight with the deaths. If you're too overwhelmed then you need to book what you can handle. Sounds like Maryann is the confused one...on top of being down right rude, condescending, and negligent. My condolences to all grieving families....it's hard enough to lose a loved one but do yourself a favor and find yourself another funeral home.

When people are grieving, they rely on the funeral home to explain the process, discuss available options, and make sure nothing important is overlooked. Instead, I felt that essential information was withheld unless I specifically asked the right questions--questions that someone with no experience arranging funeral services would not even know to ask. I expected guidance, compassion, and clear communication, but unfortunately, that was not my experience. Families should be able to trust that they are being fully informed without having to guess what questions to ask.
