We were initially referred to Hector (owner) & his team by our pool builder (JM Pools) to do all the masonry, tile, decking, lighting, plants, etc. In the pool building world, there's so many horror stories about going over budget, prolonged waiting, expectations vs reality, etc. We didn't experience any of that working with Hector. Quite the opposite. We came in exactly on budget, finished earlier than expected, & we are absolutely thrilled with the results. I had a decent idea of what I wanted but Hector gave excellent suggestions on multiple design choices. I'm pretty picky when it comes to details & Hector never steered us wrong. His guys were always on time, very polite, never left work unfinished, & were genuinely talented at their craft. If you are thinking about building a pool or doing a similar type project, DEFINITELY give Blue Jay Construction a call. You won't regret it!

I had an excellent experience with Jose Roofing Repairs…read more I received several other estimates but I went with Jose Roofing Repairs because I find Jose an honest person and I trusted him from our first meeting. Jose and his staff were kind, courteous and professional. I was impressed by the short time it took and the quality of work put into the job from the start to finish. They did an amazing job in cleaning the debris after the work was done. I recommend Jose Roofing Repairs to anyone who needs a roof replacement or roof repair job. A. Zandi

I interviewed and recommended RNJ Concrete after an exhaustive search for a small concrete project…read morefor a client of mine in Atwater Village. Though small in scope, the project involved pouring a pair of steps that had a complicated edge detail which would allow water to run off the edge and protect a line of tile that was to be fastened to the front face of the riser below. In the initial interview, Pablo had a very clear concept of how he wanted to approach the project, and his bid came in a very timely manner and was quite reasonable. Pablo and his father set about to do the work and provide us with what we'd requested, in a thoughtful and careful way. When water forced the forms they made to swell and crack the edge detail, they immediately identified the problem, repaired the damaged edge, and the finished step looked even better than I could have imagined. They were easy to work with, clear in their communication, and responsive to repeated calls and texts with a problem arose. RNJ Concrete is the kind of contractor or you want to work with when you know you can't always guarantee a particular outcome and need a skilled partner to make sure the job gets done. I look forward to working with them again on our next project.

While I never met Mark (my wife was home when he came foe the repairs), every time I spoke with him on the phone he was very personable, reliable and understanding. We had a minor leak from the roof during the torrential rains from a couple months back. After getting an initial quote from the insurance company, who wouldn't fix it because it was less than our deductible, we reached out to Mark. He promptly scheduled a date to come diagnose the problem, before the rain continued. He gave me an "easy fix" quote and a "worse case scenario" quote, which were both extremely reasonable, but he couldn't tell exactly how much it would be until he got underneath all our tarping to clearly see what was happening. Both of the quotes were within about $300 so it wasn't like the worst case scenario was exorbitant. He explained his schedule was kind of tight at the moment but said he would call me when he knee he could come by to do the repairs on the roof. In fact, he called me a few days later and we scheduled a time the following day. He came by in the morning, started the work and when he finished and spoke with my wife, the balance due was less than his original "easy fix quote," and definitely significantly less than the insurance company quote. Mark was very trustworthy, reliable and a very nice person. I recommend calling him for all your roof repair work. I know I will if I ever need repairs again. You can thank me later.

When we hired this company years ago, they were great. I recommended them to anyone and everyone…read more It's very disappointing what they've become. Last Summer, we hired AV Roofing to fix our roof. We had just done a cash-out refinance to make all repairs on the house. We pretty much said "fix the roof so it doesn't leak anymore." They came out and redid half of the front of our home. We also hired them to make sure the area our solar panels were going in was sound. It was a good chunk of change, but that was what the money was for. However, the exact same spot that always leaked started leaking again after the very first rain a couple months after they were done. We were under warranty but they wanted to charge us to clean out the channels that they had just redone. They had even cut back the tree when they were working, so I couldn't understand how it had gotten full of leaves and caused another leak in just a couple of months. But they did eventually come out and fix it for free. Then the tropical storm hit this summer. A new leak sprouted in a brand new area, but just a few feet away from the original leak. A bad one. It tore a three foot-wide hole in the ceiling in my office. I waited a coupe weeks after the storm, figuring everybody was calling about leaks after that storm. However, I was still told it would be three weeks before they would have someone out in our area just to do an estimate. After a couple of weeks, I had to reach out to find out if we had a date for the estimate. That's when they suddenly had an opening the next day and if I couldn't take that, it wouldn't be for another couple weeks. Even though we asked them last summer to just make sure the roof was good, they still said the new leak wasn't covered. I didn't want to keep going with them, but they were the cheapest estimate I got (having spent all our re-fi money on other repairs after we thought we got the roof fixed), so I signed the proposal on 10/24. I was told they were scheduling for November and Early December. I emailed several times and was told I'm not on the schedule yet. Last time I made contact I was told "...looks more like the week of December 11th or 18th." Well, it's the 20th of December and still absolute silence from them. I've gone ahead and signed a contract with another roofer. Waiting for AV Roofing now means I don't have a fix date until March, but at least I have a date!
