My rideshare was right around the corner and I had a few minutes to spare. So I thought why not I should get Menchie's since it 9 degrees outside. I had the pistachio, Oreo and cheesecake. The only flavor that tasted valid was the pistachio. The two others lacked flavor. The owner was kind and greeted me. They have an "okay" selection of frozen yogurt. Wide variety of toppings: candy, warm syrup, sprinkles, chocolate, candies and fruit. I forgot how expensive these type of places . The friend of the owner put her fingers in the strawberries which was a turn off. Plus there are many signs all over that say to use the tongs. read more

It is a really nice place for summer, when you are craving for ice cream but want something lighter in calories. While the variety for frozen yoghurt flavours at this place is moderate, the variety for toppings is sooo great - from salty pretzels to sweet mochi. The price is calculated per grams of product you get so you can adjust as you like - which is great for people like me that can almost never finish their food. I would give a higher rating if the service was more friendly because the guy who was at cash was rude and seemingly didn't liked that we dined it (he wouldn't stop staring at me and my friend so we just decided to eat outside). It was a while ago so I hope if I go there next time I will get better customer service. read more

I am adamant that this is one of the best yogurt I had so far. The best part is u get to taste them first prior to buying, how cool! It was extremely warm today, I almost got burnt! Nothing beats an icy dessert and menchie's fills my thought! My first and the yogurt impressed me greatly. Not knowing the ritual, the lady at the cashier counter explain the flow slowly. I was thrilled to learn that I could do a taste test on all the flavors before committing to a few! There's nothing like this back in Singapore. And menchie's frozen yogurt makes all the difference! The favourite among all the testers, I prefer the following few flavors: - pure chocolate - peanut butter - cookies & cream The rest are either too gummy or quirky - blue raspberry, purely tart; or are very acquired in taste - piña colada or too sweet for my liking - French vanilla, food cake. Red velvet royal didn't outshine the rest while the ripe red strawberry was way too tangy. I love to try maple bacon donut, pumpkin, taro or even smurfberry, but they ain't available at this outlet. I probably need to get to another one in the States middle of this month to try them all. I topped my yogurt cup with mainly nuts: - cap 'n crunch - walnuts - peanut butter chips - chocolate sprinkles - Oreos while leaving out a load of others; white chocolate chips, mini chocolate malt balls, Milk chocolate caramel turtles, cap 'n crunchberries and others. I didn't add any fresh fruits to it since I m such a nutty professor! I then drizzle a few drops of sugar free fat free chocolate fudge to balanced up the sweetness in the yogurt. This yogurt won praises! I loved its creamier, smooth texture with rich and more harmonious tasting. The flavors and texture were memorable and it wasn't too cloying sweet which didn't dehydrate me further under the hot sunny day. Super yummy and no wonder it has been packed at all times! If u are first timer like myself, tell briefly run it through: select the size of your cup, go grab those empty mini taster cups to begin the testing round, then add the flavors in whatever quantity u deem right, top it up with fresh fruits, nuts, chips, syrup and bring the filled container to the cashier. The content will be weighed and all you need is to pay and tuck in! They added $0.55+ tax for each ounce, mine weighed 150gram approximately and I was billed for $3.60. The tag may not be small but its premium taste is penny's worth!! Menchie's as a whole is a great place and I would recommend going with the entire family if you have the opportunity. However, JUST DO NOT GO TO THIS ONE! I believe this location is under new ownership, and the owners are terrible. Let me start with the sample cups. Given the number of ever changing flavours, sample cups are to be provided. These new owners will hand you one angrily and ONLY one! Forcing anyone without even noticing, to possibly contaminate other yogurt spouts with their dirty sample cup that they have had on their mouth. When I told the owner that he was required to give me a new cup, he refused. FILTHY. This place and the machines are disgusting. The counters, walls and floors are unwashed. I most recently went 30 mins after opening. The candy and fruit trays look like they are never clean, there are dried spills from one topping into others, the gummy bears had a black substance in them that I am hoping were crumbs from Oreo cookies. However, I did NOT allow my child any candy or fruit toppings. The orders are never right when ordering smoothies and they get angry with you as if you have made the error. The drinks are also made in the back which I do not trust given the poor conditions of the front of the store. I go to a Menchies once or twice a month in the summer and all across Canada as I often travel. I am so disappointed with this location entirely. Its a shame that it is in the heart of downtown in the Capital of Canada, which I can only assume is high traffic. I cant imagine the impression this gives to others especially trying this company for the first time! read more

Delicious frozen yogurt from here is perfect on a hot day! Not all flavours are good though, so try to sample them before you get them in your cup. There are lots of fun toppings, and its nice to sit in a cold place with AC when it's very hot out! read more

Its finally open!!!! I don't think it has been open a week yet but I've been there twice. Its an addiction. I love love love self serve froyo and this place does a great job of it. The way it works is you pick up your cup and make a counter-clockwise circle around the yogurt/toppings. Pretty straight forward, but nobody explained it to me. But I don't care, its too good. I got the green apple tart, original tart, and creamsicle. There are two flavors per machine and they give you the option of swirling them or just getting them individually. I swirled the apple tart and original tart and then threw some creamsicle on top. The both times I was there they had red velvet cupcake, creamsicle, green apple tart, regular tart, chocolate, lemon meringue pie, peanut butter, peach sorbet and some other types I'm forgetting. The creamsicle was sugar free but you'd never know, it was awesome! The two tarts were also amazing, and well, tart. They have different yogurt options like low in fat, kosher, sugar free, etc. Something for everyone! After picking your yogurt, the topping station is ridiculous. The amount of toppings they have is amazing. To name a few: mochi (I don't know what this is but they had a few types), lychee and mango bobba, different fruits such as kiwi, cherries, strawberries etc. Chocolate rocks, nerds, those egg candies, gummy bears, gummy worms, oreo cookies, chocolate chips. Then there was chocolate sauce and a few different types of sauces I didn't pay attention to. I settled on lychee bobba, nerds, oreos and gummy bears. A winning combination let me tell you. My yogurt was filled to the very top and came to $8. I was pleased with this price seeing as I recall paying close to $10 for the same thing at Spoon. Sigh. More fro-yo in Ottawa, yay! Overall, I prefer this Menchie's location to the one on Merivale--they have a larger area for snackage and other toppings, which is great. However, when it's busy, and it will be this summer, there can be a bit of a back up at the yogurt station if people are sampling everything and not making up their mind, which makes it pretty cramped. Awesome toppings here: fruit, candy, cookies, chocolate chips, nuts, candy, sauces. They had animal crackers which totally made my day (also the peanut butter sauce that was super yummy). Even though the place was pretty busy the staff were still able to greet us. They were friendly and prompt, especially when the line to pay got long, they were quick to get through everyone. Unfortunately, it was my first experience at Menchies and it was not a good one. The employee greeted me, asked if it was my first time at Menchies I said it was and her reply was fill a container with whatever you like, weigh it and pay. I had no idea where to start, what to put in and what was what (the ice cream flavors ?) So I ended up not filling it with a whole lot, fruit bubbles and vanilla ice cream - I say ice cream because what I ended up with in no way tasted like frozen yogurt, it had the consistency and taste of soft ice cream. I went to the cash, weighed my container and the girl says 8.56$ ! Needless to say I was shocked and incredibly disappointed with my experience at Menchies. Since the FroYo craze has finally hit Ottawa, I decided to give Menchie's a try. When it comes to self-serve frozen yogurt, I'm a simple gal. I like the tartest yogurt with lots and lots of fruit. Menchie's does offer a tasty tart yogurt (which won't break the bank when it comes to calories) along with a wide range of other flavours to choose from. There was fresh fruit to add to my yogurt, but I wasn't blown away by the range of toppings offered - nothing tempted me to branch out the way that some places have in the past. Solid, but nothing special. The decor is cute, though, and with a lot of Smurfs-themed stuff available I thought it might be a fun place to take kids (though I would want to know if I could get a smaller bowl to keep them from going overboard.) Glad to have Menchie's as an option downtown, I'm sure I'll be visiting again. read more

When I heard that it had opened near me, I was super excited. All of my friends who lived in Peterborough and places like that said that it was great, that it was the best fro-yo they had ever had, etc etc etc. Unfortunately, my experience was not the same. The Menchies near me had just opened, but even so I expected more than just 2 kinds of chocolate- red velvet, and just plain chocolate. Their website tells of many different kinds, including low fat and sugar free. That should have been my first sign. I chose the red velvet and a few toppings, including mini marshmallows, cookie crumbs, strawberry chunks and chocolate sauce. First of all: The yogurt: it tasted like bleach. That is the nicest thing I can say about it. I had gotten over a bad cold and been alright for a few days, and I ate this "fro-yo" and I got such a bad sore throat again that it hurt to swallow luke-warm tea. It had hard chunks of ice in it, and the entire fro yo experience has put me off for a lifetime. The toppings: the mini marshmallows were stale, the cookie crumbs were stuck together, the strawberry bits were brown, and the chocolate sauce tasted like wax. The cost: it was $12 for a small cup with 4 toppings on it. All in all, it was a very bad experience and I can no longer enjoy any kind of fro-yo. It's an insult to fro-yo. read more

SO happy menchies finally came to Ottawa. Dairy Queen is extremely overpriced for the product they give, it's not even good. This is a better and healthier alternative. Like dairy queen it's also pricey but not as much. I go almost every time I'm downtown. Something good to look forward too! read more
