This place has hands down the worst customer service. I bought something and when I got to the car I notice it was not in good shape. Went back in to exchange the item since there was other well it was gone supposedly there were four in stock. Well there inventory was apparently wrong. I asked for the display model and was denied because they had more coming in and they won't ship another to my house for no cost. I don't have a lot of time to be running back and forth. This place is overpriced and they don't offer a military discount not even on Veterans Day this is why I chose to shop at Homedept or Lowes. read more

Wotta great place! If you can't find it here, they don't make it. Few things were over priced, but most everything I googled was well under retail price. And the majority of folks were very helpful. Above review is if I had GOTTEN THE REBATE!!! Add me to the list of folks who got hosed by Menards over not getting the rebate. I was talking a friend out of going there, and he said I had given a good yelp review. Damn! So going back in. I have heard from a LOT OF PEOPLE that the rebates just don't come through. And from past experience, these type of scabs count on folks just saying oh well, too much trouble to follow up. What a lot of people don't know is, Menards and all other places that do rebates, contract the work out, the contractor says they will send checks to rebate requests, and the company, like Menards, reimbursed the contractor that sends out the rebate checks. What ends up happening is, the rebate company will hold back a percentage of the rebate requests. Upping their margins. And the company like Menards, stays at arms length from the transaction. I will NEVER SHOP AT MENARDS AGAIN!!! If the company doesn't process rebates at the register, then they are trying to hose the customers. And my time is more valuable than the $15 that was the rebate. But definitely my time is worth giving Menards a lousy review, and doing all I can to steer people to Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

I special ordered vinyl siding to finish a project. The closest Menards was a 90 minute drive. But the promised order pickup date was a week sooner than other suppliers. The order came in 4 days early fantastic! Being a Menard's Virgin I had no idea how to pickup the order. I went in the main entrance and went to the Customer Service Desk. The lady was extremely friendly and asked if I had the order confirmation email. I said yes and she directed me to the security gate at the lumber yard. I showed the young man my order number on my Gizmo and he directed me to the order pickup area. I was in and out within 20 minutes! A fantastic experience! Their lumber yard and building supply yard is humongous! If you are within a 90 minute drive of a Menards...GO! read more

Drove 5 hours to get the Menard's and didn't regret a minute of it :) We had to pick up some items for a construction project going on at the house and Menard's had the best prices online but unfortunately their shipping was taking longer than we liked, so we hopped in the van and went for a drive. The drive up was beautiful and the best part was how easily we found Menard's! The store is HUGE! It's like the Costco of home improvement with items packed through out the store. Honestly, we were too exhausted to shop around but the little bit that we did, we were greeted by smiling faces and warm helpful employees. The prices on most of their items were similar to the Lowe's and Home Depots here but the particular items we needed, they couldn't be beat! When we arrived, we were quickly instructed to go to the back for pick and our jaws immediately dropped at the miles of inventory this place had. It was the easiest pick up process and we were done! Took us 5 hours to get there and less than 30 min to complete the process! I can't say we will be making the trip again any time soon but I would recommend this place to the locals who have never been. read more

Never again. I have only been in Menards a couple of times. Some times were okay. However the last one is just that. When I entered the building I was ask if I had a mask. When I said no I was then told I had to have one (even though I can not medically wear one) and if I did not have one I could buy one from them. Needless to say I turned around and left. I went to Home Depot and made my $300 purchase there. I won't be back to this place even if they tell me my 11% rebate from my first trip is there to pick up. Super Walmart meets Home Depot. That is exactly what I thought when I walked in for the first time. Seriously. Their food selection is decent but it's main focus is not "grocery store." It's more like you just want to browse and possibly grab some basic staples. They have everything from carpeting and light fixtures to tea and coffee with cookies. There is just so much. It's worth a visit every now and then, but I wouldn't hang out here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store clean and neat, just busy for the eyes. There is so much to take in, that it can be overwhelming. I hate check out. It's weird and the cashier has her back to you most of the time. You bag your own stuff. This place is horrible. This is the catch: half the stuff is at a discounted price BUT ONLY after a mail rebate. You often do not see it until they ring you up. The cash registers are butt backwards. Bought 2 light fixtures. Both had previously been purchased and returned. The one fixture had a broken globe. The other had no instructions. Btw, patriot lighting has no website. We were unable to find the instructions online. Fortunately my husband was able to get it installed without the instructions. Both lights are cheap quality. I leave both positive and negative reviews. This Menards trip was is certainly negative. I drove an hour and a half because it was the closest and I had a gift card. I started with picking out 116 boards for $1.65 each. Mind you the price was stapled to the display boards. I went to pay for them, with about $3k of other boards, and they rang up $1.72. I asked the kid to look at the sign on the display that was 15' up in the air. And I offered to pay the $1.65 price it was marked. She said she can't due that. I asked her to ask her boss. Her dept manager came over and said "no". I asked why. She said she could not sell it at the marked price because they had an 11% sale so I could have one or the other. What? I couldn't believe her careless explanation. I told her I had a truck bed and a 18' trailer to fill with deck boards and two bys. I added that I drove a long way to get there. She again said "I have to use the computer price not the price marked". I asked her if she was going to loose a + $3k order over $8. She said "yup" and walked away. Think twice about making a large purchase to get the 11% rebate. I spent $23,000 on kitchen cabinets, appliances, and countertops and my rebate process has been aweful. I'm still trying to get what is owed to me ($2,391.88) over 10 weeks after submitting the required rebate form and rebate receipt. I looked online today and it finally shows they've processed a rebate, but it's only for $556!! There is no phone number to call the rebate center, and their email responses are slow, if they manage to respond at all. VERY VERY disappointing. read more

Terrible! I order 4 containers of candy but they arrived in a box that was too small for the containers so they had to be smashed into the box. Additionally there was no padding to protect the containers AND they were placed in the box on their sides which added to their frailty. Of course every container was not only broken but the contents were spilled out. I had to throw the entire contents out. Absolutely terrible packaging for shipping! Terribly unsanitary and totally unusable! These were to be used as gifts but now they can't be due to the condition in which they arrived! Prices higher. If they are lower its by a few bucks which Home Depot or Lowes will match. They don't match prices and most services and sales come with a rebate. The REBATE is really a store credit, mailed to you months later on a post card that can be seen and stolen by anyone that sees them. Definition of REBATE: pay back (such a sum of money) for some service or merchandise; partial refund. Definition of store credit: a ​piece of ​paper given by a ​shop that ​allows you to ​buy other ​goods of the same ​value! This store takes, and keeps taking your money by underLYING schemes. Apparently Menards is known for this because if you read social media, other states are suing them and even in Ohio, Toledo has had issues. Buyer beware, don't go there!! read more

We were very unhappy with our experience at this Menard's. I ordered retaining wall blocks and came back to pick up the order with a truck. They loaded all 80 of the blocks and I thought all was well. Trusting the yard guys (at least that one) was clearly a mistake, as it turned out he loaded 20 blocks that didn't match the other 60. My husband discovered this after he had worked for hours to level them properly-- they were 4 inch blocks, not 3 1/2, like we ordered. So back I went to Menards. (Third trip, if anyone is counting.) One associate told me, "Oh yeah, some of those pallets have 4 inch blocks mixed in with the others." So I decided to buy 8 to match the 20 we had laid on one side of our flowerbed. This didn't work either... another associate reluctantly looked through the pallet and found no 4-inch blocks. Come to find out, between my husband and another manager's sleuthing, that they had given us 20 blocks of a line that is discontinued! Seriously?! I was told to bring back the 20 and exchange them. Which I did, today, and asked both for a refund on the 8 extra blocks I bought (I got that) and on the 20 blocks they incorrectly loaded. No go on the second. It would mess up the rebate, they said. Never mind it was THEIR mistake in the first place and I made four trips back and forth. Nope. Just a feeble apology for their inadequate service! At least writing this makes me feel a bit better. Go to Lowes, people. I've always loved them, and now I know why. None of this crap. read more

I ordered a door to match the other 8 doors we had previously ordered and had shipped from Menards. Note there were no issues with the first 8, so I did not have to deal with customer service. After traveling 5 hours to get to the store, the door I ordered and the one I received were not even close. The building materials manager agreed immediately that it wasn't the right door and he took pictures and information and sent it to the manufacturer. Said he would call me later that day or the next day. So we left there and went back home with no door and the feeling we'd get a door delivered. Well no phone call, so I called, Yep the manufacturer acknowledged the mistake but any compensation is the stores responsibility. Hmmm, maybe he should've already known that.... I asked about delivery and compensation... sure delivery would be my responsibility +$200 and compensation for their error was $30. I opted for a refund and no door. So when the refund came through they deducted an in-store-only rebate for 11%. So currently I spent gas and time to get the door and on top of that they charged me the 11% rebate on the door. And I have no door and an additional expense of $17. After multiple calls and no promised return calls I find out I have to contact the rebate company to see if they can maybe cancel it. The Menards customer interface are trained very well, they are polite, understanding, and listen well, without really resolving the issue the customer is having. read more

loved this place when i worked in peoria, & when it 1st opened here! now, not so much, customer service is gone totally in the sewer! associate tells me " pardon me for cussing at you, i have low blood sugar, i don't know what i'm saying sometimes" really!?!?! prepaid special order, waited 3 weeks for phone call or email that my item was in, uhuh, nata! had to go in person with my receipt for them to find it. if you call to inquire about anything, expect to be on hold 8-17 minutes between, "let me put you on hold blurbs" i dont know where the proactive, helpful staff went, but they are gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! may cost more anywhere else, but its less stressful! cost less is not always better, warren menards is business model for that! read more

I really enjoy shopping at Menards, but haven't been there in over a year! I inquired several times over a period of about 18 months asking if the possibility existed of obtaining a few additional mobility carts? The Warren, Ohio store has two (when working) and both are in frequent use. The store is large and no way I can shop without using one. The last few times I was there, no cart available. Twice, one was out of service. Menards has done nothing to address the issue! Very disappointed! Wal-Mart can have a dozen or more available. Giant Eagle has had eight or more! Customer concern? The items we bought were a great price but it seems they only did it to scam the customer. We canceled order and they would only give us store credit. Great place for everything from snacks to a shed to home supplies. Every employee has been more than eager to help which is different from other home improvement stores. My parents bought carpet from this store on April 11, 2016 for the two bedrooms. The gentleman in the carpet department told them this was really good carpet so they felt confident they were purchasing a quality product. In July my mom was sweeping and she noticed the carpet snagged. They contacted Menards and was told by Brandon that this was a cheap product. My parent filled out a complaint form with Menards and Brenda, from guest services, sent a letter to Mohawk on October 12. No carpet should snag after three months. No customer should be told by the store associate when purchasing the product it's "quality" and then be told by another store associate that it is "cheap" when there are issues.It really makes one think that this is not the place to shop and spend money. It is now late November and NO ONE has contacted my parents about this from Mohawk OR follow up from Menards. Think twice when buying an expensive product from any store. Spent "4 hours" maybe more and it was the SHOPPING EXPERIENCE WE NEVER HAD ANYWHERE and it was HUGE. The prices were ON SPOT. I know for we googled them and we bought home improvements for winter for our home, 2 small appliances and food. We walked in and spent 20 minutes just looking at things that they had either on sale, or were showcasing and I got a stand for my IPad that fits my IPone for $5 and it was the color of both my Otter Box and IPad case. We were very happy to find out that the coffee maker (REMINGTON) that was on sale for a very very low price had a "$15 REBATE" as well. It was in the box!!!!! Oh, by the way, the people are awesome. We are going back for sure. Check out is a breeze and the buggies are big enough for everything. The restrooms were very clean and so was the store. WOW you should see what they had for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas (probably have more for Christmas soon). Things such as the smallest battery to the larges appliance and outdoor supplies like generators and of course a Garden Supply center. Lighting. Pillows and bed covers. You Name It. 'Caution' in using Contractors who have left their business cards for referral (in 'Building Materials'), and, whereby were recommended over the phone by Menard's. Recommending a contractor or accepting their business card for display is ONLY beneficial to a consumer as long as YOUR LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT WITH YOUR EXPERIENCE AGAINST THAT RECOMMENDED CONTRACTOR IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY MENARD'S. IT WAS NOT. On 12/10/15 Spoke with one of GM of store about not only the issues encountered, & stating all the costly expenses my 91 yr. old parents have incurred because of this contractor, I (daughter), was told that it's up to the consumer to check out the contractor. When she (GM) said she would have to check it out, & it appeared that my complaint was NOT being taken by Menard's GMgr, I then asked her to repeat what I told her....SHE COULD NOT!! Approximately 2 wks. ago, recommended contractor was contacted by my parents regarding installation of a glass sliding door we had seen at Menard's, but not yet purchased. Contractor went to their home, measured where the door was to be installed, and gave them an installation price, and said he could pickup the door. Later that same day, I had conversation with the contractor to verify specifics about job. I said to him, "This is a six foot door, so it's OK to order it?" His response was, "Yes, it will fit, I measured it." When he went to Menard's to pickup the door , it would not fit in his truck/van, so he called to say he could not pickup the door. Thus, my parents absorbed a $49 delivery fee. Once the door was delivered, the SIX FOOT DOOR WOULD NOT FIT! SO NOW, my parents had to pay another delivery charge of $49 for Menard's to pickup the 6ft. door and deliver the 5 ft. door. (which all of this delayed scheduled installation multiple times). Now, scheduled time for installation was moved to Thur., 12/10/15 between 9:30/10am. At 10:32am, my parents called to say the contractor did not show up yet. When I called the contractor to find out what was going on, he said he was there at 9am this morning, knocked on the door, rang the door bell (which is no fault of his that the door bells don't work), and said that he called my parents number, but there was no answer. HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO CALLS ON MY PARENTS PHONE OR RECORDER FROM HIM. read more

We bought approximately $2,500.00 worth of flooring and half is so bowed and warped that we can not possibly use it with out compromising our floors. Menard's discontinued it because it is junk and after installing at least half of our floors, their only solution is to rip every thing up and bring it all back in to get a refund !!!! By the way it was about 36 boxes of flooring. Don't forget all the underlayment, tape and transition strips. I guess our time is not worth anything. If zero or negative stars was an option they would get the worst score possible. I purchased a special order pole building and my entire experience was an absolute nightmare. They took my money with a smile, but when it came time to take delivery, they screwed up just about every aspect of my order. My POLE building didn't include the POLES as part of their kit! I had to pay almost $2000 out of pocket for 18 6x6x22' posts. I spent hours and hours on the phone with the building materials manager complaining about the ridiculousness of the situation, only to be offered zero solutions. That was their biggest screw up of my project so far, but their have been many others along the way. Their special orders department is a dumpster fire. They WILL screw up your order. My roof needed 6 10 foot long ridge caps, and they sent (and charged me for) 60! It took me 4 hours and a full tank of gas to load up and return their mistake. Associate employees that I would speak with would tell me how poorly run their store is, and that the managers routinely blow off customer complaints. My project is already nearly $3000 over budget and it is 100% due to MENARDS MISTAKES! If my pole building wasn't already halfway built, I would return every last item I purchased and never give them another penny as long as I live. I have all the paperwork to prove everything I just stated, I welcome anyone to message me about my situation. I could talk all day about how terrible this company is.
