We visited Menard's again during our vacation in Minocqua, WI. Rhinelander is considered the 'big city' trip just to break up some of the time in the Island City. Menard's is always very well-stocked, clean, and a big offering of anything that is seasonal, this time it was Halloween and the start of Christmas. Lots of neat home decor items. Also, they have a great selection of jeans, light jackets, heavy jackets, and Gloves, and everything outerwear that you would need in the North Woods. All of it at very respectable prices. read more

I recently finished building my 28x40 stick built garage and I must say it was absolutly flawless. I am forever grateful for Tim C at Rhinelander Menards building materials, for guiding me thru my perfect garage. From the delivery guy to the truss operation and delivery, I was so impressed. Build site is 80 minutes one way, to get to Rhinelander Menards, I was Sure I would have to make multiple trips, to my amazment... zero trips, my kit inventory was near perfection, all lumber was top grade no bent, twisted trash lumber or sheeting. I was short one roll of sill seal 3 were on inventory list only two arrived in kit. No big deal, picked a 3rd roll up locally. Hard to believe when you consider how much inventory that's involved with a garage this size from ground up complete !!. Highly recommend Menards garage kits. No issues with 11% rebate on everything. We had ordered , received , and paid for over $5000 worth of building materials, in 2 separate orders. They were purchased during the 11% rebate. I never have problems receiving the rebates in smaller amounts , but I have not received these. I have contacted Menards via email over 10 times, resent the rebate information 8 times . Menard places the blame on International Rebates , but they can not "call" them . You don't save big money at Menards. read more

We purchased wallpaper from Menards for our RV. We also purchased a roll of the seam tape. Tried to purchase another roll of the tape but was told that they don't sell it anymore and that this line of goods is being cut back. So they are still selling the wallpaper but not the products you need to finish the project? They didn't have any info on where we could get the tape. What kind of customer service is that? We spend a ton of money at this store and I am really angry that we didn't receive more help. We ended up going online and finding something else that I hope works! read more

I purchased $4,000+ of cabinets from Menards during their 11% rebate sale. I placed the final order over the phone and submitted the emailed receipt they emailed me when I placed the order. I submitted their receipt along with another for a separate purchase of $500+. I never received a response from them at all. When I called to inquire, they sent me to the rebate processing company's website as they do not take phone calls from Menards customers. They do take calls from Home Depot customers but not from Mendards customers. The website showed they had mailed me a check for the small rebate, which I never received, and made no mention of the larger one. They said they would reissue the first check on the small rebated as the first one was never cashed. I have yet to see the replacement check... no surprise. I called customer service and they directed me to the store I placed the order through. I contacted the department manager at the store and he redirected me back to customer service. I have been emailing "customer service" however, they email back that I should contact the store. Clearly they don't want to pay the rebates and throw up numerous hurdles hoping I just go away. So based on my experience, If you buy anything at Menards during their rebate sale.....be prepared to NOT actually receive the rebate. Very disappointing. read more

Online Ordering.. BEWARE I am a longstanding Menards customer. I have ordered online and picked up in store 10's of thousands of dollars over the last year. When I am setting up to do a job, I go online, select whats available at my store, pay the fee, and set it up for pickup or delivery, based on size of order. Sounds normal, right. I agree, paying for them to pick it is a stretch, but I do. Well, I placed an order like I have done many times in the past. After I pay, I get a notice that one of my items (Fire Door) came out special order even after I selected in-stock items. I quickly looked for the number to call. There is now, no number. I sent in the contact info stating. I need the door sooner than you can get it, please send me a comparable in stock item, and I will go with that instead. I wait 2 days no response. Door is stil in process at the MFG, not to ship for 8 more days.. Still no number to call. So, I call the store. They can not, or will not help me. They transfer me to the front desk, the front desk says the department has to help me. I look online for the corp number. They transfer me to a phone that is NOT answered and only takes Voicemails. Customer service finally responds online. Says, I have to wait for the door to come in, and then they will return it. At a cost of 25% to me for restocking fees. The DOOR HAS NOT LEFT THE FACTORY, remember. This is crazy. I dont know what to do.. This will cost me $50 for a mistake they made. Wanted all to know... Dont do it. Dont shop there. read more

Had a great experience with a plumbing fixture replacement. Family member had purchased a kitchen faucet (with life time warranty). The faucet recently developed a leak that wasn't able to be fixed with normal maintenance. Family member still had the receipt (10 years) ago. Brought the fixture in and the receipt. No questions asked at the counter and they gave her a replacement faucet (even with an upgrade). Can't beat that. Hat's off to those involved. read more

Long time customer spending alot of money in these stores. Was at Rhinelander WI store I had one of the blue masks with elastic strings. While in hardware section getting a couple packs of bolts, one of the strings broke. In less than 60 seconds I had a very rude employee start tearing into about the mask. I showed it to them and they didn't care. They kept bitching and I snapped back "it broke". They then said they were getting a manager. I headed to the checkout and another employee said something and I hollered it broke and kept walking. Funny thing is it is the blue masks you sell that broke. The people at this store are amazing. I came in July 4th looking for materials to make signs for my lost dog and before I left the person at customer service made a bunch of copies of a lost pet flyer for me! No print shops were open on the holiday so I had lost hope and this was a huge blessing. We posted these all around town, and without them hundreds of people who were out and about on 4th of July would not have seen the information! I'm extremely grateful and this company has made a customer for life just by having such kind hearted employees. read more

Not sure where to start... Don't bother trying to find your rebate status online.. kiss that refund/rebate goodbye.. They conveniently lose your claim in the mail... yeah right eh? Menard's owes me over 100 bucks. No customer service phone line either... I purchased building material and paid for delivery.. I received only a partial delivery.. Seems most of my order was out of stock... I had to drive back to Rhinelander and pick up the rest of my purchase 3 weeks later.. They refused to deliver again.. (live 2 hours away). The service desk person was rude and ignored me.. I have lost civility and patience with Menard's.. Dealing with their incompetence and corporate greed in the form of a rebate scam is untenable... Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Go elsewhere with your lumber needs. Went to menards two weeks ago and got 8 foot decking boards and they were rounded on the edges like they should be. Went back a week ago and got the same boards but they were square making our deck uneven. read more

My first choice in home improvement stores. A great selection of everything you need for home projects, along with gardening supplies, appliances large and small, and now an expanded grocery section. I mean, they sell Famous Dave's BBQ sauces; what's not to like about that? read more

I cannot even rate the Rhinelander Menards right now, because I am that disappointed. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars at that store, and our last experience, when we really needed them to come through, was horrific and their service failed miserably. We ordered a stick built shed, with custom trusses, later in the year, than we expected. It took 3 wks. for a delivery date, and we understood that. We had everything in place for the delivery November 18th. We paid $400 for the delivery fee, and told them that a semi would not be able to make it up our driveway, but they had in the past delivered all our material for our house, and another pole shed, over the last few years, and we had improved the driveway by then, so we would need it to either be a smaller truck, with some type of forklift, to move the material to the building site. First off, when the driver arrived, he wasn't even able to unload all our material, as someone else's material had to be delivered first. He had to deliver that about an hour north, and then said he'd be back the next day to deliver the remainder of ours. When we insisted he return that day he did, but everything was placed in the middle of our driveway, only to find all the material wasn't even there. The truck driver was rude, short with us, and basically told us to call the store, it wasn't his problem. We had to pull up all the material by hand, with a small tractor, and fortunately were able to do so, or we couldn't even enter, or leave our property, which is where we live. Upon calling the store with our receipts in hand, we were told they had no record of our order. Mind you, this order totaled over $7,000. After going back and forth, with the person on the phone, miraculously our order was located. Now we were told the next day's delivery was already full. We insisted that we receive our material the next day, and the clerk reluctantly agreed. We really had our doubts at that point, but we had a crew lined up to erect this shed, as winter was coming quickly. We must say the second delivery driver was extremely accommodating, polite, and was able to bring the material up the drive way to the building site without any problems. When we relayed our prior day's experience, he apologized and was surprised Menards had even sent a semi, as he said his equipment could've handled our delivery, without any problems. Kudos to that gentleman! So our crew wasn't able to complete our project in a timely manner, and for those living in our area, likely are all very aware, we have just been dumped on with about 10+ inches of snow. We know we went in to this project at an if-ey time of year, but the days we lost dinking around with Menards, and the delivery delays, and costing us $400 to boot, is pretty frustrating. I would think very hard before ordering any major material projects from Menards again. And that's too bad, as it's convenient and a nice store. It just appears that some of their personnel are clueless. read more

I went into the Rhinelander Menards to purchase a dishwasher, and better than a half hour with a seemingly helpful salesman I purchased a top of the line Frigidaire model discounted to $650, a $85 warranty, and plumbing hardware. When picking up behind the store it had to be unwrapped from plastic wrap, and cardboard to fit in the my van. When I stopped before leaving the gate to retrieve paper work I noticed a very large, and unsightly dent in the door that wasn't present in the store. When returning it to the warehouse before leaving the gate I was asked whether I had bent it with the hatch of my van to even a manager that claimed I'd been informed of the dent(huge). I was refunded fully by customer service, while the general store manager basically insisted I was liar. Call it what you want, bait and switch, kids damaging it between the store, and the pickup, and, or a retail establishment basically lacking in integrity. read more

Menards is NOT the place to make any special orders. For the last three years I have ordered lumber, bath components, etc in the thousands with Home Depot. Less than 30 miles, free delivery with accurate order. This year I used Menards, the day of the order, which for over $2500 of materials was a delivery charge of $79, I had to track them down to find our their supplier had not send the order or it could not be found in their location. They indicated 2 weeks for this roofing special order, I gave them 30 days. Yet the day of delivery they could not find my alternate phone number, has an NA where it should have been entered. But wait, it gets better, they do not have the complete order and want me to pay for cancellation when they came up short. Think twice about their organization and tell them manager you don't want to do business with them. They are not what they used to be at this store. read more
