It has been a nightmare! I have ordered two three panel maple door to finish a project. I have purchased 16 of these doors prior to these. The first two came with cracks in the finish and glue all over the door. When I reorder them the came the same way. Then reorder the third time they had scratches and glue. Then the forth time they had glue and they tried to sand them getting through the veneer. Now I am waiting for the fifth set and it has been 6 weeks. No one returned my emails and you can't call anyone but the store. They have wasted 8 hours of my time and made me look bad to my customers. The place is a joke if you have an issue with anything. The. Worst. Last week I went to find a specific sized trim board. Had an employee (which I had to flag down since none were willing to ask if I needed help) tell me they don't carry that size of board. I needed a 1x4 pine simple trim board. Ultra common. This dude said we 100% don't carry that. I looked around and found it 4 mins later. Today, against my better judgement I went back to get some tongue and groove boards to finish a project. Their selection was TRASH. Also, the same boards I previously bought elsewhere were $1.00 more per board at Menards. Looked through 50 boards or more and found 4 that weren't twisted or bowed beyond use. Also, just for poops and giggles, I counted how many employees walked by me, from when I walked in until I left, that didn't say hi or ask me if I needed help. When I left, after not a SINGLE one greeted me, I counted 34. 34 employees within an arm's length of me. None, NOT ONE, had any interest in helping me. On 11/22/24 at 7:56 AM CST, I placed an order with Menards using their on line internet store - delivery of items was to have been 11/26/24. I was never advised that my order would be delayed. Items did not arrive on 11/26/24 and after corporate customer service did not respond, I spoke with store GM "Steve". "Steve" did advise that he was alerting the proper people and that they do get deliveries on weekends. Still nothing showed up that weekend. "Steve" and I spoke on the phone again and he stated that he would ship the items to me when they got to the store due to the slow shipping. Order arrived at the store on 12/2/24. "Steve" left a voicemail asking if I still wanted the items and that he would hold them until I got in touch with him (note NO TIME TO GET IN TOUCH WAS PROVIDED BY "Steve"). I replied to Steve's voicemail via text the same day, that yes I still wanted the items. I never heard back from Steve. I did finally get a response from "Emily C" saying that she was refunding my money - my presumption was that this was due to the delay in shipping. I got an email on 12/3/24 saying my order was ready to pick up. On 12/7/24 (just 5 days after I was advised it was at the store) I went the store at 7:30 AM and was informed by "Bronson", that they had sold my items. This violates their contract wherein it states that I have 14 days to pick up my order. According to the Menards website (screenshot taken at 11;46 AM 12/7/24 after I left the store ) they were still showing that they had my order and that it was ready for pick up. On 12/8/24 I got another email from the store stating that they have my order, when in fact, they do not. The store took my money, then failed to honor the delivery, delivered it late, failed to hold for the contractual 14 days, re-sold the items, and refunded me less money than I paid. These actions violate several consumer laws and is a grand example overall lack of quality customer service, lack of response and dishonest/deceptive business tactics that happened to me. read more

It's been one month today since my order online and I haven't received my item. The customer support is useless. Here is what's going on: On May 2, I purchased online a replacement screen kit. After 10 days, I contacted customer support asking for an update. I was informed by them that "a label was created but that no scan exists for the pickup". On May 18, I received a notification from USPS saying that I would have to pay an extra of $11.75 for shipping!! Hello???? Are you kidding me? I paid for shipping and handling fee when I submitted my order. Why do I have to pay extra charge? After multiple back and forth emails to the customer support, someone form Menards called me. The person who I spoke with had absolutely no clue what was going on. First off, he said, "Your item is at the Post Office in Pleasant Prairie".  "Yes, I know. I said and the USPS wants extra $11.75 for the shipping" - I replied.  "That's weird" Menards rep. said. Clearly, he was totally lost.   I explained to him that I have all the handling fee + shipping when I ordered online and I will not pay anything extra and plus, Pay almost $21 of shipping for an item that cost less than $4? Also, why do I have to drive 5 miles to the post office if I paid for the item to be delivered at my door? "I will follow up on this and I will be in touch". - He never called me back. I contacted USPS and this was the answer given the USPS email: "So Menards shipped your package Express, but never paid for the postage on the Express. Because they never paid for the postage to Express it that is why we can not deliver it to you until the Express postage of $11.75. We are sending the package back today 5/26. Menards needs to pay for the rest of the shipping and send it back to you. Thank you ! sorry for the inconvenience." The customer support ignores all my emails now. Horrible customer service at Evergreen Park location. Contacted Guest Svc. regarding purchase on 1/27/24 and rec'd a response on 2/9/24 indicating "sorry Menards did not meet my expectations to produce good will and responsive top notch service", and would share my complaint with management. A 1.5 hour wait would not meet any customer's expectation. The expectations of any customer should always be prompt, courteous, professional service which was not provided. Here is a store manager asking if we have masks. We say no. He tells us they are $0.42 up at the register. Bought $4,000+ of kitchen cabinets & a granite countertop. Delivery was a fiasco - way outside the promised timeframe, and at the last minute I'm told they can't carry in the countertop for liability reasons (I'd paid an extra delivery charge for that very service). After wrestling the countertop off its pallet the delivery guy offers to return the pallet to Menard's & gives me a receipt for me to collect the $20 deposit. First wall cabinet comes with a broken foot. The 2nd disintegrated coming out of its carton: they dry-fit the thing without gluing it. Oh, and when I tried to redeem the pallet receipt the "service" gal treats me like a criminal, like I'm trying to scam twenty bucks off John Menard... and although I followed the procedure I was told, she goes on to scold me to "show proof" next time. Bottom line: poor quality and none of the various departments are on the same page. read more

This might be the greatest store for home DIY project builders-- in the world. Light fixtures galore, every conceivable electrical, plumbing, carpentry supply and tool. It takes 30-minutes just to walk the aisles -- and that's inside the store. They have more variety in wood and lumber than most lumber yards. You can buy a metal roof at Menards-- I did. You can buy appliances, furniture, auto supplies, food! You can shop for just about anything you can think of here. Really, it's just amazing. If Amazon had a brick and mortar store for home owners, it would look like this. Old-fashioned tried and true products can be found here. The land of simplicity-- Borax and Murphy's Soap. And a place where you can buy a metal roof in 20+ colors (special order @ a very reasonable cost). A dozen eggs for 99 cents?!? Only in Wisconsin! Simply not possible in NY. And Lionel trains at Christmas! They sell Lionel stuff! Based here in Eau Claire, I'm not sure if this is their flagship, or if the store on the west side of town is the flagship location. I feel like I'm visiting the Mecca of Home Building for DIY! There must be a whole lot more home owner builder/maintainers in middle America, because in NY, I have a choice limited to Lowe's and Home Depot -- both pale in comparison to the massive selections available at Menards! I sometimes make special trips to the Menards closest to the East Coast -- located in Warren, Ohio! One more thing, why all the terrible reviews? Makes no sense to me unless it's just disgruntled ex-employees. If Menards decided to open an east coast store in Orange County, New York, I'd be there every weekend. I needed to return and refund two items that I bought online from Menards. When the items arrived, it was immediately apparent that one of the items was defective, so I used Menards website to request an RMA and return shipping label. Jess V. in Menards Online Customer Service researched the purchase, and quickly facilitated my receipt of a FedEx Return Label. During the brief interim period between my request and my receipt of the return label, I discovered that the second item I had received was also defective. Both of the fragile items, Black Flag "bug zappers" had apparently been severely jarred during shipping. The tube in one of them was completely dark, and the tube in the other one flickered and buzzed. I replied to Jess V.'s email, requesting an amendment to the RMA, which would enable me to return both items with the label I had already received. Jess V. quickly accommodated my request to change the RMA, from 1 item to 2 items, so I could return both items in the original Menards shipping box, using the return label I had already received. I am very pleased with the excellent customer service provided by Jess V., and I will definitely buy from Menards whenever possible. read more

i am a disabled veteran and bound to a wheelchair . two years ago we started to do serious remodeling. My wife and I went to the store in jeffersonville In. to pick out fixtures for our contractor I asked for an electric shopping scooter so I could purchase some items i was told they had only 1 riding cart available .I talked to the manager on duty about this ,then avoided this store for two years In Jan 2022 my wife and I were in the area and she wanted to get some cleaning items and look at appliances. she went in to get a cart, and again was told there was none available. we left feeling that the ownership of Menards were not customer friendly especially toward handicapped people.A store the size of this one should have at least six available for those like me that cannot walk. Home Depot, Lowes and Meijers have plenty available for shoppers. read more

I was shorted on a special order. Pallet was wrapped in white vinyl and loaded on the back of my truck. Once at the job site, we realized we we're shorted 20 boxes of material. When I returned to the store to discuss this, the store manager called me a liar as to the product I left with. Corporate has been terrible about coming up with a resolution. A store manager told me that he cannot help me because all rebates are handled by Rebates International and he has no access to this company. I have been in the store twice in the last week. First round, rang up wrong, and still ended up at service desk for refund because of an overcharge. Tonight,I needed help in plumbing. BEWARE WHEN ORDERING ONLINE I placed an order for two different size doors. It gave me the option to ship on both doors. I clicked on free ship to store and it only applied to one door and charged me $300 shipping for the second door. I immediately emailed customer service since they don't have a phone number and canceled the order. I got a response telling me he would attempt to cancel. He never messaged me again. I messaged him 4 more times that day with no response. I tried again the next day with a new email and was told too late it already shipped. I responded back saying that was not possible. Never got a response. I have sent 5 more emails to 5 different customer service emails with no response. The door I shipped to the store arrived 3 days later, yet the one that someone already shipped to me still has not arrived 7 days later. I put a dispute in with my credit card. This applies only to their online store. I can't speak for their physical locations. I recommend NOT ordering from their online store. My husband ordered for several hundred dollars worth of hardware from their company over a month ago. It took several weeks to receive part of the order and the rest was never delivered. I assumed it was simply an oversight and sent an email to them two weeks ago. I received a reply right away saying it had shipped that day. This was a lie. They had not shipped it that day. In fact I was sent the tracking information for part of my order that was listed as scheduled to ship over a week before that. But they only printed the label and never shipped it. Again I thought that was simply an oversight and emailed the company about it. Days went by and they never answered. So I emailed again. I was getting very irritated by this point. I finally received a short email saying they would look into it. Days went by and nothing, no response, nothing. If the person who was dealing with their customer service emails had simply checked the tracking with the initial email they sent me she would have seen immediately that the package had not been mailed that day as she claimed. In fact it hadn't been mailed at all and was in limbo for more than a week. Still, I could write that off as simple human error. Several days went by after she said she was looking into it. More than enough time to pick up a phone and call the other store to find out what happened. It shouldn't take more than an hour or two to track down our order that we paid for. After multiple tries being polite I was only able to get results after getting very loud, angry, and hostile. It is a sad state of any company that only responds to the angry and mean customers and leaves the rest with nothing. I feel the matter should have been handled right away and not forcing me to resort to angry emails to get attention. I finally received the items we ordered today, after over a month. Menards is known for their guest service and how employees actually acknowledge the guest. This Menards location is probably one of the worst I've been too. I spent about 30 minutes in the store with my family and passed multiple team members and no one said a word or asked if we needed help. I couldn't locate an item so I finally approached the hardware desk where 3 employees were chatting amongst themselves. I was given a short answer that involved pointing and directions based off of other products (not even an aisle number). I seemed to be a burden. Didn't end up locating the item after the same type of encounter with 2 other team members. I prefer the other Menards location in town much better. read more

Experienced quality issues with an installed product and had to file a complaint by mail - not even an option to submit via their website. . .Menards needs to upgrade their webpages to improve a customer's experience. The second disappointment was after submitting my complaint via mail, Menards copied me on a letter to the vendor requesting the vendor contact me to resolve. Really, Menards? I didn't choose the vendor, YOU DID! You should be resolving with your vendor - I AM YOUR customer and you should be following up with me not the vendor. Talk about creating roadblocks for the customer. . . at this point, I have reached out to the vendor since they haven't responded to the request from Menards. And yet another roadblock - trying to reach Menards to address the issue of no response is a challenge - had to call the store to get a number for guest services that was only voice mail prompts with NO option to speak directly to a person. . .. leave a message.
