Convenient when visiting Belvedere garden and Museum
In fact, Menagerie is the bistro at the Upper Belvedere, and was a welcomed stop for us today. As tourists, we had already taken on two museums this morning and needed to get refueled before visiting another. It was busy, everything around us was busy today, but we got in and out in a reasonable amount of time.
For lunch I ordered their Sacher sausage, which came with horseradish, mustard, and a roll. Concerned that wasn't going to be enough for me, I also ordered French fries. For my drink, I varied from my usual diet drink and ordered their homemade lime lemonade.
I was very pleased with the result. The sausage turned out to be two long sausages, or in my lingo hot dogs. The horseradish was in a small pile. That was cool, I had expected it to be mixed in somehow with the mustard. My refreshing drink was a bit of a shock when I took my first drink, expecting and not finding a sweet taste. Only then I saw the sugar container that was also brought to the table. Although I never managed to doctor it up enough to taste familiar, I was ok with how it did taste.
Our server was efficient and polite, even friendly, and as I have found all over, not as accessible as servers in the US. If we wanted to experience the US we would have stayed home. This experience, including how restaurants function, is a wonderful memory of Vienna. read more
