Been at this place two times now - for dinner and brunch and both was amazing. For dinner we had a combo platter which was fingerlicking good. We didn't manage to spare room for dessert because we kept eating. Service was kind, attentive and quick. Funny enough my colleague and I were the only females that night. Today I went for a Sunday brunch. We decided to get one of each and then mix and share. All three dishes was amazing, especially the grits - a delicious savory dish. Today we didn't manage to get dessert either - we just couldn't stop eating. We had the to types of soft drinks (lemonade and ice tee) and our waitress suggested to mix them - glad we did! This joint rocks. Authentic, tender Texas Brisket and generous slab of short ribs. Just what the doctor ordered. Throw in a side of corn-bacon and a passable corn bread, oh and how about a 7-hop Rogue IPA (one of the best IPAs in the world) and a selection of rye, bourbon and moonshine that will blow your mind. Did not see the Belizean hot sauce another yelper referenced (one of my fav hot sauces, but not for BBQ). Their home made South Carolina honey-mustard, KY vinegar sauce, and good ole KC style were delic. There was a homemade habanero-garlic sauce did not try but if you want the heat It looks like this would melt forks. Service and ambiance were good. Modern country music streaming in the background, waitress working hard. Chef visible in the open kitchen. Dimly lit but enough to read the menu. Flavorless ribs and over fried fries is what you get here if you are willing to pay up, 'cause it doesn't come cheap! The hottest deal you'll get here is the Belizean Heat Habanero pepper sauce... I understand the concept and I'm sure the creators have good intentions with this Texan style roadhouse; if they paid a bit more attention to the cooking and made their prices a bit less ambitious it might even work. read more

Carolina and Texas BBQ in Aarhus, Denmark. The staff was friendly, attentive and seemed to be having fun. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. It is a open place with a big menu on the wall. Country music playing in the background. Although it is open, it is not overly loud. The popcorn shrimp starter was good, although, who can resist fried anything. I then enjoyed a combo meal with Brisket and Ribs. The waiter explained the different sauces on the table and when I mentioned I like a bit of spice with my BBQ he broke out a Ghost Pepper hot sauce that was pretty potent, but spiced up the meal nicely. The ribs were meaty and tasty and although they looked a bit dry, they were tender and juicy. The brisket was alright as well. A bit different than in the US, but it was still tasty and the sauces were nice as well. They have a drink named, "Honey Boo Boo". I can't remember what was in it, maybe bourbon and honey are included, but, it was tasty and any time I think about it, I chuckle. Nice touch. All-in-all, a nice meal in a great atmosphere. Two friends and I came here whilst working nearby at a festival. We were not expecting much as BBQ over here isn't really a staple, but we had to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did. We were quickly seated and drinks orders were taken. Few drafts and some surprisingly good US bottled beers (Rogue 7 Hops!! as well as Brooklyn) - they came quickly and with a small bowl of monkey nuts to pick at. We ordered the shrimp and some wings for starters. With all of us going for combo platters (one with short rib, two with Kansas rib, all with chicken) and a few sides (beans, fries and mash). The starters were superb. The shrimp was not the dish I was expecting, and was more like a collection of tiny shrimp based crab cakes. Which honestly was even better than I imagined. The wings were spicy and well seasoned. A superb start. Mains came quickly after the table was cleared - impressive. The chicken, I'm going out on a limb here, was some of the best fried chicken I've eaten. Moist and perfectly seasoned. The four options of BBQ sauce did well, but I stuck with the extra hot (which isn't really) and the Kansas City style stuff. Both were immense - the chicken also came with some chipotle mayo, which was delicious. Mash was great, with a thick gravy, fries were coated with a salt mixture and the beans were mixed with bacon. All of the meals had a small piece of corn bread and a small cole slaw. As we'd finished we got to talk to the owner, Chris for a few mins. He's from the states and is really passionate about the local area and keeping his food as authentic as he can. We had a couple of cocktails after, the hurricane was great (although not red) and one of us had a mojito which he really enjoyed. The waitress we had was superb. Friendly and engaging. Exactly what you want. Couldn't fault her at all. She even chased my companion down the street when he left his wings in a takeaway bag on the table. We honestly could not fault the place at all. After my first visit and subsequent review, I was invited by the owner to share my feedback. I did, and today I brought my guys back to see if they could completely reverse our experience. And they could! This time the ribs were meaty and tasty. Excellent service. And we all walked away happy, talking about when we would come back. Honestly, I think it's extremely rare to see someone come back after a bad experience and turn 180 degrees around. I'm impressed! read more

Great food! Me and my sister went down to try out some real US food. Having lived in the US I was very excited. The food was really awesome! We had an appetizer, main course, and dessert. All were great. Only downside was the price tag. Dkk30 for a coke! No refills, which is very unlike the US. Also, if you've ever been in America you know that the first thing the waiter does is to serve you up with (free) water. Didn't happen here. Verdict: Big thumbs up! I'm from Tennessee and have tried a lot of BBQ in my time. So I decided to give it a whirl and see if it was even close to what we have back home. In a lot of ways, it was pretty close. We ate apple-smoked chicken with 2 sides: the mashed potatoes and pickled pot, and steak with the vegetable of the day and chipotle slaw. We also ordered cornbread and several yellow-dog beers (my new favorite!) The chicken was delicious. Absolutely delicious. It reminded me of home. The sides were fine. Uninspiring. The cornbread would have been good if it were fresh. The steak, the slaw, and the veggies were excellent. Downside: What we ACTUALLY ordered was an appetizer of popcorn shrimp (which we never received), FRIED chicken with baked beans and corn, and a steak medium rare which instead, came out very overcooked. But they compensated us with 2 free beers. Yes there were a few problems but the food was good enough that I will definitely be back. Especially when I'm feeling homesick. read more

I may have never seen an original american bbq-restaurant from inside, but this is how I think it would be and especially taste like. A very warm and relaxed welcome from owner and service and the nice interior made us feel comfortable.The gin & tonic tasted good (in fancy glasses), the first look in the menu made clear that it´s not one of these trendy burger bars, but known for bbq-meat. Only one burger, the rest is steak, ribs or chicken etc. I had chicken with very tasty (red) cole-slaw and cold pumpkin, which tasted ok. The chicken was delicious, soft and with a slightly spicy crust. The fries were great. Since a whole dessert wouldn´t fit, we chose root beer float as a sweet end of our meal. It´s not on the menu (only root beer) but the service knew what we were talking about and just made us one which was perfect. My girlfriend loved it in the US and said this was as good as it gets. Great service and tasty food. There are so many restaurants and bars in central aarhus, but this is pretty unique and a very good choice. read more

Great food. Ok, I know a very limited amount about American BBQ, so I can't tell if it was authentic but this was really tasty. I had burnt ends with chips. The meat was melt in your mouth with a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. The chips were unusually great. The coleslaw was pleasantly lightly dressed and the pickles were a perfect accompaniment. It also came with some slices of good toasted bread. My companion had the Kansas ribs which were also great. It isn't the cheapest, but the portions are huge, a main dish is more than enough food. The space is pretty sparse and not the most inviting, but they do have tables outside in summer which catch the sunshine. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Searched for american dinner in Aarhus, and Memphis Roadhouse pop'ed up. From when we arrived I was back in the US - the place have american decoration and a big board with a simple menu card - only a few things to those between. We got the Ruben and Pulled Pork sandwich, a beer (Yellow dog, awesome lager) and cola, served in moonshine glasses ! The Pulled pork wasnt soaked in sauce like in the US but the flavor was great. The Ruben was served slightly different then I remember, the beef was a little dry in the edges and Im not sure it was braised - but nerveless the flavor was awesome - all in all a place I would recommend for lunch, and a place I have to visit for dinner sometime soon. read more

If you are an American or someone who's been in America and tasted real barbecue, like Blue Smoke, Butcherbar in Queens or even Brother Jimmy's - DON'T even go near this place! Me and my American boyfriend were very happy that we could finally get some barbecue when he was visiting me in Aarhus last fall. As most of you may know, BBQ is a rarity in Denmark. This new place opened up and we were eager to check it out. But sadly, It had absolutely nothing to do with American barbecue. Even though the design and interior of the place kind of made us think it had. I got spareribs and mashed potatoes. My boyfriend got burnt ends, mac & cheese and we both had coleslaw on the side. The mac & cheese was basically zucchini in bad, melted cheese. The chicken was dry and had no flavor of barbecue. And the worst part was the burnt ends. They did not taste anything like the burnt ends we've tried various places in the states. First of all, the barbecue sauce had a weird flavor and did not go with the meat. Second of all - it was definitely halal meat, which is not something you get in the states when you order barbecue. If you're not into the taste of the meat they put in sharwarmas and such, don't even try this place. The staff was kind and enthusiastic about the food. Which I guess is what brings the one star in on this rating. But the prices were very high for what turned out to be a terrible meal. For a barbecue enthusiast like me, and I am very Danish, this did not meet the standards and expectations that we had. Don't go there. read more
