    Plenty Of Greenery.

The disadvantage of this park is definitely the parking there are not enough spaces available to accommodate many guests considering this park is big. The main parking that I have seen and where I always park when we visit has about 15 parking spots available and these are usually occupied right away when the park opens. If you need additional parking, I have seen people park in the streets by the surrounding neighborhoods. As for the park, they have many areas with tables - the most I've seen in an area had around 8 benches scattered which is plenty for a party. The tables are long - plenty of area to place food and drinks. If you put two tables together you have enough space to use for food, drinks, desserts, and even for gifts. If you have tablecloths definitely use them as some of the tables are sticky and dirty. There are many barbecue pits next to the benches as well but they are not the cleanest I suggest bringing supplies to clean them as they are not cleaned often. There is also a waddle pool area not too far from the tables which is great for kids during a birthday party. You can rent these waddle pools for parties and only your guests can use them and you get to pick how long you can use them. The staff cleans the waddle pool before your party and then fill it with water about 15 minutes before usage time. As far as park amenities, they have the usual basketball courts and tennis courts and a playgrounds area. These areas are big and plenty of equipment for a lot of people to use. The downside is the area where you rent for parties the ground is all dirt and no hard surfaces. If you bring your own tables and chairs it will be wobbly as there are no flat surfaces to hold it down. I would not recommend renting the park for parties during the rainy seasons majority of the area will be muddy and stuff will definitely get dirty, especially shoes and strollers.

    Another great day for tennis.

Just wanted to give a shoot out to Kevin Pollock the tennis director at this location, he had a great tournament this past weekend and everything went great, the staff here was friendly, kind and treated everyone very well. We will be back again next year to play tennis, thank you Kevin. Harry Irvine

Does anyone know what time they open the little kids pool? Or that pond that's here. I was told 10am and someone else said 12pm

It varies. One year they told me when it would be open and they opened it when they said and no one used it when they had a life guard so they drained it then later people started going but it wasn't filled

California Botanic Garden was absolutely beautiful! I loved exploring the different trails…read morethroughout the garden. There was so much nature and wildlife to enjoy along the way. We got to see bunnies, rabbits, turtles, and so many different types of birds. It was such a peaceful and beautiful experience being surrounded by nature. Whether you're looking for a relaxing nature walk, want to explore the trails, or enjoy a nice hike, this is a great place to visit. I definitely recommend coming here if you love nature and wildlife!

Claremont, CA This…read morebotanic garden has grown on me. There are so many varieties of California native plants and they do have a nursery that is usually open a few days a week but is closed for Summer and reopening in October, 2026. What I love about this property is the sprawling amount of walkway to take a nice walk. You'll find enough shade along the way but many parts are not shaded. The pathways are decomposed granite, concrete and or asphalt so it's like hiking in nature but without the dirt road or elevation gain. I also really love that it's not crowded here. It's also smack dab in the middle of nature so you will occasionally see wild animal poop on a path, cracks that have not been repaired, but none of that really bothers me. There are plenty of benches along the path and a restroom on one side of the property so plan accordingly. They used to have a nice gift shop here and novelties like hats, t shirts, children's toys, books are now displayed in a small outdoor kiosk near to where you check in. California Botanic Garden is a member of the American Horticultural Network of Gardens (AHS). So if you have an annual membership at one of the participating Gardens associated with AHS Gardens you automatically have access to visit all of the gardens in network, unlimited visits for no additional charge. It is nice being a member at one garden and having access to visit hundreds of gardens. Currently, 380 gardens participate in this Network throughout parts of United States and Territories of U.S.A., Canada, and Cayman Islands. https://ahsgardening.org/ahs-garden-network/ I copy and pasted the exerpt below from AI but it has been a treat to see the blooms and how they change color, specifically Native California Buckwheat which can be seen along many hills and roadsides in California. To observe how the plant changes and matures in different seasons is quite fascinating: "Native California Buckwheat flowers start out white (or pale pink/creamy) and transition through shades of orange, cinnamon, rust, and deep red-brown as they age and dry out into summer and fall. Flower Color Changes Fresh Blooms (Spring): Tiny clusters open up as bright, clean white or pale pink. Aging and Drying (Summer): As the weather heats up and soil dries, the petals shift into rusty orange, copper, and tan. Late Season (Fall/Winter): The spent flower heads mature into deep rust-red and chocolate brown tones across the hillsides." I truly enjoy seeing the change of colors on each visit, they are so bright and vibrant! Look for it, and you will find a lot of beauty in the varied California native plant foliage and blooms on this property. Visiting seasonally gives the best picture. For example, The 1000's of large Matilija poppies which resemble a crinkly giant sunny side up egg just finished peak bloom a few months ago. They will be back!
