Castle Playground

Castle Playground

My little queens were tired of the same playgrounds. My bro's yelp review and pix impressed us all…read more We parked right in front and my kids (ages 3 and 5) ran to the castle-themed jungle gyms and had fun and freedom for the next 2 hours. There were so many structures that all the children had plenty of personal space. Special features included a roller-based slide, a zip-line, and a rope climb. It's an excellent playground I can add to the rotation. Come out and play! NOTES/TIPS: **Picnic tables, plenty of benches, and 2 porta-potties on-site. **If the main parking lot is full, additional parking is 200 ft. away. **The playground is next to a basketball court, baseball field, and soccer field.

Drove in around 12 noon on a Friday, noticed right away that although there was plenty of parking,…read morethe playground was packed. Benches for eating are at the entrance located close enough to watch your kids playing basketball or on the playground. This playground is neat... truly a castle inspired theme. Great for playing peekaboo with your toddlers with many mazes to get lost in and still be sure your child is safe and can't fall out the sides (too easily). There's also a slide that can be climbed which my son was very intrigued with, once he got to the top he'd jump on the big boy slide and come out the other end, he's 14 months so there's really so much for him to explore. There's also bigger slides for older kids, different monkey bars to climb, kiddie and big kid swings, little castles with benches and tables to picnic in, and plenty of benches surrounding the playground for parents to hang out in. We lived up to our mantra: PLAY HARD NAP HARD! Baby was knocked out as soon as we got in the car so I must say it was a good day. My name is Francis and I approve of this playground. YSA (yelp service announcement) When you come here punch into your GPS this address: 651 Shunkpike Rd. Chatham NJ otherwise you will get lost.

Absolutely BRILLIANT day at the GSOEC! I'm still smiling…read more The Northern NJ chapter of my body liberation hiking group met up for a turn about the swamps and marshes. We strung together the red, white, yellow, and orange trails for about 3.5 miles of dewy goodness. The highlights: The wildlife: We had our necks on swivel for snapping turtles, frogs, and bears (oh my!). We came away with a sighting of a majestic blue heron, a black frog, and a few geese. The boardwalks: Overall, very well-maintained, snaking through grasslands and over water. -Water crossings: There were PLENTY on the white trail. I love water crossings because they require some flexibility, strategy, and a whole lotta faith. Oh and waterproof shoes lol. It was really fun to work as a team to get each across some of the waterlogged spots on trail. -Benches Some Scouts placed a lot of benches along the way as part of their Gold and Eagle awards. Yall know I love seating on trails. Ain't no shame in sitting down and taking it all in. -Visitors Center Wonderful education space, tactile exhibits, and bathrooms. The person working today gave us a great bear fact (did you know black bears have 2 layers of fur - the top being especially rough?) and told us about upcoming programming and Center hours. -Safety While we were a group of 6, the vibe I got throughout the swamp has me unafraid to return alone. Trails are well-marked with nowhere for creeps to hide and there's usually other groups around. Parking was safe and within view of the Visitor Center building. All in all, the GSOEC reflects the importance of conservation. Can you believe this beautiful place was almost an airport?!?!

Love this little park located deep in the forest. You drive in and are lost in a wooded area. They…read morehave some easy trails. Some are boardwalks, others are typical trails. The trails aren't long and are suitable for all ages. When open, there's a visitor's center that features expeditions for children. The kids were having a good time. I enjoyed the outing and seeing my first bear up close and personal. Maybe a little too up close!

Have to thank Dave for a great time on the hiking and brewery trip! The outing was very well…read moreorganized, with Dave being the driver, tour guide, and lunch maker all in one. He is very knowledgeable about the area where we went (Delaware water gap) and knew the hiking trail well too. I like how the size of the group wasn't too big so it was easier to get to know more people. Everyone was really excited to get some nice fresh air and exercise and of course visit a brewery! The hike was a moderate trail with some bigger hills up and down and a lot of rocks to watch your footing on. After the hike we were all hungry and ready for some beer. We stopped at Jersey Girl brewing where we all had flights and got a little tour of the place where all the action happens! The only criticism I have is with the lunch. It was very simple: chips, pickles, and homemade sandwiches with meat and cheese. There were a few vegetarian options but it was very heavy on the bread overall. I would love to see some kind of healthier alternative like a quinoa or lentil dish, which I would be happy to help with!

I did the Halloween Hike and Brew and it was amazing! So much fun and Dave is such a great guide…read moreand conversationalist with everyone. Dave was very easy to find since he sent us an email letting us know exactly where he'll be. From there, he drove the whole group in a van with awesome coffee for everyone. Once we arrived, we all got sandwiches Dave packed for us all and was off to seriously such a great hike. Dave made sure nobody from the group was left behind. Once the whole hike was done, we drove over to the brewery and Dave got pizza for everyone. Such a great time and arrived back at the time we expected Definitely would recommend and can't wait to go on another adventure!!
