From the initial call on Christmas Eve that she had passed; we were treated with nothing but compassion and care. Colby helped us before this occurred so we were clear about the events that would occur immediately following the passing of John. The day after John passed we met with Colby and went through his very detailed list of things to consider and decisions to make; including arrangements for military honors at the cemetery. From that point on, through the weeks ahead, everything occurred as scheduled. We found Colby's assistance to be exceptional, respectful, supportive, and complete. He thought of everything we needed to know and decide. He coordinated the military component completely, not leaving out a single detail. I am so grateful to Colby and Nelson-Berna for making a difficult time much easier to go through.

He spent a lot of time with me on the phone and email and texting helping me understand the process. It's the first time I've had to bury someone, and I feared all the little decisions. Tim helped me streamline everything and kept me in the loop as to when my brother would be returned from Little Rock after his autopsy. When I flew out, we finalized all the details. At no point in time did I feel treated like a blank check. Instead I felt genuine caring and appreciated it. We chose a nice casket that met my criteria and set a simple burial time. All costs were fully explained more than once in case I had questions. I flew out knowing that I'd honored my brother's final wishes. My Father a Vet recently pasted away. Unfortunately my aging mother had to make arrangements alone…read more THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE WE RECEIVED. First they was in a hurry, and forcing her to make decisions before she had time to think about them. Sorry but at a time like this ( is not a time to be in a hurry ). Second we had family coming in from all over the US and she did not know the exact time that everyone would arrive. They made her make a decision on the time of the service the very next day after his passing. Third they told her since the service was going to be so late in the afternoon on a Saturday we would not be able to take him to the cemetery until Monday. Well by then most of the family had to return home to go back to work. They would not let her schedule anything on Sunday. Fourth on the obituary notice they got the name of the cemetery wrong. Fifth during the service he was unprepared and was searching for words to say ( like he was killing time or wasting his time ) that was my impression. Six they called my mother late 7.00 pm on Sunday to drive 75 miles to mark his plot, in the dark , in the country. Seven when we was finally able to take him to his final resting place we had to take him from Siloam Springs to Kingston and he was taken in a mini van not a hearse. Eight he did not have directions to get there so he had to follow us ( this funeral home must not have Google maps ) my belief is that the deceased should be first in line. Nine the man that took him to the cemetery only said one small short prayer. and that offered on comfort to us. When it comes time for my Mother to be called home to be with Jesus we will NOT do it with this home. The only part that we was happy with is when the Navy Commander gave my mother the flag. She was very nice and professional unlike the staff at this funeral home. The least this place should do is discount the price and send a letter of apology to my mother. Unhappy Smith Family.

However, Tristan and all the staff came together to walk us through the experience from the time he showed up to take Mom to their facility to the final moments after the memorial. As a family, we cannot say enough Thank You for a great experience. Now...as a personal note, I've been to Heritage on at least three other occasions. I am a pastor, and have been involved in at least two funerals there, and one as a visitor. The facility is clean, well maintained, and sufficient. The staff there have always been very helpful, well organized, and ready to serve. Perhaps that is something most businesses like this want, but there is just "something special" at Heritage Funeral Home. I've personally been involved in almost every funeral home in NWA. They have all been good to work for, but that something extra gives Heritage a 5 star rating I don't normally share. David D.
