The most relaxed, upscale lounge in Columbia. Love the vibez and definitely the new staffing.

Barcode updated somethings & is back open! Wings might be small but those flavors are big. We…read morereally enjoyed the wings and mozzarella sticks. Service was great! Our waitress made sure to keep up with us & all her tables on Super Bowl Sunday. The drinks were good and you can't beat the happy hour specials. Clean restaurant, good amount of TVs & good music.

I visited Barcode on 07/18, and during my visit, my friend ordered a hookah. While one of the…read morehookah attendants was changing the coals, she walked away and the metal charcoal holder/top came loose, struck my upper thigh, and then fell to the floor. I immediately took photos as my skin began turning red. Over the following day, the injury developed into what appears to be a second-degree burn. The following day (07/19), I returned to Barcode to speak with a manager about what had happened. Unfortunately, that experience was even more disappointing than the injury itself. I did try to speak to someone when it initially happened but everyone apparently was "too busy" to give me the time of day so i returned the following day. I wish I had gotten her name, but the manager I spoke with (a light-skinned woman) approached me without greeting me or introducing herself. I actually greeted her first by saying, "Hi, how are you?" before explaining the situation. Her first question was whether the holder fell while the employee was changing the hookah or after she had walked away. When I explained that it happened after the employee walked away, her immediate response was, "Well, that's not her fault then." There was no apology, no concern for my injury, and no attempt to gather more information or even review the security footage. If the charcoal holder was properly secured, it should not have fallen onto a customer in the first place. She then told me, "I'm not that kind of manager, so I can't do anything besides offer you a drink. Do you want a drink?" Offering someone a complimentary drink after they've been burned by your equipment felt incredibly dismissive and inappropriate. She continued by saying that if I wanted to speak with an owner and "go through all the paperwork" because I thought it was "that serious," I could come back another day because the owner wasn't there. I'm genuinely confused as to how a customer being burned by equipment inside your establishment is not considered serious. To end the conversation, she asked, "Did you just come to bring it to my attention? Because I can't do anything about it." Once again, there was no apology, no empathy, and no accountability--just an attitude that made it seem like my injury was an inconvenience rather than a legitimate concern. Accidents can happen, and I understand that. What I cannot understand is the complete lack of professionalism, compassion, or willingness to take responsibility afterward. Customer service is measured not only by how businesses perform when everything goes right, but also by how they respond when something goes wrong. I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and extremely disappointed. Because of how this situation was handled, I will not be returning to Barcode, and I hope management takes this review as an opportunity to improve both its safety practices and the way injured customers are treated.
