I am a grilled cheese fanatic. So when I heard about this place, I couldn't wait to try it. It is located on "food truck row" as I have deemed it, in downtown Seaside. My husband chose to try Barefoot BBQ (which he said was great and we're from Memphis, so we're BBQ snobs). So I got the Smokin' Turkey sandwich - which has pepper jack cheese, smoked turkey, bacon, avocado and Albuquerque sauce (spicy ranch). I was not disappointed. It was SO good. I ate the entire thing and was not one bit sorry. I was really determined to try their breakfast and we were able to get it the morning we left to come home. My husband got the Bacon Jam biscuit and he said it was delicious. I tried the Pimento Cheese biscuit which has pimento cheese, bacon, scrambled eggs and strawberry preserves. It was a pretty messy thing to try to eat, but that didn't stop me. It was so good. This place is a must try when visiting Seaside! read more

Not too many vegetarian options that seemed unique. It was just good. I was able to try, the mushroom sandwich, cheese and tomato sandwich and I got the goat cheese and instead of the prosciutto, I put jack cheese. They let me mix items, so I would presume anyone can do that, so there are many combos you can make. Yippie! My sandwich (the prosciutto) substitute was good, the mushroom was great, but the cheese and tomato tasted subpar, you can make that at home. If you like cheese, like myself, than you know that you can easily go to a grocery store and buy good quality cheeses. So when I see a grilled cheese place, I'm assuming there would be something special about something, or a cool combo. But, no. There was nothing special for vegetarians (or special meat eaters) out there. Most were good though. And a heads up for outsiders, The area is a wealthy area, many retired people and people who wouldn't mind spending over 8$ for a good grilled cheese. nice staff, good variety of grilled cheese options. myself and fiancé waited a long time as it was during the lunch hour that we stopped to eat. it was our first time and we enjoyed it. the place has minimal seating and little shade while waiting in line, which is to be expected from an outdoor food truck, but i was disappointed with the chip selection at the time. they had run out of almost all of their usual options and could not offer me anything else from the back other than what was already out when I asked for other options. First of all, I'd like to thank the Meltdown for introducing me to bacon jam. Believe it or not, prior to last summer I did not know that was a thing! The BAC (bacon jam, avocado and cheese) put an end to this ignorance. Dripping with cheese, loaded with bacon jam (a savory slightly sweet alternative to plain old bacon slices) and augmented with fresh avocado slices, this sandwich is delish! Add a cold soda and some spicy habanero chips and you've got yourself a lunch you'll dream about all year. When I got home, I immediately set about making my own bacon jam and when it was a success I passed out jars as favors to the guests at my Christmas party. The influence of this humble grilled cheese airstream reaches far! If you are in the Seaside area, visiting "Airstream Row" as I call it simply must be done. We love this place. It is the best among the airstreams and serves up some delicious specialty grilled cheese sandwiches. Prices are reasonable. My wife and I usually split a sweet and a savory grilled cheese sandwich. The last time we got a meatloaf sandwich which is a little lighter than the one you can get at Cowgirl Kitchen. It was delicious and reminded me a little of lasagna. Then we got the bacon and brie on cranberry bread, which is a regular favorite of ours. Don't waste your money at Pickles. Go to the airstreams instead. And if you are a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches, you won't be disappointed by Meltdown on 30A. read more

I have been dreaming of nothing but Bacon JELLY since my summer vacation to Seaside. BACON JELLY!! Swoon. This little food truck has super yummy food for pretty reasonable touristy prices. My beau had the typical boring grilled cheese (our story: picky eater meets foodie) but I opted for the more adventurous Bacon Avocado Cheddar (B.A.C.) grilled cheese. I was so happy with my choice. My sandwich was big, hot, and fresh with plenty of bacon jelly to spare. Excellent! So needed some comfort food after seafood all week. They use thick Texas toast, making the classic American grilled cheese simply awesome with tons of ooey gooey cheese. The red, white and blue with bacon, Brie, tomato and Carmelized onions was awesome, as was the ham and Gouda. Reasonably priced for the seaside area and family friendly- grab and go to the nearby picnic tables or lawn. Would've been 5 stars had they had childrens tshirts in stock. The woman said the famous "I had a meltdown on 30a" shirt only goes to 4t and then adult sizes. Ok....my 6 year old earned that shirt! Bummer. I want to try just about all of them. Both mine and my wife's were fresh. At the end of the day, it is a warm sandwich, but the quality of meat, cheese, and bread are pretty badass. I love the food here and come here quite often. The only reason for their lower than average rating is the unfortunate experience I had this week. Whenever I order here, I make sure to hold the avocado on my sandwich due to my allergy and its never been a problem. This past Wednesday, I ordered and the guy taking my order was very friendly as usual, but the girls making my sandwich didn't hold the avocado. This didn't upset me, I understand mistakes happen and I also understand removing an item could be troublesome, so I waited until they returned to the window to let them know I couldn't eat this sandwich and showed them my receipt in which it stated this. The first girl threw up her arms and said "Well what do you want me to do? I can't take back the sandwich." It was very uncomfortable and embarrassing to be a part of. I asked if she could make another one and she didn't give me an answer, but the other girl nodded. After 20 additional minutes of waiting for the fixed sandwich, I saw the second girl make my sandwich order without the avocado and asked her if it was mine once she placed it in the pickup window and she said "Um no it's gonna take some time." She made the sandwiches for every person in the line behind me before making my fixed order. I received my fixed sandwich after 30 minutes, but by then my group had finished my eating a while ago. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. 30A is a family spot and it's not cheap to stay here either. I would like to be able to expect some level of kindness. read more

An overpriced grilled cheese, though its fair to say the food on this main part of town is all a bit pricey. Don't know what all the fuzz is about as this was touted as "the best grilled cheese you'll ever have." The three cheese sandwich is forgettable. It just tastes like two slabs of bread with velveeta cheese. We also ordered the pimento cheese sandwich. That one was a lot more interesting, due to the spiciness of the pimento. Needless to say, if you're looking for a healthy option, skip this cart and head over to Raw & Juicy. Also, on the day that we were there they had run out of the tomato soup and feel like maybe we would've liked it better with the soup. OVERALL: A decent place if you're craving a grilled cheese, but head else where if you're looking for a heartier or a healthier meal, and DON'T order the plain and simple grilled cheese, which you can easily make at home. Melt down= LET DOWN Will never be back again!!! I asked for gluten free. The cashier was kind about it. Except only had enough for one sandwich. However the lady with the large scar by her left elbow turned around and gave me a sassy smack and look of disgust when I asked for gluten free. We ordered anyway. My sandwich was not hot. Barely warm. There was barely any cheese on mine. Cheese not melted. My daughter wanted cheddar but I believe they gave her American. It was not melted. The prosciutto was hard and unedible.
