*Note: This is a 4.5 Star review…read more So far, one of the best restaurants that serves legit grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm usually apprehensive ordering grilled cheese sandwiches because, well, it is something that my brother and I make at home. Melt is different because, though they serve grilled cheese, the make theirs over the top! Deciding what to get was no easy feat but I decided to get the Bacon Mac & Grilled Cheesy. It's Maple glazed bacon with 3 cheese mac and cheese sandwiched between honey drizzled sourdough. Oh my goodness! I was full after eating half but couldn't let the second go to waste... It was perfectly pressed on the outside, crispy bacon, super cheesy macaroni, and gooey cheese, and ugh... I just want one now. It was served with a bowl of tomato soup. Can we talk about the other sides? I tried their Chorizo Risotto Balls, Tomato Soup and Butternut Squash Soup. The balls were pretty good but, I wish there were more chorizo bits in it. The tomato soup is "real" tomato soup; it is sour and thick. Not like the soup you get in other restos. The butter squash was sooo comforting! I actually preferred pairing it with my sandwich over the tomato soup. The prices for the sandwiches are pretty high but, the servings are BIG. So, I suggest that you eat here with a friend and share the meal. Best to eat these sandwiches fast and furious to get the ultimate cheesy, stringy experience! :)

The best thing i can say about Melt is that there food gave me a mouth gasm. There has only ever been 2 other restaurants to do that to me. This is a must try

I took the opportunity to find these bagels when my work meeting was situated nearby and I was forced to get my butt to McKinley Hill. I went here for a bagel and instead I got a veggie sandwich because it seemed like a better, heartier choice for someone who is HANGRY. It came with artichokes (which didn't really taste much like anything, but doesn't it make the sandwich description seem much fancier? And the price, higher? I mean at 230 pesos for a veggie sandwich, I would expect rainbows coming out of every bite). I had the mayo replaced with mustard so it's vegan, and the mustard really improved the flavor, as I would imagine if it was mayo it would be bland and tad bit disappointing. The slice of wheat sandwich bread was really soft and beautiful, but it became soggy quite quickly. Guess there's a reason why this place isn't named L.E.S. Sandwiches, because the bagels are really glorious (and vegan!). I decided to get a cinnamon raisin bagel to go, and I'm glad I did because it was really worth the Php60 price tag. It was flavorful, dense and chewy (in a good way), and quite sizeable, too. What a beautiful bagel! If only they would open a branch in Makati... and if they came up with vegan-friendly version of their cream cheese dips...or hummus! I'd be so happy.

Lox, black pepper truffle, garlic and chives, blueberry -- spread 'em thickly on my all-wheat bagel, please!! And guess what, they do fulfill your cream cheese dreams here - get ready a thick, thick, thick bed of cream cheese in between your sliced bagel. And of course, we must talk about the bagel. Probably the best in Manila. Really good texture and flavor. Not bland, not overpowering, just the right punch to complement your cream cheese choice. My favorites? Lox + all-wheat bagel and their blueberry cream cheese + chocolate bagel. Just one rant, though: the place can feel a bit stuffy even with the aircon on full blast. But yeah, good thing their bagels distract from this every single time.

Boy was I wrong. There are various food stalls here and most of them are quite good. This place offers 9 types of sandwiches (you can pay for add-ons too if you like). The price ranges from Php 65 for the tofu sandwich to Php 115 for beef and bacon. Quite a steal actually. And you only need to add Php 20 for some frothy iced tea. I ordered their grilled cheese sandwich and it tastes good, considering the price. The sandwich is made of premium cheese and some garlic sauce. They have pasta, too. I paid Php 70 for a plate of carbonara, and my friend got pesto. Both are pretty decent. So yes, if you're out on lunch and is on a budget, this sandwich place is a must-try.

Bad boyfriend? Dump him. Scale tells you that you still haven't lost those 5 pounds? Throw away that scale and buy a red lipstick. These are things that you can do something about- except for a bad sandwich. Once you eat it, it stays with you forever. This is why in a world filled with sandwiches, you have to find the best one. But therein lies another problem. With so many out there, how do you prevent disappointment? In comes the Sandwich Guy. There's never been a better time to have a sandwich. This is the shop made for the cheese-loving, pork-worshiping and ham-obsessed eaters in Manila. They have the tastiest and meatiest sandwiches around and if you happen to be in the area, pick one up; life is too short to miss out on a good sandwich.

I thought they were opened 24/7? The other night I ordered the chicken pallard salad (which was my favorite), mac and cheese, rosemary chicken with polenta and some rice. The chicken had some spices that made it a bit salty, but it was a pretty healthy meal with grilled chicken and greens. Definitely would be my go to when I think of this place. My family really liked the polenta, mac and cheese, and the chicken. There wasn't anything they disliked except that it may have been a tad on the salty side. May be next time we ask them to go light on the salt?

The search gets even more difficult if you're on the hunt for a healthier alternative. As i discovered though, you don't need to drive outside the area for fresh and delicious fare that's friendly to the pocket--you just have to think outside the box. Santi's Delicatessen is famous for its wide array of meats and cheeses from around the world. What isn't as known - criminally, in my opinion - is that the friendly staff at Santi's will gladly turn these fresh ingredients into a delicious sandwich while you wait! For under two hundred pesos, you can take your pick from their classic sandwich variants but for my money the best value can be found with the most affordable thing on the list: a dutch cheese sandwich on your choice of white or farmer's roll. With friendly prices and fresh ingredients on offer every day, you'd be glad to make it a point to check out Santi's behind Cue on High Street Centrale one of these days!

Santis is one of the places you pass by if you need a specific ingredient (whether it be dry, or something cured like cheese and meat). I would frequent Santis whenever I need to buy European cheeses like Manchego or Camembert. They have an excellent selection of meat as well - you can find prosciutto or salame and they ask you how much you want to buy (so don't feel pressured to buy a lot). For you're in need of wine, they also a whole shelf that caters to different kinds of wine. The place is like a haven of European food - even the European seasonings are available here! It's always nice to pass by Santis because even if you're not going to buy, you learn something new just by looking at the things they sell.
