MELIODA RESTAURANT - WEST HOLLYWOOD I wasn't even planning to eat. I had just wrapped up a business meeting at the W Hotel down the street -- suits, numbers, espresso, the usual "let's build an empire" type of afternoon. I'm walking out, minding my own CEO-level business, and I see this elegant, polished exterior with a name I don't recognize: Melodia. Now listen -- I've lived in LA for 25 years. I've eaten everywhere. Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip, private rooms, chef's tables, hidden gems, overrated hype spots -- you name it. So when something new pops up that actually looks refined? My radar goes off. Curiosity activated. I walk in. First impression? This is not "fancy casual." This is not "cute little European spot." This is Bellagio-meets-private-members-club-meets-executive-dining-retreat energy. Crystal clean design. Elegant atmosphere. Sophisticated but not pretentious. Million-dollar feel without trying too hard. The kind of place where deals get signed and anniversaries get remembered. Now here's the real test -- I ordered very specific traditional Russian and Ukrainian dishes. The kind you don't mess around with. The kind where if they do it right, you immediately know they understand culture, heritage, and technique. And guess what. They didn't just do it right. They elevated it. The flavors? Authentic. The balance? Precise. The execution? Executive-level. And the presentation? Stunning. Not overdone. Not gimmicky. Just refined European artistry on a plate. You can feel the chef respects the roots but operates with fine-dining discipline. This is what happens when traditional Eastern European cuisine meets high-end European culinary training. It's fusion, but intelligent fusion. No shortcuts. No watered-down flavors for tourists. Every bite felt intentional. And the staff? Absolutely adorable yet extremely professional. Warm. Attentive. Polished. No awkward hovering. No attitude. Just smooth hospitality like they actually care. Then I meet the big boss himself -- Vladimir. Pleasant. Composed. Sharp. Business-minded. And here's the part I respect most: he's not just an owner -- he's involved. He personally chefs some of the dishes. That tells you everything. This isn't a passive investment. This is pride. You can feel leadership in the room. In 25 years of dining in Los Angeles, I genuinely have not experienced this exact combination of authenticity, luxury, culture, and executive-level presentation in one place. This isn't just a restaurant. It's a statement. It's a hidden high-roller retreat disguised as a dining room. Total gem. If 10 stars were possible, I'd break the scale. Melodia -- welcome to the big leagues. West Hollywood just leveled up. - Oleg (And yes, I only eat glamour.)

Melodia Restaurant Owner created something unique in West Hollywood, delivering fusion of European and American cuisine that is delicious and presentable. Highly recommend grilled surgeon with beans for light dinner. For borsch lovers - you have to try this colorful and full of flavors borssch.

Didn't know what to expect but overall it was a great experience. Ambiance is above average but nothing to write home about. The service was acceptable, nothing was lacking but nothing was extra or over the top.vkust take order, check in, no small talk, no recommendations. Food was amazing! We had several dishes that we shared and they were all fantastic! Will be back for sure!

Had a wonderful dinner here a couple of days ago. I especially loved the Olivier salad - really appreciate the version without kolbasa, and the little roe topping was very refreshing. My husband enjoyed his beef stroganoff- it was not too heavy or overly saucy. The pelmeni were solid as well, we had a couple of different kinds. He also loved his borsch with salo on the side- normally he hates salo:) but this salo was tasty. Ended up taking two desserts to go and particularly loved the honey cake, which had a distinct buckwheat honey undertone that I really enjoy. Service was attentive and friendly- Margarita is truly an asset to the restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Took out a friend for his birthday to try out this newer Ukrainian-Russian cuisine spot in WeHo and am I happy I ended up here. The food was truly fantastic. We tried a Julianne appetizer, which is essentially sauteed beef with mushrooms in a yummy sauce and wrapped in blintzes. It was incredibly delicious, as the meat filling was just melting in my mouth with every bite. In addition, we tried the famous borscht, the assorted art dumplings and wine-infused beef on a bed of mashed potatoes. All of the above really hit the spot, but the wine-infused beef was the standout for me. The delicious beef cooked in wine was so juicy and tender that it was falling apart as it hit my mouth. The taste was truly incredible, hitting multiple taste notes and it was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes with perfect smooth texture. Truly a masterpiece. At the end of our meal, the kind owner was nice enough to surprise my friend with a cake with a candle. The cake was their artistic take on a honey cake and I must say that it was the best honey cake I've ever had. Multiple layers of the cake complemented each other in perfect harmony, or should I say in perfect melody. The design of the place is very modern and clean, with comfortable chairs and tables for dining in. The customer service was outstanding, from our nice waitress, to the owner paying a visit to our table and telling us about their specialties and the original, artistic way they organize and serve their dishes. In summary, for artistic-looking, delicious European cuisine with great ambience and service, Melodia is the winner and definitely worth a visit!

We had a great time here! Everything we ordered was really good. The beef tartare was amazing, the mushroom soup was so good, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Honestly, we enjoyed every dish. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome. The restaurant has a nice, cozy atmosphere. We'll definitely be back because there are so many more dishes we want to try. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for delicious Russian and Ukrainian food!

Step into the world of Eastern-European cuisine with a modern twist. Every bite was nostalgia, but the service and the presentation did not remind us of communism. We were blown away by how good this spot is. From the classics to the modern creations everything was five stars. We are coming back for the colorful pelmenis for sure.

Great spot for authentic Russian cuisine! The food was flavorful and comforting -- especially the pelmeni and borscht. Cozy atmosphere, generous portions, and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit and I'll be back.

Amazing place to enjoy food, watch beautiful people, and stare at other people's cute dogs. The service is where it falters from a full 5 star restaurant. They are not rude at all. They're actually very nice. They're just overwhelmed. There's basically one guy with an occasional 2nd that are the order taker, server, busser, barista servicing the whole place. You're going to get a lot of "please wait a few minutes", they're going to forget your drinks, it's going to take 15 minutes to get a dessert from the case. Go for the great food. Go for the beautiful atmosphere. But go when you're not busy cuz they'll probably forget your order and you'll have to chase down that very busy server.

It may just also be my favorite deli in LA for anything vegetable/side dish. As other reviews note, the selection of prepared foods for such a small shop is staggering. I've been coming for three years now, and while I'm guilty of ordering my favorites often, I think I'd have a tough time making my way through all of the foods on offer even if I switched it up on each visit. 4 different types of meatballs (the chicken breast one is to die for), lox, cabbage rolls, at least a half dozen cooked seafood options (shout out fish in tomato sauce), stroganoff, 3-4 different types of couscous and plov....and that's only half of the non veggie section. The cakes are great (Black Forest and walnut go hard). The Russian/Ukranian chip flavors rule. There are specialty candies and jarred foods and good looking fruits and veggies. There's an off menu soup with dill and little chicken meatballs that I'd recommend to anyone ailing in a heartbeat. And then, finally, we arrive at the salads and cold veggies. Nonstop bangers. The beet salad with prunes and garlic may sound wild for non Eastern European tastes, but it's unique and addictive and works. The potato salad Olivier? Best potato salad I've ever had. About six years ago, I had been exposed to high levels of radiation according to a good old fashioned Geiger counter. My health began to drastically decline and I became very weak. No market has helped me more in this health effort than this hidden gem. (Many thanks!) I am the customer who buys ALL the boxes of pastilla. (SORRY OTHER CUSTOMERS!) Pastilla is a layered pastry made of baked apples and eggs white, no sugar and nothing else! It's a miracle of a snack! Tastes like apple cake, made of egg whites. I wish there had been more caramelized onions to provide a more tasty contrast with the mild perogies. The highlight was the flaming cherries & cheese (it was cream cheese) crepe. Tasty and fun! The modest sounding chocolate pudding is also surprisingly delicious. Service was attentive.

Polka is a quality Polish restaurant offering authentic polish foods in a cozy ambiance…read more Our family, including my Krakow-born, Polish-speaking and cuisine-discerning spouse, came to Polka on a Saturday evening. Disappointingly quiet, we entered the cozy restaurant adorned by newspaper clips, polish coats of arms, and were greeted by our friendly waiter. I had the meat patties ($24) which were delectable. Rich ground beef and pork spiced perfectly and fried with an accompanying gravy. Rich, but not greasy. My wife had the chicken schnitzel ($30) which was good but not groundbreaking, and the kids a number of perogis ($25) I found excellent. Accompanying the two adult meals was soup (a delectable tomato and a surprisingly sour savory pickle) and salad. We concluded with a delicious strawberry jam crepe ($15, see photo). The soup and meat paddies were the strongest entries on the menu that evening. The service was warm and genuine, taking our order, giving recommendations, communicating in polish as per our preference, and the restaurant was cozy and clean. Prices, as listed above, were reasonable considering the accompanying soup and salad. Overall, Polka is a solid restaurant with excellent food and service at a good price. Delicious, hearty, and with a cozy atmosphere it is perfect for a date or small family looking for a genuine taste of Eastern Europe. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value: 4/5

Absolutely blown away by this place!…read more We started with the beef dumplings and potato dumplings, and the quality and flavor of both were incredible. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. But the potatoes with dill were a game changer. The combination of the crispy potatoes and fresh dill was something I wasn't expecting, but it worked so well. And then there was the sauce--I'm not even sure exactly what was in it. It tasted like ketchup with a little horseradish and a touch of spice, and somehow that combination created an incredible flavor. From the dumplings to the potatoes, everything exceeded my expectations. I will absolutely be coming back! by the way, the service was on point talk about old school hospitality

I wanted so badly to like this place, but I feel disappointed. I really don't get Russian food…read moreoften but I've wanted to try it so I was glad for a Russian place in the area. Bread: 6/10. The brown bread is good, though a bit hard which is fine. That's an 8/10. The sourdough bread is a 4/10 - it's flavorless. It comes with a tiny bit of eggplant spread which is a 6.5/10 and I'm glad I didn't order that. Herring salad: 6.5/10. Would have been a 5/10 had we not ordered bread to go with it. It gets salty. The price is also terrible - $13.75 for a tiny portion, which factored into the rating. Chicken Blintz: 5/10. Had higher hopes but was disappointed. It's mostly just a lot of cream and not enough actual flavor. Was saved by adding some herring salad to it to give it some more flavor, salt, and acidity. We got the bread because the spreads do NOT come with bread, which is crazy considering the price of the spread. Decor is cute. The server was nice. My friend does like this place and this was her second time here, but I can't justify the price and the flavor of what we ordered. Parking is free but in a tiny strip mall so limited parking.

Amazing dark bread with a spread that was also amazing. Not sure what it was...but we used it all.
