MELIODA RESTAURANT - WEST HOLLYWOOD I wasn't even planning to eat. I had just wrapped up a business meeting at the W Hotel down the street -- suits, numbers, espresso, the usual "let's build an empire" type of afternoon. I'm walking out, minding my own CEO-level business, and I see this elegant, polished exterior with a name I don't recognize: Melodia. Now listen -- I've lived in LA for 25 years. I've eaten everywhere. Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip, private rooms, chef's tables, hidden gems, overrated hype spots -- you name it. So when something new pops up that actually looks refined? My radar goes off. Curiosity activated. I walk in. First impression? This is not "fancy casual." This is not "cute little European spot." This is Bellagio-meets-private-members-club-meets-executive-dining-retreat energy. Crystal clean design. Elegant atmosphere. Sophisticated but not pretentious. Million-dollar feel without trying too hard. The kind of place where deals get signed and anniversaries get remembered. Now here's the real test -- I ordered very specific traditional Russian and Ukrainian dishes. The kind you don't mess around with. The kind where if they do it right, you immediately know they understand culture, heritage, and technique. And guess what. They didn't just do it right. They elevated it. The flavors? Authentic. The balance? Precise. The execution? Executive-level. And the presentation? Stunning. Not overdone. Not gimmicky. Just refined European artistry on a plate. You can feel the chef respects the roots but operates with fine-dining discipline. This is what happens when traditional Eastern European cuisine meets high-end European culinary training. It's fusion, but intelligent fusion. No shortcuts. No watered-down flavors for tourists. Every bite felt intentional. And the staff? Absolutely adorable yet extremely professional. Warm. Attentive. Polished. No awkward hovering. No attitude. Just smooth hospitality like they actually care. Then I meet the big boss himself -- Vladimir. Pleasant. Composed. Sharp. Business-minded. And here's the part I respect most: he's not just an owner -- he's involved. He personally chefs some of the dishes. That tells you everything. This isn't a passive investment. This is pride. You can feel leadership in the room. In 25 years of dining in Los Angeles, I genuinely have not experienced this exact combination of authenticity, luxury, culture, and executive-level presentation in one place. This isn't just a restaurant. It's a statement. It's a hidden high-roller retreat disguised as a dining room. Total gem. If 10 stars were possible, I'd break the scale. Melodia -- welcome to the big leagues. West Hollywood just leveled up. - Oleg (And yes, I only eat glamour.)

Didn't know what to expect but overall it was a great experience. Ambiance is above average but nothing to write home about. The service was acceptable, nothing was lacking but nothing was extra or over the top.vkust take order, check in, no small talk, no recommendations. Food was amazing! We had several dishes that we shared and they were all fantastic! Will be back for sure!

Olivier and pelmeni

Had a wonderful dinner here a couple of days ago. I especially loved the Olivier salad - really appreciate the version without kolbasa, and the little roe topping was very refreshing. My husband enjoyed his beef stroganoff- it was not too heavy or overly saucy. The pelmeni were solid as well, we had a couple of different kinds. He also loved his borsch with salo on the side- normally he hates salo:) but this salo was tasty. Ended up taking two desserts to go and particularly loved the honey cake, which had a distinct buckwheat honey undertone that I really enjoy. Service was attentive and friendly- Margarita is truly an asset to the restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Took out a friend for his birthday to try out this newer Ukrainian-Russian cuisine spot in WeHo and am I happy I ended up here. The food was truly fantastic. We tried a Julianne appetizer, which is essentially sauteed beef with mushrooms in a yummy sauce and wrapped in blintzes. It was incredibly delicious, as the meat filling was just melting in my mouth with every bite. In addition, we tried the famous borscht, the assorted art dumplings and wine-infused beef on a bed of mashed potatoes. All of the above really hit the spot, but the wine-infused beef was the standout for me. The delicious beef cooked in wine was so juicy and tender that it was falling apart as it hit my mouth. The taste was truly incredible, hitting multiple taste notes and it was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes with perfect smooth texture. Truly a masterpiece. At the end of our meal, the kind owner was nice enough to surprise my friend with a cake with a candle. The cake was their artistic take on a honey cake and I must say that it was the best honey cake I've ever had. Multiple layers of the cake complemented each other in perfect harmony, or should I say in perfect melody. The design of the place is very modern and clean, with comfortable chairs and tables for dining in. The customer service was outstanding, from our nice waitress, to the owner paying a visit to our table and telling us about their specialties and the original, artistic way they organize and serve their dishes. In summary, for artistic-looking, delicious European cuisine with great ambience and service, Melodia is the winner and definitely worth a visit!

Great spot for authentic Russian cuisine! The food was flavorful and comforting -- especially the pelmeni and borscht. Cozy atmosphere, generous portions, and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit and I'll be back.

Step into the world of Eastern-European cuisine with a modern twist. Every bite was nostalgia, but the service and the presentation did not remind us of communism. We were blown away by how good this spot is. From the classics to the modern creations everything was five stars. We are coming back for the colorful pelmenis for sure.

It was such an amazing experience trying a new place for our family celebration. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to feel truly special!

Our family of four had a great dinner here. We'd been hoping for another Eastern European-style restaurant in the area, and this one is perfect. The ambience is cozy, the music is pleasant, and the service is excellent. We loved the food and presentation, and the portions were just right for trying several dishes. We'll definitely be back.

I believe it was a bit pricey, however. We agreed on each of the dishes we tried so here is the breakdown: Pelmeni with Beef (2/5): was not a fan as the dough did not seem to be fully cooked and the beef was a bit tough and too chewy. This was our least favorite dish, but it is one of their top dishes. Perhaps it was just a bad day for them... Holubtsi with Beef (4/5): this dish was a lot tastier and although the beef was also tough, the flavor was really great. Would recommend going with this option over the above. Syrnyky Classic (5/5): best dish we had, by far. It was cooked to perfection, so soft, and so tasty. The staff here are also very sweet. You order at the counter, they give you your number, and you bring it back to your table. Overall not bad. I would go back if I had someone else with me who wanted to try this spot.

The Beef Plav here contains a generous amount of tender, lean beef with carrots, savory buttery rice and whole softly roasted garlic cloves. Yum! (Five stars!) About six years ago, I had been exposed to high levels of radiation according to a good old fashioned Geiger counter. My health began to drastically decline and I became very weak.
