Not heavy and greasy like other places. The dough is light and fluffy but very filling. Don't let the sizes throw you off. A large (8 pieces) was more than enough to feed my husband and teenage son. There was actually 3 pieces left over. My son had the smash burger and tots. He says the pizza was better. I ordered the steak and cheese calzone. The vegetables were uncooked and raw. I've lived within 3 miles of this location for two years and pass it constantly on my trips to Lowe's. We finally decided to kick off the New Year here for our first meal out, and it was a great choice. The Service: Incredibly efficient. Our server was on top of it--drinks stayed refilled, and the food came out to the table very quickly. The Food: * Cheese Bread: We started with this as an appetizer. It was decent, but honestly nothing to write home about. * Mighty Meaty Pizza: This was the highlight! It's loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, and honey ham. The best part? We also had the chicken wings with ranch and the pretzel bites with beer cheese as appetizers. They were both really good! It's unfortunate to pay $13.17 for a mocktail and a lil Caesar salad, and they deliver it to you and say, "the kitchen had told me that we were out of romaine lettuce, is that okay?" And after you try it, asks if it's okay, and a thumbs up is warranted for a full price salad and drink. Just not worth the price. Salad was okay. Drink was good. Service was okay, Nevaeh did deliver the drink and food promptly but if I had known there wasn't romaine lettuce I would have ordered something else as I was charging and on a limited time table. Craving some Mellow Mushroom for an early bday lunch break. Decided to try out the location in Lakeland. It is a very cool looking building with a whole Star Wars/Transformers theme. The server, I didn't catch her name, but she was a lovely and happy lady brought my Holy Shiitake pie and Chili Thai wings right out. I was very excited. As per usual, The Mellow Mushroom did not disappoint! Excellent toppings, flavor and doughy crust. Wings were on point. Carrots/celery sticks with bleu cheese dipping sauce hit the spot. We were starved like crazy when we saw the sign from the highway and we're so glad we came for dinner! It's a family friendly place with great beers also We had a absolute gem of a server Elle or Ellie on Sunday night. She was on top her game, refills came fast and she had great suggestions. We had the caprese salad that was good, but typical. The star app was definitely the hot spinach and artichoke dip... if I was at home I would have licked the bowl. It was the best I have ever had. Two small pizzas was a ton of food but we love cold pizza for breakfast! The crust is thin for us but more of a hand tossed style. We really liked it! We haven't been to a Mellow Mushroom in quite a while and found this one by accident. This is located in a strange (to us) area of Lakeland, sort of in a large swath of vacant land near the toll road. The little "mall" area it's in holds a Lowe's and a Wendy's as well, so there is more than enough parking. This seems to be a popular place too. It's very large inside with tables and booths. Statuary outside and in, and lots of murals. Bright and colorful. We decided to try something completely different, instead of our standard favorites, so we ordered the Oven Baked Wings as an appetizer. I asked if the hot was actually hot and our lovely waitress said that she's never heard of them being sent back. Spoiler Alert: They aren't hot. Hah! Anyway, the wings are delicious even if they aren't hot. I'd say they are definitely on the milder side of medium but had great flavor. For pizza, we ordered the Great White in thin crust, medium size. (Should have ordered the small, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs.) One small edge was a bit over browned (not quite burned), no big deal. The thin crust was perfect, cooked all the way to the middle with no soft, soggy bits. Toppings were delicious. This is our first time not ordering pizza at Mellow Mushroom. Their other menu items are good. Cheese bread was delicious, burger well cooked, pretzel bites are good, they seem to be made out of their pizza dough so a really neat take on a pretzel. Next time we will ask for pizza sauce to go along with the pretzels. The house salad was okay, the small was the perfect size. The only thing we wish would have been cooked differently is the tots, they were so soft, Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside is how I prefer them to be prepared. I've been to another Mellow Mushroom location in Gainesville but this location was much cooler. There's a Bumblebee transformer welcoming you outside. Inside, there is a big bar area with tons of beer on tap. The staff is great, knowledgeable on the menu and gave us samples of the beer we were hesitant on. Besides pizza, Mellow Mushroom also has an array of sandwiches, salad, soups and delicious appetizers. We had a few apps to start: Bruschetta - loaded with tomatos and basil topped with feta cheese and drizzled in balsamic vinegar. It was great! Cheesy Garlic Bread - I think I liked this more than the pizza itself. SO much cheese on top and tipped in the warm marinara sauce, it was amazing. Buffalo Chicken Wings - I didn't try it but my table mates enjoyed it. Meat Lovers Pizza - with bacon, pepperoni, italian sauce with red sauce. This was a thin crust pizza and I must say, it is pretty tasty. However, I think it falls along the line of fast food pizza. Veggie Pizza - with olives, green peppers, tomato and red onions. Great for vegetarians. I wouldn't deem it as super healthy as pizza shouldn't be considered that but this was definitely lighter than the meat lovers option. Detoured off I4 for some pizza and this unique Mellow Mushroom did not disappoint. Pretzel bites (garlic butter) utilized their already perfect pizza dough into a delicious appetizer. Not on this menu, we asked for a large Loaded Baked Potato Pizza and it hit the spot. The only criticism is that the potatoes were in chunks instead of thinly sliced. The potatoes did not overwhelm the pizza, which also included bacon, sour cream, ranch and some other fixings. If you're hungry, go for this beast! A belly filler for sure. We LOVE this location! After going to the Brandon location for years, we came across this one and checked it out. This location is MUCH bigger in a stand alone building. We have come to Lakeland at prime dinner time and been seated right away. The food is always delicious! If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out! They have the best pizza crust ever. There are several specialty pizzas, and you can also do build your own. They offer GF and DF pizza. There are yummy starters and other options beside pizza. Calzones, salads, etc. One is my favorite parts about mellow mushroom is the beer selection. They have several local craft beers to choose from. We ordered the pretzel bites with beer cheese and the Pacific rum pizza this visit. I checked in after we had ordered and got a coupon for the pretzel bites!! Awesome!! The overall atmosphere of this restaurant was very fun with all of the decor and music. When we went on a Friday late afternoon for lunch it was pretty empty. Our server was very attentive and very helpful. I couldn't decide which pizza to get so she let me know I could do half & half. We started with the oven roasted wings (sweet Thai chili) that weren't bad but not great. I had to ask for an extra side of the sauce because they were pretty bland. The pizzas came out shortly after which we were excited to try because that's what they are known for. My husband & I each got our own bbq chicken and neither of us ate more than one piece. The onions tasted sour, the bbq sauce was not the best, and the chicken did not taste fresh (it reminded us of bagged chicken and it was rubbery). The buffalo chicken however was much better in my opinion with the cheese/sauce minus the chicken for the same reason. My husband said the cheese pizza reminded him of school pizza (Big Daddy's) which he ate but would not get it again. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to get this food again however if I'm in that area I wouldn't mind giving them another try. read more

This particular location is sci-fi themed; Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor who, transformers, you name it! That's my jam! The pizza is pretty great. Today I tried the Maui Wowie personal pizza; tasty goodness. It's a pesto sauce pizza with grilled chicken, bacon, banana peppers and pineapple; all my favorite things! And even as a person size, I only ate half. It's a good size. Hubs had a sausage calzone; super heavy and filling so he didn't get through much but he enjoyed it. Kid got the pretzel kids meal. She ate one pretzel. That's good for her! They do take quite a bit of time to get your order out so if you're in a hurry, maybe order ahead. They do offer delivery, as well, through Bite Squad. Not super cheap; we got out of there at right around $40; not too bad. They're trying to do away with straws, too, so do your part!
