Not heavy and greasy like other places. The dough is light and fluffy but very filling. Don't let the sizes throw you off. A large (8 pieces) was more than enough to feed my husband and teenage son. There was actually 3 pieces left over. My son had the smash burger and tots. He says the pizza was better. I ordered the steak and cheese calzone. The vegetables were uncooked and raw. First time trying Mellow Mushroom and definitely our last. The service was great, but the food was honestly disgusting. We ordered a Half & Half Pie with Pacific Rim on one side and Holy Shiitake on the other, plus the Apple Harvest salad. The salad was actually really good and was the only edible part of the meal. The pizza was absolutely swimming in grease, and the Holy Shiitake side was by far the worst. I took one bite of the mushrooms and almost threw up because they were drenched in greasy, garlicky oil. It was so rich and oily that there was no actual flavor left besides garlic and grease. A pizza slice should be able to lift up, not fall to the plate in greasy cheese and not be able to pick up. It did not pass the lift test. The table itself was clean, but my water cup had a dark soda ring around the bottom, which was gross and made me question whether the cup had been properly cleaned. The table behind us also left most of their food and walked out before we did, even though we were there for less than an hour, which honestly says a lot. When the pizza came out, it was a medium size pizza and it literally has three specs of spinach on it the size of a pencil eraser. It was an extra two dollars or something like that for the topping and there was two cents worth of spinach on that pizza. So the waitress brings us the pizza That was ordered with the wrong crust so she's sorry, but she forgot to put it in as a thin crust and set the pizza dough and expected us to eat the thick crust pizza. The pizza was terrible. And the toppings on it were nonexistent. Craving some Mellow Mushroom for an early bday lunch break. Decided to try out the location in Lakeland. It is a very cool looking building with a whole Star Wars/Transformers theme. The server, I didn't catch her name, but she was a lovely and happy lady brought my Holy Shiitake pie and Chili Thai wings right out. I was very excited. Our service tonight with Bella was 5 star all the way. My husband's California club sandwich was generous and tasty. HOWEVER the "pretzel bites" I ordered were a total disappointment. Since when do pretzel bites look like breadstick bites, especially when they're sprinkled with Parmesan cheese? The beer cheese did absolutely nothing to help the situation. It's a family friendly place with great beers also We had a absolute gem of a server Elle or Ellie on Sunday night. She was on top her game, refills came fast and she had great suggestions. We had the caprese salad that was good, but typical. The star app was definitely the hot spinach and artichoke dip... if I was at home I would have licked the bowl. It was the best I have ever had. Two small pizzas was a ton of food but we love cold pizza for breakfast! The crust is thin for us but more of a hand tossed style. We really liked it! My only complaint was on the bbq chicken the chicken chunks are too big! But really that's such a small thing. Honestly we left and my husband said she was really good at her job. This is located in a strange (to us) area of Lakeland, sort of in a large swath of vacant land near the toll road. The little "mall" area it's in holds a Lowe's and a Wendy's as well, so there is more than enough parking. This seems to be a popular place too. It's very large inside with tables and booths. Statuary outside and in, and lots of murals. Bright and colorful. We decided to try something completely different, instead of our standard favorites, so we ordered the Oven Baked Wings as an appetizer. I asked if the hot was actually hot and our lovely waitress said that she's never heard of them being sent back. Spoiler Alert: They aren't hot. Hah! Anyway, the wings are delicious even if they aren't hot. I'd say they are definitely on the milder side of medium but had great flavor. For pizza, we ordered the Great White in thin crust, medium size. (Should have ordered the small, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs.) One small edge was a bit over browned (not quite burned), no big deal. The thin crust was perfect, cooked all the way to the middle with no soft, soggy bits. Toppings were delicious. Nice beer and booze menu, we were tempted but we still had plenty of errands to run. Definitely looking forward to returning! read more

Cheese bread was delicious, burger well cooked, pretzel bites are good, they seem to be made out of their pizza dough so a really neat take on a pretzel. Next time we will ask for pizza sauce to go along with the pretzels. The house salad was okay, the small was the perfect size. The only thing we wish would have been cooked differently is the tots, they were so soft, Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside is how I prefer them to be prepared. I've been to another Mellow Mushroom location in Gainesville but this location was much cooler. There's a Bumblebee transformer welcoming you outside. Inside, there is a big bar area with tons of beer on tap. The staff is great, knowledgeable on the menu and gave us samples of the beer we were hesitant on. Besides pizza, Mellow Mushroom also has an array of sandwiches, salad, soups and delicious appetizers. We had a few apps to start: Bruschetta - loaded with tomatos and basil topped with feta cheese and drizzled in balsamic vinegar. It was great! Cheesy Garlic Bread - I think I liked this more than the pizza itself. SO much cheese on top and tipped in the warm marinara sauce, it was amazing. Buffalo Chicken Wings - I didn't try it but my table mates enjoyed it. Meat Lovers Pizza - with bacon, pepperoni, italian sauce with red sauce. This was a thin crust pizza and I must say, it is pretty tasty. However, I think it falls along the line of fast food pizza. Veggie Pizza - with olives, green peppers, tomato and red onions. Great for vegetarians. I wouldn't deem it as super healthy as pizza shouldn't be considered that but this was definitely lighter than the meat lovers option. Not on this menu, we asked for a large Loaded Baked Potato Pizza and it hit the spot. The only criticism is that the potatoes were in chunks instead of thinly sliced. The potatoes did not overwhelm the pizza, which also included bacon, sour cream, ranch and some other fixings. If you're hungry, go for this beast! A belly filler for sure. Its a very open space so You don't have to be near the bar if you don't want. It also looked very clean. I got the great white pizza and it's still just as good as I remembered.
