I have had a couple of consultations with Dr. Pendergrass over the past couple of years concerning getting a hysterectomy. I hestitated for many reasons but my body eventually decided for me. I had everything removed: cervix, ovaries and Fallopian tubes. I had a large fibroid and Stage 4 endometriosis. I figured out that I was in pain for 10+ years. I thought this was my fate. I was having a particularly rough time in October and my iron was way below normal. It was determined that I had to make this decision for my health. The whole process to get me in was rushed but totally organized, thought out and I was handled with the best of care. Dr. Pendergrass is phenomenally talented. I did not have any pain as I recovered. I was out having breakfast three days after surgery! Legacy Hospital was top notch, Dr Pendergrass so skilled and kind, informative and truly wants her patients to live their best lives. Dr. Pendergrass performed a hysterectomy on me in June 2022 and my experience with her was FANTASTIC. If you are looking for a physician who will listen to you, advocate for you, and take your pain seriously, I strongly recommend Dr. Pendergrass. I felt respected and heard throughout all my interactions with her. I had been living with bad period pain and was diagnosed with fibroids by a different doctor who referred me to her, but I figured that excruciating monthly pain was just the price of having a uterus and I should just live with it. During our first consultation Dr. Pendergrass encouraged me to not downplay the pain I was in and gave me facts and information that helped me decide to go forward with the hysterectomy, which was an option I hadn't even considered before talking to her. When I had concerns up until the morning of surgery, she took the time to discuss and answer my questions fully. The surgery went extremely smoothly, and the post-op pain at its worst was less than half of what I had previously experienced every month. Dr. Pendergrass responded very quickly to all of my questions through the patient app both before and after surgery. She is honest, funny, she listened to me, and and she introduced me to treatment options I didn't know were available to me. She tried to find out what hormonal issues I was having with my heavy periods (after we ruled out endometriosis) but then she just kind of shrugged her shoulders and recommended an IUD (as do most gynecologists, unfortunately). She never went deeper... I prefer to not have foreign objects in my body so when I opted to have it removed for my menstrual issues, she LAUGHED in my face and said "good luck!" As in, "I know you'll fail!" Well, I didn't fail. I went to my Naturopath and she gave me a massive blood test revealing extremely low progesterone (causing major inflammation) among many other deficiencies (easy to find online after some time and research on my end as well...). My Naturopath then offered several suggestions in terms of herbs, vitamins and nutritional remedies. I can confidently say my Naturopath was on my side, helping me dig deeper. Dr. Pendergrass was more interested in trying to put a Band-Aid remedy on my inflammation that would only help her pay her bills. I actually don't fault her too much for this, as this is what you get from most Med schools -- cover it up until something else happens and then prescribe more pills or intervention until it all spirals out of control and your hormones are out of whack the rest of your life or you opt to get a hysterectomy... because, what other options are there that far down the rabbit hole? I haven't been back to Dr. Pendergrass and am so thankful I listened to my gut. Modern medicine has its benefits, don't get me wrong. I like her as a person... she's sweet and kind. But when it comes to women's hormones -- don't just listen to one doctor. read more

If you are looking for a gynecologist, Dr. Pendergrass is definitely the best choice! She is so caring, listening to all your questions and answering with patience. I'm a surgical case and my problem is urgent. Dr. Pendergrass was able to squeeze her schedule to find me the earliest appointment. The surgery went great and the pain level is minimum. Dr. Pendergrass is one in a million. I came to her from a previous, not so great Gynecologist experience and so many previous trips to the ER. I came to Dr. Pendergrass seeking a second opinion on what my next steps should be. She was amazing! I was able to get in, go over my medical history including my four fibroids as well as my Adenomyosis and Endometriosis, we scheduled to have a surgery. My surgery was a little under 2 months ago. Dr. Pendergrass performed a robotic assisted, laparoscopic total hysterectomy and appendectomy on me. She not only completed the procedures I needed in one surgery, but she also was able to see that I do not in fact have endometriosis. I was misdiagnosed by other Dr.'s 13 years ago. My fibroids and adenomyosis are now gone and I am healing really well from surgery. My in office appointments with Dr. Pendergrass were not only informative but her staff, especially her wonderful Nurse Katarina who is professional and very sincere. Dr. Pendergrass has literally given me back the opportunity to have children!!! I was diagnosed with fibroids in 2012 and over the past 5 years I have had a total of 3 myomectomy surgeries. The first two procedures were not successful in removing a large fibroid that obstructed my ovaries and caused significant challenges in getting pregnant. Unfortunately the previous two doctors that performed my surgeries felt that by removing the fibroid I was at risk of losing my uterus. However, the fertility clinic I had worked with explained the complications of the fibroid and stated that not only was it too dangerous to try to remove my eggs, but that it may cause issues if I were able to get pregnant. I was referred to Dr. Pendergrass and she was confident that she would be able to remove the "troubled" fibroid. On the day of the surgery I was still extremely skeptical that the operation would be a success. Upon waking up in the hospital Dr. Pendergrass informed me that she was able to remove a total of 6 fibroids including the large one that had caused so many problems! The fibroid was bigger than my uterus and was hiding endometriosis tissue that had previously been undiagnosed. I was so relieved that I still tear up thinking about the impact this one surgeon has had on my life. I am more grateful to Dr. Pendergrass than she will ever know and I HIGHLY recommend her to any patient that suffers from fibroids and/or endometriosis. Her talent/skill is exceptional and I am so lucky to have found her. I am waiting for full recovery before implanting my embryos, but am hopeful for success thanks to Dr. Pendergrass!!! read more

Absolutely loved seeing this Doctor and her team! As someone who has struggled for years with my hormones and various other issues, it was so refreshing to spend time with folks who get it. Ultrasounds and certain exams can be really painful for me, and usually end with me in tears. Her ultrasound tech was so patient and kind, always willing to stop and listen when I felt uncomfortable. I just started seeing Dr. Pendergrass in January. She has been the best. I haven't found a doctor that would do anything about my endometriosis and she immediately wanted to do surgery to actually help me with my pain. Dr. Pendergrass is amazing! She took her time with me at every appointment and really listened to me. I went to her for a second opinion after another Dr advised me if I had a hysterectomy they would have to do an open abdominal and I wouldn't be able to keep my ovaries. Not only did Dr Pendergrass do the surgery laparoscopic I kept both ovaries. The surgery went great and so has recovery. Her staff is great too always responding to any online questions I had as well. She is a treasure to anyone who has been dismissed she really cares. read more

Dr. Pendergrass is absolutely amazing! I have had abnormal paps since my 20s (I'm now in my 40s) and the doctors I have seen have always just "watched" me by having me get a colposcopy every year, not fun. I decided that I needed a change because I wanted to be proactive about my health. Thank goodness I found Dr. Pendergrass, I can't say enough great things about her. She is intelligent, caring, compassionate, confident and takes her time with you to make sure you are comfortable with all decisions. I had a hysterectomy about 2 months ago and have had NO problems. My two girlfriends had hysterectomies within 2 weeks of mine, different doctors, and have had several issues. I did not have any of their problems because of Dr. Pendergrass, she is proactive before, during, and after surgery. I can't thank her enough for all her superior care! read more

I was so enthusiastic about meeting Dr. Pendergrass. She was really great. Unfortunately after two years, I'm not able to go there anymore. When calling for my women's annual appointment, I was told their office is not accepting appointments for annuals or paps as a service because insurance is not paying them. I confirmed my insurance benefits will pay and they emailed me back that they only conduct a "reduced annual" and cannot do it unless there are other special issues involved (for insurance to pay). I called my insurance and they verified that I do have coverage for a women's annual, a primary care annual, a pap, and mammogram EVERY year and then called Dr. Pendergrass' office but they would not take me on due to the chance they won't get paid by insurance. They said their reduced annual doesn't include blood tests as a primary care facility would do, but I let them know every gynecologist I have attended never did blood tests either and all offer this "reduced annual." Save your frustration and seek a new provider! After two confusing emails and having to call them, I told them they need to just let patients know they no longer offer these services at all. In fact, I'm not sure how a gynecologist can be of service if they do not provide annuals and paps. They need someone to work on insurance coding for them. Too bad. read more

Wow wow wow! I can not say that enough! After years of being gaslighted by medical professionals I was prepared for her to tell me I'm fat and loose the weight the pain will stop. Instead she sat next to me, it felt like I was talking to an old friend. She spent an hour going over options, leaving choices to me for my body. Living with endometriosis pain, exams are hell for me. I barely felt hers, when they say "hands of a surgeon" I now know what that means. Her kindness and care radiate from every ounce of her being. After receiving less than perfect news from an annual exam with my PCP, and a bad experience with an extremely busy "women's center", I did my research and read several reviews online trying to find someone who met my standards. My main concerns were: being listened to, full explanations on what was going on with me, knowledge of the clinic staff, and getting a prompt response from the Dr. or nurse when I had additional follow up questions. Dr. Pendergrass and the clinic staff were spot on with what I expected from a visit and with the follow up. She takes the time to explain everything in depth, and in a way that I could understand. She is friendly and relates her own personal experiences to mine. She is also very through and had reviewed my chart and test results before my first visit and asked a lot of questions about my history. I will be a patient as long as she stays in the area, Dr. Pendergrass is awesome! read more

Dr. Pendergrass is a fantastic doctor! She was compassionate, funny, and extremely knowledgeable. I have struggled with severe endometriosis my whole adult life and Dr. Pendergrass performed a total hysterectomy. I feel like a new person. Everything went exactly as she said it would (including the recovery time almost to the day). I only wish I had started seeing her sooner. I wholeheartedly recommend her. I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Pendergrass. Being a young female and having your first gynecology appointment can be intimidating but Dr. Pendergrass (and the whole staff for that matter!) exceeded every single one of my expectations. Dr. Pendergrass is extremely friendly, will offer you advice specific to your wants/needs/health and will offer her personal experiences. She was so kind and understanding and answered every single question I had and never seemed annoyed. Her MA Katerina is absolutely PHENOMENAL and together they make the absolute ideal team. I brought my best friend back with me and they were so kind to her as well and acknowledged her instead of leaving her in the corner and were happy to answer her questions as well and listened to her input. After many years of being unheard and made to feel like it was all in my head, I feel so lucky to have found Dr Pendergrass. I went in thinking it was going to be my last attempt to get help for my pain and that this would be like all the other appointments I've had. I'm so happy to say that I was wrong. Everyone that I encountered that first day made me feel that my problems were real and they were there to help. I almost didn't believe it, it was so different. I had some very real problems and ended up having a hysterectomy. Dr Pendergrass explained everything to me, gave me all the information I needed to make my decision, and was so compassionate and kind that I felt instantly comfortable with her. My recovery has been great. She and her team did an amazing job removing a ton of endometriosis and my huge ugly uterus. This is going to be a real life changer for me.
