Well, you probably don't recognize me with the new shampoo commercial hair…read more..
How did I end up here? My wife took a photo where the back of my head was showing, there was a significant loss of hair. I'm 6ft2, so it's not like many people look up there. I'd noticed hair on my pillow and didn't really think much of it.
I made the appointment with Dr. Husain, he examined my head, and informed me that this was common, it was alopecia, which runs in my family. I was surprised, as I thought alopecia impacted small areas, where as my head had significant hair loss. Dr. Husain explained that it was exacerbated by stress. Looking back, this was during Covid, and although I had hidden the stress, my body was still showing signs.
Dr. Husain put together a plan, consisting of 4 parts:
1. PRP (platelet rich plasma): essentially taking your own plasma centrifuged from your blood, injected into your scalp.
2. Topical: similar to Rogaine, but much stronger.
3. Medication: to prevent one hormone from turning into another, causing hair loss.
4. Light emitting helmet.
If you're looking for cheap, this is not the place for you. However, after reading reviews and talking to a family member working in the field, I didn't want cheap, I wanted an expert.
Unfortunately, Everyone has jumped on the PRP bandwagon, as a result you essentially have dentists administering this type of treatment, folks who have added this to their "menu" to make some money. After my 4th treatment, I asked the Doctor why he hadn't cross sold me any products, and he responded by informing me that he didn't believe I needed anything he sold at his practice. I purchased the helmet, and the recommended shampoo from their respective websites, as a result only purchasing the PRP from the practice.
If you're concerned about hair loss, and do not want to be sold, I strongly recommend meeting with Dr. Husain for an honest dialogue. After 6 months, I've noticed a significant difference, and the before and after photos reflect significant growth.
