Beware of Real Estate agent Kathleen (Kathy) Louise Betancourt License # SL3178623 who is employed…read moreby Re-Max Anchor Realty located at 8379 Gasparilla Rd, Port Charlotte, Florida. As a licensed Ca. agent I provided Kathy Betancourt with two properties to list for sale. Our written agreement provided a 25% agent referral fee to me. Kathy failed to disclose she had a financial interest in the title co. that handled the escrows. I only learned of this after there were multiple problems with the escrow co. giving me inaccurate information along with repeated delays with both escrows, resulting in the buyer of one property cancelling escrow. Despite the fact I found another buyer for that 2nd property, Kathy was still paid her listing agent fee on it. KATHY BETANCOURT NEVER PAID ME MY 25% REFERRING AGENT FEE. She ignored my emails and phone calls. I contacted her real estate office and broker/owner Philip Farhat, and got nothing but the runaround and no calls back. If this agent and her office would cheat me out of a minimal agent referral fee, I shutter to think how they would treat sellers or buyers on larger scale transactions, especially ones from out of town, such as myself! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO KATHY BETANCOURT OR RE-MAX ANCHOR REALTY. THEY ARE UTTERLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISHONEST.

This company has been nothing but a headache for us…read more Multiple months in a row, we have received an "insufficient funds" error when attempting to pay our rent, despite having more than enough money in the account to cover it. Strangely, we have never had an issue with the payment going through the following day -- after late penalties have gone into effect. Maintenance has been just as frustrating. On multiple occasions, Main Street Renewal has scheduled maintenance appointments that we rearranged our work schedules to accommodate, only for no one to show up. We were not contacted to let us know the technician wasn't coming. Yet if we are unavailable when a technician arrives, there is an additional fee charged to us. Most recently, we waited through an entire scheduled appointment window and no one came. When the appointment was rescheduled, we received a notification saying the technician was "on the way" HOURS BEFORE the appointment window shown in the app. It has now been almost two hours since we received that notification, and no one has arrived. Apparently tenants are expected to make themselves available whenever it is convenient for Main Street Renewal, regardless of the appointment window they provide. We have also had maintenance requests simply closed without the problem being resolved. We had a PVC pipe burst and called maintenance. My husband attempted to temporarily seal it while we waited because, obviously, we could not allow water to continue leaking. When maintenance arrived, we were told they could not do anything because the pipe was no longer actively leaking. The maintenance request was then CLOSED without the damaged PVC actually being replaced or the underlying issue being resolved. Between the rent-payment errors that conveniently seem to resolve after late fees apply, maintenance appointments that are missed without notice, fees tenants can be charged when the situation is reversed, and unresolved maintenance requests being closed, I have lost trust in this company. Based on our experience, the repeated inconveniences and fees have left me questioning whether some of these practices are designed to generate additional charges. At a minimum, the lack of accountability and respect for tenants' time is unacceptable. I highly recommend renting through virtually anyone else.

Main Street Renewal expects prospective tenants to pay a $55…read moreapplication fee per adult and, if approved, a $500 reservation deposit before they're even allowed to see the home in person. No reputable landlord should expect people to commit hundreds of dollars to a property they haven't been permitted to inspect. This process shifts all of the risk onto the renter while asking them to trust the company blindly. I immediately walked away and rented elsewhere. I hope they change this policy before more renters waste their time and money.
