This company has been nothing but a headache for us. Multiple months in a row, we have received an "insufficient funds" error when attempting to pay our rent, despite having more than enough money in the account to cover it. Strangely, we have never had an issue with the payment going through the following day -- after late penalties have gone into effect. Maintenance has been just as frustrating. On multiple occasions, Main Street Renewal has scheduled maintenance appointments that we rearranged our work schedules to accommodate, only for no one to show up. We were not contacted to let us know the technician wasn't coming. Yet if we are unavailable when a technician arrives, there is an additional fee charged to us. Most recently, we waited through an entire scheduled appointment window and no one came. When the appointment was rescheduled, we received a notification saying the technician was "on the way" HOURS BEFORE the appointment window shown in the app. It has now been almost two hours since we received that notification, and no one has arrived. Apparently tenants are expected to make themselves available whenever it is convenient for Main Street Renewal, regardless of the appointment window they provide. We have also had maintenance requests simply closed without the problem being resolved. We had a PVC pipe burst and called maintenance. My husband attempted to temporarily seal it while we waited because, obviously, we could not allow water to continue leaking. When maintenance arrived, we were told they could not do anything because the pipe was no longer actively leaking. The maintenance request was then CLOSED without the damaged PVC actually being replaced or the underlying issue being resolved. Between the rent-payment errors that conveniently seem to resolve after late fees apply, maintenance appointments that are missed without notice, fees tenants can be charged when the situation is reversed, and unresolved maintenance requests being closed, I have lost trust in this company. Based on our experience, the repeated inconveniences and fees have left me questioning whether some of these practices are designed to generate additional charges. At a minimum, the lack of accountability and respect for tenants' time is unacceptable. I highly recommend renting through virtually anyone else. read more

Absolutely absurd rental policy. Main Street Renewal expects prospective tenants to pay a $55 application fee per adult and, if approved, a $500 reservation deposit before they're even allowed to see the home in person. No reputable landlord should expect people to commit hundreds of dollars to a property they haven't been permitted to inspect. This process shifts all of the risk onto the renter while asking them to trust the company blindly. I immediately walked away and rented elsewhere. This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a rental property. When we moved in, our home was not move-in ready. The house was filthy, and many things were broken. The backyard was full of needles, making it unsafe and unusable for our small children. They are also not honoring the special deal they promoted of half off the second month's rent. Instead, we are being told we will be charged a late fee if we do not pay the full amount. To make matters worse, our AC has been out since Labor Day night, and there has been no urgency in getting it repaired. We were told someone would come look at it on Friday, but that does not guarantee it will be fixed that day. Based on their track record, we are assuming we will be without AC through the weekend. We live in Florida, where the weather is hot and humid. It is so hot in the house that it is actually cooler outside. I have emailed, called, and texted multiple managers, area managers, and leasing agents, yet I have not received any responses to my concerns. I would not recommend anyone rent from this company. No matter how good their deals sound, it is not worth the hassle. 1-Star Review - Extremely Unprofessional & Unsafe Living Conditions I have been renting from Main Street Renewal and my experience has been a nightmare. For over 4 months, I have been dealing with an ongoing mold infestation and serious repair issues that have still not been resolved. The company has shown zero urgency, zero communication, and zero accountability. They send random contractors to my home with no notice, sometimes not even knowing what work needs to be done. Several have left the job unfinished, including leaving open walls that expose the attic, causing my A/C to escape and my utility bills to rise. Some work orders were marked "completed" even though nothing was actually finished. Main Street Renewal refuses to offer any rent concessions, relocation, or even a basic timeline for repairs, even while I am living in a hazardous environment. The property has had active leaks, and instead of sending an emergency plumber, I was literally told to shut the water off to the entire house to "prevent damage" -- as if living without running water is acceptable. Every time I ask for answers, I'm told someone will "reach out," and then the communication stops. 4 months later, the mold is still here, the work is still incomplete, and I'm still paying full rent for an unsafe home. Renters: avoid Main Street Renewal at all costs. They are quick to take your money, but when it comes to basic habitability, they disappear. I am offering to get an AC person out here or authorization to buy window units since this maintenance team seems to keep blowing this off. As much as we pay for rent, we should be able to have someone right away for this issue. I am a senior with lung issues with 2 kids in the house. Poor poor service and communication. I am being told I can't speak to anyone and also being denied corporate information so that I can contact either the maintenance supervisor or the property manager. As large as your organization is. this is extremely poor service wihtout any regard to your residents urgent need of assistance. Once again denying me to be able to call an AC technician or purchase any window units. 5 phone calls. I have rented from this company for years and the biggest issue is they never want to repair anything if they do it's crap work most of the techs are not qualified to do the repairs and when they need a vendor they never want to approve bids I had water damage in my master bath that ruined the cabinet it's been almost three months with no replacement and they keep denying vendor bids read more

our water system is shot. the salt is one big massive block and over the last two weeks that we moved in, the smell and color of water has been and overwhelming smell that makes me feel sick every time water is on. I get it, we live in Florida where most houses our well water. that's not the issue. I put a maintenance request in over a week ago. They finally gave me an appointment with a gentleman named Felix and told me that I had to be available between 12:30 PM through 5:00 PM and then that if I'm not there, I will get charged $100 no-show fee. Well, 5 o'clock rolls around as my whole day and took off of work to be here for to have my house fixed and at 5 o'clock at the last minute they sent me a text, saying Felix will be there in around 10 minutes. 30 minutes later I says he's still 10 minutes away. 45 minutes in at 5:45 I check in his name is no longer on the application to have it fixed and they closed it saying that he showed up and I can promise you for a fact nobody showed up to my house. Nobody went through the side gate nobody knocked on my door. I was even outside from 4 to 6 PM the whole time nobody showed up so not only did I lose money from taking a day off of work to be here for this so I did not get charged at $100 no-show fee but they never showed up. two weeks into moving into this new house and we're already having issues. I feel that I should be reimbursed for the hundred dollars because they never showed up. How should I get charged $100 no-show fee if they don't ever actually show up I feel like I've been scammed. We recently toured around 8-10 Main Street properties, in Venice. Every property was filthy and looked like their had been very minimal cleaning in months, needed painted, and in some units, photos on line did not seem to accurately depict the property. Here it is the middle of September 2024 and the renters have tried to get the house in livable condition since mid August. Continuing to wait for an electrician to repair at least 6 non working outlets in the house and dealing with a water leak that first shot from out water under a bathroom sink. After getting a work orders submitted to Main Street Renewal, and them saying the water leak would have Top Priority, 5 days later he arrived (as he said Main Street keeps telling their renters we work on weekend....but we don't! Nice man and he was able to fix the leak that was discovered just behind the hot water shut off valve. Then the renters realized there was still a leak someplace as the main meter was constantly running when no water was being used in the house. A 2nd work order was submitted and that plumber (same company) discovered a leak someplace in the pipes in the walls. Block house. He completed his work order and informed Main Street Renewal of his findings informing them a leak detection company would have to come to locate the leak before total repairs could be done. All of this is going to continue on for nearly 2 weeks, and that time frame is just to find out where the leak is located so the plumbing company can then do the repair work. Renters having to keep the water shut off at the main, after filling large buckets with water for commode use. This type of rental management service to a house that was purchased in 2023, quickly renovated and rented for the first time mid August 2024, is just NOT RIGHT! Was this house never inspected before renting? Renters should not have to deal with these two major requirements for living in a rental, proper electrical and water service to the house!!!! These repairs should have been noted and addressed before ever renting out the house! The red tape with repair work orders through Main Street Rentals is a timely process and totally ridiculous! All making it impossible to move in and get the home settled for living, while trying to also work to pay bills! RENTERS BEWARE of this company!
