I got my Hair glaze and blowout because my hair was turning into that undesirable orange/reddish color after having gone through multiple rounds of highlight/lowlights and color bleaching in general. Meiling was quick to diagnose I needed a nice ash medium brown to tone everything down and add some shine while at it. She did it so quickly and efficiently I kind of doubled on how well it would turn out but I was so stupid for questioning her godliness! Once my hair was washed and blow-dried, it was the awesome dark medium hue I've been fighting to achieve for the past 1.5 years. AND it had nice shine to it. UPDATE: she didn't even cancel my appointment after she herself told me she was uncomfortable to work on my hair. i'm pretty sure this was a scheme to collect a no-show/cancellation fee. it's fucking undignified to treat a client this way i am new to town and was super excited to get my hair done by meiling but she canceled on me twice on advanced appointments that she reviewed and accepted. looking at her reviews now, it looks like others have experienced similar issues as well and these reviews indicate Meiling has a documented history of being unable to honor her time commitments. first time for me was Friday, she had covid symptoms. she asked me if i was comfortable coming in because she had some symptoms, i said i was because i'm vaccinated, and then she proceeded to escalate and cancel. i wished her health. she told me "I can adjust my schedule so that I can accommodate you when you're able to come in" but i guess i should have known better because this was proceeded by a second cancelation. second time was also a Friday, she had a doctors appt come up. is there a pattern here? perhaps. was her nonchalant disposition and repeated cancelation with similar undertones in reason a pure coincidence? perhaps. or maybe it was just extreme bad luck on my part in selecting times to make appointments! because you know, that's on me, the client. i get that life happens, but you also have to be aware of the fact that your client is making a time commitment around work/life schedule as well, which really didn't seem to be of any interest to her. i expressed my disappointment, told her that she is rescheduling on me a second time and that it seemed to be difficult to get in her chair even with an appt. I proposed a new time as she suggested, and she gets back to me with "I'm sorry but it's pretty clear that you are upset about it, let's just cancel the apt because I'm feeling uneasy working on you". apparently the below made her feel uneasy: "hi! this is the second time you're rescheduling on me. hard to get in your chair even with an appt... can you do wednesday 5pm? it's not easy to find time so it's disappointing. lmk if the new proposed time on W works?" seriously, should i have used an emoji or something to calm her nerves? if i were upset, why the heck would i be proposing a new time to give her my money instead of canceling? it's most likely that my new proposed time of wednesday after 5 was not flying with her either and instead of taking responsibility for the scheduling mishap, she just pushed fault back onto the client in this incomprehensible way. Now I am actually upset. I'll start this by saying, I'd hate to leave a negative review of a business I have not yet used. However, sometimes others must be warned, especially when I've seen others leave the same type of reviews, that tells me there is a pattern here. On 9/21/20 I got confirmation of my appointment with Mei-Ling for 10/24, so about a month out. The day of the appointment about an hour prior to my appointment I get a text message not telling who it was (without introduction, so no clue to know who it is) that they are running 30 minutes late. I assumed it was Mei-Ling so I replied "No worries". Then, I get more messages about the reason why we couldn't make the appointment, and they were valid understandable reasons. I understand things do happen, especially it sucks when they are outside of our control. I get told she would work with me for timing to make up the appointment. She said Friday afternoon, then later in day I am told all customers need to be moved to Monday. At first I had told her I can't make next week, but since at that point I had no other option , I asked if she could do Monday? Never heard back from Mei-Ling. As of today I haven't heard back. I work, I took time off from work in order to go to the appointment. Was willing to go Friday even though I had other plans, then was willing to go Monday. I was flexible, understanding and communicative. Very disappointed, but I guess there are other talented color experts in Tampa who will got my business, being talented doesn't mean you can treat customers as if they worked for them, we are making time and paying for a service and mind you trying to support small business! read more

I've consulted different stylists over the past two years about getting a silver, pewter color on my black hair that is turning white in certain areas and they all said it was near impossible. They said Asian black hair is very hard to get to silver and very high maintenance. So I ended up doing blues and purples because those were the only options they gave me. Meiling was the only one willing to take the silver challenge and I couldn't be happier. After almost a five hour session, my hair was finally a gorgeous steel gray that blended in with my white hair so that it wasn't even noticeable. This review is to all of the customers either considering this hair salon or even current clients about to make another appointment. I made a yelp account specifically to write this review and warn other customers. Do not waste your time or money here. My mother and I have scheduled a total of five appointments with Mei-Ling's Chair and with the exception of our very first appointment, we have been canceled on every. single. time. She is either the world's unluckiest person or has an incredibly weak immune system because every time we have scheduled an appointment, 8 weeks on the dot, she has canceled last minute with a severe illness. So far in the past 6 months we have heard the excuse that she is extremely sick, had to go to the ER, had bronchitis, strep throat and now most recently had hand foot and mouth disease. Not to mention the second time she canceled on me and my mother, with the excuse that she was in the ER, my mother saw later that same day she had posted on her instagram story that she was out to dinner with her friends. Pretty fast recovery or a pretty blatant lie. You choose. For the most recent appointment that I had today and was canceled on, the text message notification I received the night before did not list anything about my hair appointment or give any mention as to who was texting me. I assumed it was a wrong number and messaged back that exact thought, that they had the wrong number, and did not receive any further notice or attempt to confirm the cancellation of the appointment. Not even an email. Due to that I drove to the appointment thinking that it was still scheduled, a 50 minute drive, only to wait around for 30 minutes and hear nothing back. I even called and was sent to voicemail before the phone automated to it. It was at that moment that I realized who the random text message was the night before. I cannot believe the level of disrespect and disregard for me and my mother as customers, and as I've read through other reviews, customers in general. A 6 year old and a 7 year old running a lemonade stand in the summer have more business integrity and respect for their customers. I encourage anyone else who has dealt with this issue here to also leave a review and keep this woman from screwing over anyone else. If you don't want to run a business, close it. Simple. read more
