I've shopped at Meijer many times, but after what I've experienced during the night shift (around 8 PM), I will NEVER come back. The night manager who has a limp and assistant manager who is short and has curly hair with cauliflower ear are beyond creepy. Instead of running the store, they stalk and stare at customers--especially women--making the whole shopping experience extremely uncomfortable. The moment you walk in, they start following you around the store, watching your every move like some kind of predator. I don't know if they think they're being subtle, but it's painfully obvious. It's unsettling and makes you want to leave as fast as possible. No customer should feel watched, judged, or stalked while trying to shop. On top of that, they treat their employees like absolute garbage right in front of customers. I've seen them yell at workers, degrade them, and act like they're above everyone. If this is how they behave when people are watching, I can only imagine how bad it is behind the scenes. Between the creepy, unprofessional behavior and the toxic management, I cannot recommend this store to anyone--especially at night. If you don't want to feel watched, stalked, or uncomfortable, do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. read more

We had such a horrible experience today. A cashier made a mistake- then told the manager- who in turn made the doorman start checking receipts. It was due to an Apple pay transaction. We were a family of 15 visiting from Texas. Instead of the manager tending to the issue- We were All racially profiled and made to show receipts. Another family who arrived 30 minutes before us to shop also was asked to show receipts- AFTER the incident was taken care of. The doorman made it seem like we were trying to walk out without paying. I was told not to play the race card. Well...looking around we were the only Hispanics having to show receipts- and not the Caucasians. Mind you, the day before we spent $600+ - paid in separate lanes and NOT ONE OF US were asked for receipts. We are use to curbside service, 3rd party app service, scan n go- and here we are being racially profiled as a group when only 1 person had the incorrect transaction. Manager NEVER came to speak with the person in question. She thought she would throw the greeter under the bus instead of stepping up and doing her job. I don't care how much the door greeter told us he wasn't racist.....yet people of forget about being prejudice or stereotyping others. I feel for anyone who has been embarrassed or judged at this Meijer. The best thing was seeing that Sandy is still 1cent after 30 years of living in Michigan!! If you're brown...be aware of this town. Sad!!! Small town mentality. Get out a little more. read more

Buying a loaf of bread in Glen Arbor, MI is about as costly as purchasing a full meal at a restaurant (I kid, sort of), so it's a good idea to pick up your staples for the season outside of town and bring them with you. As the closest major grocery store is in Traverse City and I don't want to leave the beach that long, this Meijer's is a godsend. I can hit it on the drive up, no fuss, no mess. Super conveniently located just off of 31 - if you are on your way to Leelanau County, you have to go by here anyway. It's 24 hours, so if you are doing a late night drive, no problemo. They also sell ice and freezer bags so you can keep your perishables in good shape for the last hour or two (depending on how many deer insist on throwing themselves into your path and how much fog is creeping over the road) of your drive. It's Meijer - they have a good selection of everything and lots of local brands to boot, hooray! This Meijer has an exceptional cheese selection too, something I appreciate as I like to keep a good stock of cheese on hand at the cottage for entertaining. Wide booze selection, too, but Michigan doesn't allow liquor sales after 2am, so if you get in too late you are out of luck. I typically stock our cottage with basics (pasta, cleaning supplies, sauce, soup, cheese, milk, spices, oils, crackers, paper goods, batteries, etc.) for the season for about $200 annually. If I bought the same items at our local store in Glen Arbor, I'd be paying about twice that. Cheap gas station here too and, if you are driving from Chicago, perfectly situatued as you should be at about 1/4 of a tank by the time you get here. Gas up here before you continue the trek North as it only gets more expensive as you go and gas stations are fairly scarce once you get off of 31. Trust me on this, you don't want to run out of gas at 4am in Leelanau County, so gas her up cheap here and hit the road. read more

Wow! It's like the place down the street.... we'll call it Mall-Wart I'm going through the store thinking the line from "The Blues Brothers".. "Hey, this mall has everything" Now I've never been IN a Meijer before since they don't have them on the west coast but when I worked in the garment district in L.A. I shipped plenty of stuff to them so this was a chance to see something new. There's a Mall-Wart down the street and I chose Meijer because it's new and different for me. I was not disappointed in the least. The prices are great and the selection was even better. Some the same as I'm used to and some different.The employees were friendly and seemed to know their store. There is a meat counter/butcher which Uncle Wally doesn't have. The fresh produce is way fresher than any i've found at home at Uncle Wally's too. My cousin and I were shopping to feed an army for a family reunion and HEAPED a cart full of food and drink... Plus I needed soap and some new toothpaste. We found great deals on things we didn't even know we wanted and managed to find everything we needed and it didn't break the bank. I was surprised at the prices... or was it out superior shopping skills??? Maybe a little of both!!! Not to mention we had fun... but then again, we can have fun anywhere! Meijer is the greatest store of all time. Imagine Target but about a million times better. They have everything your heart desires and then on top of it, everything you had no idea you needed until you saw it calling your name on those shelves. Come here for camping supplies, gluten-free foods, beer, electronics, clothing, office supplies, rugs, tiki torches, fireworks, produce, and beyond! I only wish that they had a better prepared foods/deli section. Otherwise, it's the best. Also, Meijer makes for some surprisingly good people-watching. Small world, I actually shopped here once! My mom's friend owns a place in Whitehall-Montague, right on the water. We wound up here for some random reason, and I bought a brand-new copy of... wait for it... Pearl Jam's Vs. album. C'mon, I was like 13 years old. Seriously, I still think it's their best work. My wife asked to be dropped off at Meijer Ludington while I went to Manistee to pick up load in semi truck. She called me a short time later and said she would be standing in parking lot because of experience in store. A floor walker followed her around store. We are truck drivers delivering essential items to stores including Meijer distribution in Lansing. Shame on you Ludington for treating my wife like a criminal. After buying 2 bags of groceries for the truck she chose to stand in parking lot rather than have floor walker follower her in store. We will never return to your store. read more

My family and I are getting really sick of this one woman at self check out. She ALWAYS treats us like we're stealing stuff, even before shop n scan. Hovering over me and looking through my bags. One of these past times I had no choice but to go to her as the other ladies (very nice ladies, Judy & Karen) were not working that day, to scan the 5 minimum required items she apparently had to pull items from the bottom of my bags that CLEARLY I had all my stuff nicely organized and just threw them back. She was out shopping at Meijer yesterday, saw me walking with my 4 y old and thought it funny to block my way sneering at me and walking really slow. SHAME ON YOU! I've been shopping at Meijer for 53 years and I'd consider myself a "Meijer" gal, but the Meijer in Ludington has the RUDEST sales clerks!! To be fair, there a couple gals I seek out, but it's rare! I totally avoid one lady because I feel I'm an imposition. The other day, I handed my clothing items over so they would touch the wet belt and the clerk threw them to the side with a huff. I asked her if she's having a bad day and she growled at me NO. It's becoming a regular thing. All I can say is that the fish stinks from the head down. Who's managing these folks? I find myself shopping more and more at Aldi and Walmart where the clerks are much more friendly! Ending on a nice note, still think you have the best produce! read more

I'm impressed! I expected more of a Walmart like quality and it's much more of a Target feel. The product variety is pretty incredible. Almost better than my Target back home in California. Another plus is it's open 24 hours. Coming from Hart, MI (about 30 miles away?), this is extremely helpful considering grocery stores close at 8:00 p.m. (Soooo foreign to a California girl). It's always nice knowing you have an option when you realize you need corn flakes for cheesy potato casserole at 11:00 p.m. the night before Thanksgiving! read more

Let's be honest- if Meijer and every other large grocery store were in a boxing match you know who would win. The prices are great, the elderly greeters make you feel like you're going to visit grandma & grandpa, and the staff is actually friendly and helpful. This location isn't as mind-blowing as say, Traverse City, but it's right on par with the size of Ludington. Three cheers for Meijer! read more

Director of Meijer Store in Ludington-- Dear Sir, on Friday Oct. 20, 2017 I specically came to your store from Manistee to purchase six Michigan State and Michigan tail gate chairs because they were on sale for $24.99. I also purchased other items. I had my coupons in hand that were the Friday and Saturday mperks which I also had clipped. Besides charging me for one to many chairs, which she noticed and said she would take it off the receipt, but never did, which I didn't notice until I got home----this EXTREMELY RUDE CASHIER NAMED SHERRY T. actually shoved my coupons back to me and just said, I took $5.00 off the chairs already. When saying that I have this $20.00 coupon which I want to use on my purchase of $176.00 she got very annoyed and repeated again very SNIPPY--I told you that I gave you $5.00 off of every chair. She had no intention of explaining the whole process of how the coupons worked with the items until I questioned her. Such a disgrace to your store and all the money that I have spent there in the past also. Because of this cashier SHERRY T. who was the most unpleasant, unfriendly employee, I will never step foot in your store again. I used to live in the area and have had a few good experiences with helpful employees and a few not so good. I live in the U.P. now and tried for two days to send my step mom flowers for mothers day to no avail. A family friend offered to help by picking them up and delivering. So this is the first place I thought of. I sat on hold for ten minutes waiting for customer service before hanging up. I wanted to see if I could speak to a manager and perhaps stay on the phone while they ran my credit card. I do understand some places can't do this so I was prepared for a NO. I called back and asked for the floral department and the woman that answered was talking so fast I couldn't understand her name. I started to explain what my situation was but as soon as I said I wanted to see if I could pay over the phone she cut me off and said absolutely not! No cards over the phone. So I started to speak again to tell her that I was calling from six hours away but barely got two words in before being cut off and told again no cards over the phone. Was going to ask if I could sing have them put an arrangement aside for the family friend to pick up but she was crude, loud, and kept cutting me off so finally I hung up. Will never ever go here again. I was able to call a local store after this who gladly took my card number. Just be kind. I'm sure you don't want to get treated like crap so why would you do it to others? So to whoever the rude lady is the works in the floral department? Get over yourself and learn some manners.
