Grafton Meijer does it once again. Apparently, after a certain time of day, you can no longer receive service from / ask questions of employees. To the girl with the long, straight hair stocking produce in the evening: when someone approaches and says "Sorry to bother you, but could you help me find...", the proper response is NOT to treat that person as if they are in fact bothering you and dismissively say "I don't know, that's probably in some other department " and go back to what you were doing. Really shameful, but I guess that's how it is now. Customer service no longer exists. read more

At first, I didn't like this store because I thought it was large and empty. I realize, now, I was used to the overstock of Walmart stores. Meijer is a great store if you're more selective about what you purchase. I find good prices on items and brands I trust at Meijer. There's always friendly help if I need it in any department. The Grafton, WI store is clean and they've taken great measures to insure the safety of their staff and customers during the pandemic -- including stocking appropriate healthcare items for purchase. I never felt like I had to hoard when I shopped at this store (although plenty of people did). There was stock available whenever I went to buy something I needed. The thing I appreciate the most about this store is they've NEVER harassed me about my service dog! I once did a service project in Detroit with a member of the Meijer family, he would be proud to know that this store is serving it's community and it's Veterans with such sensitivity and dedication. I shop at the Grafton store a lot now. I trust the brands and I know that when I go to Meijer, I'll be treated with respect and come home with a product I can use! read more

We have shopped here for quite a while. The quality of help at checkout is horrible at best. I know that it is hard to get enough help but, they need to look a little closer at the people they are hiring. Monday we were checking out and when we were all done the cash register went down. The girl walked away, didn't say anything to us went to another register with another girl and asked the people in line behind us to come over to the other register. We said, what about us? She said we should bring our groceries over and get in line. Asked customer service for a manager but they couldn't be bothered. We left. read more

I remember the run up to the opening of this store was fairly controversial in the area; some local condo owners were up in arms that a retail store would open along a major thoroughfare, near a large freeway exit. What a shocking idea! For the most part I enjoy Meijer. There is a decent selection of items, not quite as much in terms of non-food as Target, but a generous grocery section and I like that they are open late and their self-checkouts take coupons without a whole lot of fuss (you paying attention Pick N Save?). But I can't go five stars as the employee interactions have always been lacking here. The staff is concerned with doing their jobs, and that apparently does not include greeting or talking to customers. You could lie bleeding in an aisle and they would just stock peanut butter around your lifeless body as the gangrene sets in. Not sure if this is due to low pay or a lack of management/example from above, but I would come out here more if I knew that my presence was appreciated. read more

I always seem to have problems with my orders. The first time they called me afterwards saying they had left part of the order on the shelf. The second time as I was parked waiting for them to load my groceries, they said they had accidentally given my entire order to someone else. I insisted on a refund. They gave me a partial. I finally got it fixed. Also, unlike other Meijer locations, this one doesn't seem to stock the Flashfood cooler. Kind of ruins the concept read more

For a large grocery store, I find that they often are out of items on my list. These are usually not uncommon items. Some examples are, basil, different beef options, different veggies, etc. They have one of the slowest deli counters in the area so I usually only buy things out of their pre-packed options even if I would rather have another type of meat. I have waited for probably close to 20 minutes at the deli (only ordering two types of meat). Overall their in store shopping experience is decent and I will continue to go there, but it continues to decline on my list of "grocery store favorites" I have used their Curbside Pick-up option and every time they either aren't substituting options, or don't have the items. Any produce they give you is obnoxious - they choose the largest onions, carrots, etc. that they can find. This might be fine for some people, but I found I just wasted more food having way too much of the item than needed due to its size. The last time I went I waited 25 minutes for them to bring out my order so I decided that was the last time. I went to Pick 'n' Save the next time and they text you any substitutions to review/approve hours before you pick up. They had my order to my car within 5 minutes of arrival. This Meijer is so much better than the ones in IL or the one in Wauwatosa. One of concerns is the number of employees on cell phones. Last night, I was there at 7:30. Was not greeted as usual when entering, and when I left one of the employees in a yellow vest was sitting next to the doors on his cell phone. Meijer is interesting. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is like a combination between Target and Walmart, plus a sprinkling of Kohl's. The good: Fair prices. Their clearance items are ridiculously inexpensive. On my last visit they had a decent selection of Halloween and Back-to-School items, as well as some random electronics, jewelry, and cosmetics. The self-checkout is speedy and not as argumentative as I have encountered at other stores. The store itself is very clean and definitely still feels new. I have had nothing but positive encounters with the employees. Needs improving: The pharmacy and deli counters seem understaffed. I feel it is ridiculous I have to wait nearly an hour to pick up prescriptions or get a scoop of chicken salad. The bad: The chicken salad. Whatever you do, don't purchase it. It is THE WORST I have ever had. Ever. It is way too mustard and dressing-y with an overload of onions. Yuck! Yes, I will return as I am currently using the pharmacy. I suggest visiting after a holiday for the clearance items. I don't recommend the chicken salad. If you are craving chicken salad as I had been, splurge and visit the Panera. read more

EVERY TIME WITH NO FAIL products are not rung up at advertised price. Coupons are not credited. You repeatedly have to call attention to the mistakes and they have to correct them. The last time i was there the clerk knocked my gallon of milk over and it exploded everywhere..I asked him to get someone to replace it. I waited. 5 minutes. Asked again. Called to speak with store manager. Said he would be right there. 8 minutes. Nothing. Got the milk although. I left. Besides getting food poisoning from this store and their attention meat above the freeze lines in their frozen meat containers of which i reported and was ignored. I will buy canned goods and produce here but the rest you can keep. Too bad they ignored my concerns of peoples health being compromised by their breaking of food handling codes. Price and quality are fine here, but MAN, the store has twelve checkout lanes but only three of them are ever staffed at one time! As a result the lines are always really long, so you're almost forced to go to the self-serve lanes. The other day i was waiting in the line while the shopper in front of me had a credit card issue or something that was holding things up. Usually I'd go to another lane but the other two were also backed up. When it was finally my turn the cashier apologized for the holdup. She said a lot of the customers hate the self-serve lanes, but management claims they're hard up for workers. I find that a little hard to believe as I don't think the labor market is THAT tight, and the other stores in the area don't seem to have any trouble staffing their checkout lanes. Location and an acceptable level of clean are all this store has going for it. The produce is consistently poor and the meat department is very hit or miss. I would recommend coming here for non-perishables and drinks, avoid anything fresh. The store is short staffed in the evenings (7-8pm) when we shop so there is essentially no service to be judged. read more

I tried to purchase some Patron Tequila that was not actually stocked on the shelf. There was a card holder with a picture of the item and a bar code and a sign that said to take the card to the register and the cashier would get the product. I've never seen this at Meijer before and it definitely wasn't the most expensive Tequila but I grabbed a card and took it to the cashier. She was very nice and friendly and they actually had an employee bagging who took the card to the service desk to try to retrieve the item. The item wasn't available at the service desk so the bagger told me that someone would retrieve the item from some storage cages in the back. It was taking a really long time for the employee to bring the item and there was a line of about 10 people behind me (probably because she was the only cashier open) so the cashier checked me out using the card with the bar code and told me to wait at the service desk for the employee to bring the Tequila. After about another 10 minutes, 2 employees come to the service desk and said they didn't have the item. I said that I needed a refund. One of the employees was very irritated and she said it would take a minute because the registers at the service desk were all closed out (evidently this is my fault). She couldn't get the credit to go through because there was some issue with the printing on the receipt so she sent an employee to get some other copy of the receipt (this, too, is my fault). Not gonna lie, it's been 30 minutes since checkout and I'm a little frustrated and so is she and I told her that. At this point, she LITERALLY asks me why I paid for the item before I had it (evidently I should have told the cashier how to do her job) and said that in spite of the service desk closing at 8 she's doing me a big favor by refunding my money for something I paid for and never received (my fault again). I finally had my maiden voyage in Meijer today. I feel like in brand identity, if Wal-Mart and Target had a baby it would be named Meijer. Meijer has the cleanliness and neighborhood placement of Target with the selection and price of a Walmart. The grocery was reminiscent of a Walmart with the caveat that the produce was better presented and cared for. Some things I noticed: --The place was freaking huge and I got lost and a bit glazed over shopping there. I'm a market girl, not a superstore type. --The prices were pretty good. I was watching as the guy rang up my groceries thinking "no way it's this cheap." I didn't buy meat this go round, but I eat pretty healthy. I usually spend $80-100 a week and I think my bill today was $60-80. --Things I noticed were cheap...Essential Oils- $4.99 for a bottle 3 times the size of the home consultant stuff that goes for twice as much. Bonus - they were an additional 25% off! For a mere $3.74 each I splurged on 5! --My regular hair products were also 25% less than what I pay in my neighborhood so I stocked up. --I bought some other sundries. I didn't think the home decor was anything special and didn't even bother to look at the clothes. --All in I spent $140, which was about $60 less than I would have spent elsewhere. "Wow I got a lot of sh%&!" I said to the guy who was checking me out. He agreed, noting I was tame compared to other customers he saw today. I'm updating my review because it appears as though their over-charging issues have stopped - at least for me. I have not noticed any further discrepancies between the advertised price of an item and what the register rang that item up for. One thing you need to be careful of. I routinely find expired and close to expired items in the dairy section. In November, I found a carton of orange juice that had a "use by" date of August 8th. It pays to look through a few of the same items to ensure you get the freshest. read more

Many a Wisconsinite has asked me, "What is this Meijer you speak of? And why are you so gosh-darned excited about it?" Well, let me tell you. Besides the nostalgia of growing up with Meijers all over the place, they have just about everything. Seriously. Full grocery, housewares, garden center, pharmacy, media and entertainment, pet care - ALL OF IT. "But isn't it just like Walmart?" they ask. NO. Well, maybe. It's more like if Walmart and Target had a family-owned love child. Everything seems fresher here - better produce, great meat. Prices seem like they'll be competitive with Pick 'n' Save, which is fabulous for SE Wisconsin. Currently lots of great sales on fruits and veggies, making it totally worth the drive. Also, join the mPerks program - you can load coupons onto your account and earn rewards. The Grafton store is fabulous. Some fellow Mitten pals and I went for the grand opening, and I've since returned once for groceries. The store is clean, bright, and well-organized. The staff is fantastic, welcoming customers into the store. It seems like they still have some staff in from stores around the region, but I'm sure the local crew will be great. Good stuff, people. Over all it's a good start of variety over the Saukville Walmart. The prices are moderately low and they push variety in the food section. This is a week old new location and there's been a lot of local buzz. They have Grocery, Home Decor, Electronics, Auto & Sporting Goods, Pharmacy and there's much more. Other amenities are both the Starbucks & USBank presence. Because it's a new store the staff is all over the place and almost need to relax a bit. I felt like I was being watched as my wife & I observed the whole place. I have many years experience in retail management and that was my only red flag. Again they are getting their rhythm I am sure. So yes check it out. read more

So tired of going to this place for basic items. Tomato sauce none. Celery none. Old radishes. Head of lettace none. Always empty shelves. Went for celery none but overpriced celery hearts 3.69. 1.29 at Aldi. So tired of having to stop at another store for basic items. Don't like thier beef, poor quality. Pork ribs vacuum packed,, open and smell because many times they are rotten and you have to drive back to the store with smelly ribs and get your money back.This place has never been able to get its act together as far as stocking. So tired of checking every dairy and meat item for expired dates. Manager of this place needs to get out of his office and do something, like help stock shelves. My son does at his grocery store. This place is just not managed by a manager that gives a sh×÷, Managers they get paid a lot of money, they just don't care and it shows. I dont know why the website inventory doesnt match what they can actually deliver. They either dont stock the shelves at this location or cant manage their inventory electronically. I've been overcharged by about $20 on at least one order. Today only half my order got filled without the opportunity to substitute. Customer service never actually answers the phone either. I've been on hold about 45 minutes. On the order I was overcharged on, I sat on hold for and hour and half with no answer. Meijer just sucks. read more

Loved this store when they first opened. Everything was "good", not great but really good for cheap prices. However, what stood out was their huge cheese selection and liquor department. Both have been desiminated to no better than pick and save. Even Piggly Wiggly is better. My may visit, and I really mean last, was yesterday when I went to stock up for a party we were hosting. I had 12 bottles of liquor, and 4 bottles of wine so asked for a box. Lady looked at me strangely, then called to the back and then told me "sorry, we don't have any boxes". Haha. A grocery store with no boxes. So I asked if they at least had paper bags to separate the bottles. She said, sorry, we don't. Decent grocery store, Produce is good. They have a lot to offer, but the check out take forever. Seriously you may be waiting 20 min to check out on a Sunday. I am assuming they pay their cashiers min. wage, which means there is a lot of turn over, which means the cashiers are new to the job and slow down the process. That is just my hypothesis. read more

The men's bathroom urinals were backed up and the woman's room stalls had no toilet paper in them. This review has everything to do with the service. In general, I'm happy with the selection and the prices at Meijer. However, my service yesterday set a new record for checkout time at a grocery store, and the management response was less than desired. I had a cart full of groceries. The store was slammed, likely because it was the day before a snowstorm plus it's the ever-loving holiday season. I wish I could have avoided all stores all month, but we gotta eat. I approached the checkout and choose a line that looked reasonable. Little did I know it looked reasonable because everyone kept leaving the line due to the excruciating wait time. When I say I waited well over twenty minutes to check out with just two families in front of me, it's not an exaggeration. The cashier was taking every piece of produce out of the bag and examining it for a code. If she couldn't find it, she had to scroll through what seemed like the entire POS system to find the code for a freaking bunch of parsley. When it was finally my turn, the cashier scanned my first item (a variety pack of beer) 3 times, then put it in the bagging area. When I told her she charged me three times for the beer, she had to get a manager to void the last two charges. After he was done voiding the charges, he walked away with my beer. I had to call after him to bring it back. The cashier, to her credit, did ask him if there was anything we could do to make my experience better and he said he would. However, he never returned to the register and when I saw him on my way out, he was talking and laughing with other employees and customers. I decided to stop by customer service, who tried to call him but there was no answer. I would avoid this store at peak times. Weekends, holiday time, the day before a storm. The staff and management just aren't equipped to handle it. read more

I have shopped at Grafton Meijer about a dozen times since it opened and for whatever reason, they can't seem to have their act together enough to have sale items ring up properly at the register. It's annoying to get home and discover the item I went to buy on sale rang through at full price. This has happened multiple times. If the way they bring shoppers back into the store is to resolve their errors, I'll just shop elsewhere. read more

Great produce selection. Fresh turmeric collard greens daikon radish and all sorts of produce pig doesn't sell. And prices are better here than the pig. Sometimes prices ring up wrong sometimes you win sometimes you lose. They will refund the difference at the service desk. Which is a hassle. They are much better now than when they opened something rang up wrong every time. I still always check my receipt though. I got pissed when it happened three visits in a row and I took pictures of the price tags and the receipts and did the store survey. The literally mailed me the cash difference In the mail. I hope they don't overcharge people on purpose collect the cash and cook the books. I don't care what they do I like the selection. Parking lot is ok. Today was my last visit. Strawberries were practically rotten. Green beans looked like they were a month old. As usual, lots of gaping black holes where items I needed were out of stock - meaning I have to go somewhere else anyway, which is what I'll be doing from now on. The self-checkout malfunctions about half the time, making it slower than regular checkout anywhere else. Too bad everything has declined so far since the store opened. Buh-bye. read more

With so much to offer, this is your true one stop shop, but what keeps us coming back is the friendly and very helpful staff that will go out of the way to ask you if you are finding what you need and help as needed. I went here today, I was impressed with the selection of stuff they had, their employees seemed dedicated as well, I ran into some customers that would be better suited at Walmart with their cart on one side of the isle and talking to someone from like 2006 on the other side of the isle completely oblivious that other customers would like to go past. I loved this store when it first opened but I often find they are overcharging. I went to service desk and while getting a refund I explained this happened often and the woman said nothing when I told her. I then said is there someone else I can talk to about the issue because it happens often and she doesn't seem to care. Also a different lady earlier seemed bothered I would ask if they would honor a price that they left the sticker up for. Sale ended on 4-27 yet today 5-15 sticker still up. They did honor it though. Both these ladies work in customer service but neither seemed like they really wanted to do anything but chat with one another as both had same attitude when a customer bothered them. I have decided to boycott Walmart after my few shopping stops at meijers in grafton. The produce department is huge and they have self weigh stations where you can weigh your produce and plop the bar code sticker on it for faster check out. This also takes the guess work out of budgeting while shopping. The lay out of the store has been easy to learn and they have a lot of great sales. If you keep your eyes peeled you will also find markdowns in the grocery area. Another highlight of the grocery section at this store is the vast selection of hard to find items both in ethnic foods and gluten free. And the milk is the cheapest I've been able to find as well. The clothing is a step up from Walmart but not as good as kohls. I still bought some shirts for my son there, nice to have more clothing choices in our area. The garden center is a great competition to Home Depots. They do have self check outs and a representative that helps you find the fastest check out aisle. I had Douglas on my last shopping trip and he helped me quickly set up the meijers app on my phone so I could save an additional 10% on a sale item. This store is a great addition to all the local big box store competitors in the area! read more
