The gentlemen in the firm who answered the phone was amazing, but his hands were tied by the people running the show. I hired this firm after a domestic dispute in 2021 and I hired them because I was told that they were top rated for both the LGBTQ community and in DV. They post this on their website, and they also campaign for local organizations like the Pride Center and YWCA, so I'm going to assume here that they do this, because.... Well how could they treat someone a certain way, when they give back so much?!?!? I imagine, that they are compassionate, as long as you have an exuberant amount of money to pay them, and can keep the flow of money coming, because its all they care about. I was hesitant to retain and I should have followed my gut. While Kayla did her "job" she sent some emails and filled out a separation document (like the ones you normally see in a divorce), it was the lack of compassion and care. She made me feel like crap on more than one occasion. I don't feel like she listened to my concerns, in fact she argued with me and would tell me how I was wrong (kind of like my marriage). When I would explain how her words and actions were making me FEEL, I was told to get a therapist. When my husband doesn't exercise visitation or pay towards his children, I'm still then told by them that I need to pay them over $5,000.00 and should just take out a personal loan. When an individual is going through a divorce, its hard enough. When theres kids, its another layer, when there is abuse, its ANOTHER added layer and divorce attorneys know this, in fact, they are the experts in it. I really feel as though this firm charges an insane amount of money to do as little work as possible and by that I mean, they will do the basics, and then tell you to be grateful. Find another firm. Also I'm going to note here that I fully anticipate this review either being deleted by them or them replying saying how I'm just a dissatisfied client who is upset I didn't get my way. In Jan 2018 I received an email from Laura Darling Law PLLC stating that I will receive a fine in the mail, with no explanation of what the fine is for. Since January I have attempted to contact this law office via phone and email many times. I have left several voicemails and sent several emails, all are unanswered. To date, there has been no contact from the lawyer and we are entering the 4th month since the lawyer received full payment for services.

This morning, my wife and I had a meeting scheduled with Danielle Becker, on of the firm's attorneys. Our purpose was to review our trusts and all of our documents to ensure that they still met our needs and to determine if any changes were necessitated by moving our domicile form NY to NJ and/or by our wintering in FL. We arrived 10 minutes early and were welcomed in to Ms. Becker's office promptly at the appointed time. Ms. Becker was interested, caring and most professional. After all of our questions were answered, Ms. Becker reviewed our situation and the relevant documentation. She then determined that everything was in order and that no changes were necessary. She did advise that "IF" we wanted to update things (address changes, names of grandkids, etc.) we were free to do so and she advised us of the costs involved in making these changes. However, and she stressed this, none of these changes were absolutely needed as the wording of our current documents covered all of these changes. So, once again, we had a meeting with The Ettinger Law Firm and were not pressured, in any way, to create an income stream for the firm. Yes, this meeting was entirely without cost or obligation. Kudos to the firm and to Ms. Becker.
