I'm in a wheelchair and the handicap access is wonderful. Spacious bathroom with wide doorway, roll in shower and built in shower seat. The apartment size refrigerator took care of the bottled water we travel with and my leftovers from last night's dinner with plenty of room for more. Beds were comfy... husband says extremely so. Wifi easy to tap into. No breakfast service but not an issue for us.

Shelton Plaza in Beaumont works best in a smaller, quieter way, giving you a quick sense of place…read morebefore you head into the Fire Museum of Texas across the street. The giant working fire hydrant anchors the space with a bit of whimsy, and the clean walkways and open layout make it easy to pause for a moment without feeling like you're making a big production out of it. The gazebo adds a touch of charm, and the 9/11 tribute brings a gentle shift in tone, offering a brief moment of reflection that balances the playfulness of the hydrant. It's simple and respectful, and it gives the plaza a sense of purpose beyond being a photo stop. As an entry point to the museum, it's a pleasant and worthwhile pause, the kind of place you appreciate for a few minutes before moving on to the larger story waiting just across the street. The big sign out front touts this historical hotel as one of the most haunted places in Texas...and believe me...it is! I wandered in on a whim, and the hotel owner came out of the office to ask who I was after seeing me touring the pink painted halls on the security camera. I explained that I was from California and had seen the big sign out front and thought I would take a peek. I have never met a more friendly and welcoming person in all my life! Mrs. McCain gave me the grand tour, and showed me many things I would have missed on just an unguided walk through. Needless to say, it was an experience that I will always treasure and never forget!
