I had the pleasure of stopping into Megan's Custom Framing after winning a print of the Capitol in a charity raffle. Megan's donated the framing and were extremely easy to work with. I was crazy busy after the charity event and they were great about contacting me to set up a pick-up time that was convenient when I dropped the ball about contacting them. When I went to pick up my framed print Megan was very warm and welcoming and even offered to open up my prize so I could make sure I was happy with it. It was beautifully framed and she even let me know that she hustled to get the print replaced when it arrived damaged so that it would still be ready for me at pick-up. Totally not necessary to bend over backwards when she was already donating the framing service but I think that speaks to the quality of what she does and how she runs her business. Next time I need something framed I'll be back! read more

Do Not Use This Business For Any Framing Work!!! I took a piece in one year ago and waited 5 months to get it back. I was told they had a water break and were doing repairs on that and this was causing the delay. I thought I would give them another chance and 3 months ago took a picture in for framing and I cannot get ahold of them to find out where my picture is. No one answers the phone and no one returns a text message even though the phone message instructs the caller to text instead of leaving a message. When I finally got through to Meagan after calling the shop numerous times, she was rude and dismissive and told me they were just too busy and she will get back to me. She has not gotten back to me. All I want is my picture back now, even if it is not finished. I will never take any work there again, and I would never recommend this business to anyone else. read more

My husband and I purchased a beautiful photo in Door county. We took it to Megan's for framing. It was not cheap,we ordered sun protection for the photo and everything. After hanging the photo above our fireplace it came crashing down within weeks! The photo was ruined! They said they would contact the artist and replace it. It's been months!!!! I have been super patient!! There's almost no contact with me!! I have to go to the store to get any response!!! Never call me back. Have sent several texts!! TL;DR They seem like nice people, but they did a bad job and did not communicate well. It was only supposed to take 4 weeks. I understood that there were many strains this year due to shipping and supply chains getting completely thrown off. That's why it was no big deal when it took longer than their initial time frame. A problem for me as their customer who had already paid for the installation was that they did not contact me to let me know anything from April 10th 'til June 18th. I had to contact them. They did answer my questions right away via text. 6 days later they asked about finishing touches. Great. But it took another 2-3 weeks until July 13th when I was able to pick up the finished piece. It looked rushed and sloppy. I was disappointed but I asked for them to make changes because slight things would have made it so much better. A second attempt might give me exactly what I wanted. Any sort of contact from this point forward was initiated by me. I called multiple times (usually 8 days or more apart) just to know if any updates had occurred during that time. I sent texts, one at a time, that were not returned over a week at a time. Most of my responses to their texts back were "I look forward to the final product." They complained about doing the job I had paid them for, asked for "4 more days" while instead taking 13, and they did not call to let me know the product was finished. During most of this experience I felt unimportant and even as a burden being their customer. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had as a customer with any business. It took over 5 months for them to get me my order. Let me try that again, it took 3 months to do a poor job with okay communication and then an additional 2+ months to do a mildly better job with very poor communication. And I cannot believe that parts have already become undone within 2 days of picking it up. I should have just asked for my money and stuff back in June and gone with another frame store in town. They weren't even the best price to begin with. read more

Don't be deceived by the sign that says 60% off sale. Prices are still very expensive and I waited 1 yr and 4 months for my framing to be complete. Well after I year, I spontaneously stopped by to ask about my framing. Was told it was done and could pick up later in the week. Wondered, if it's done, why hasn't anyone called me to come and pick it up?? Went back to get it, and it still wasn't finished. Ridiculous!!! another 2 weeks and I finally have it now, but after spending $400 up front, NOONE should have to wait over a year for their finished artwork. \ I never give bad reviews, but I absolutely needed to take action hereand spread the word. I never write reviews but feel obligated to let others know what a terrible experience my husband and I had at Megan's Custom Framing so no one has to go through what we did. Megan had our jerseys for about a year and we are still unhappy with the work she did. Our jerseys are not level or even and Megan was terrible with communicating with us. We are so disappointed with how they turned out and the only reason we paid her was to get them to only have them redone by another place. read more

I cannot emphasize what an awful experience I've had with Megan's Custom Framing. I dropped family heirlooms off in March for framing. There were understandable delays with COVID and a move they had to make, but it has now been 8 months. I have reached out at least 15 times to inquire about the status of my pieces. To get a response, I have to contact Megan on multiple platforms. There has never been any attempt at proactive communication on her part, which would have alleviated this whole issue. I hope this business can greatly improve their communication as customers that have paid a high fee for custom work should be updated about the status of pieces that are important to them. read more

Only then did she tell us the frame was back ordered and there was no apology, really felt like we were the bad guys. Took out print, with no money back, and left. I had a few canvas prints framed by Megan and she an exceptional job. Yes, the owner was the one, along with 1 employee, than did the framing. When I walked in to get a quote, Megan and her employee greeted me right away and were very nice and knowledgeable. I got a quote on spot and had my art framed within a few days (timing depends on the workload, of course) I love supporting small, local businesses, because they tend to put a little more effort into doing a meticulous job, and Megan's Custom Framing is no exception. The prices were right around what it would have have cost me to have a chain do the same work, even though I'm willing to pay a little more to have it done by a small company. Skip this custom frame shop, go to a chain hobby store that offers framing instead. I had 2 similar pieces framed at 2 different places. My experience at Megan's custom framing was dreadful. The prices are twice as much as others (but I had to spend the groupon I'd bought). The staff is sometimes unprofessional in language and dress. It took twice as long to get my product due to packaging mistakes that allowed my frame to be scratched. When I asked for it to be fixed, the staff made it sound like it was MY FAULT, that I had waited a week to pick it up, when they know, I live far away from the store. Now this may be a far and in between experience, but you will save money and receive quality work elsewhere. read more

I stumbled upon Megan's Custom Framing from a Groupon offer. I wanted to use a small, women's owned business so I purchased the Groupon. Megan was extremely personable and helpful in getting me what I needed. I don't often have framing done and usually go to Michael's. In August of 2014, I had Megan frame a $1500 limited edition screen print by Chuck Sperry, an internationally known rock poster artist. I insisted repeatedly that I wanted the framing performed with museum quality archival materials and absolutely NO TAPE. I even asked that if I decided to sell the print later, would the print be in the same condition that it was when I brought it in to be framed. She assured me it would be in the same condition. It took two months for her to complete the project and when I went to pick up the framed piece, there was a huge piece of lint clearly visible between the glass and matting. No big deal. The next time I picked up the piece, I noticed that the corners were not cut square and were quite curvy. The third time I picked up the piece the corners were better, but I was not impressed. I decided to keep the print, put it on the wall and enjoy. Months later, I decided to sell the piece, packed and shipped by UPS and insured for the full amount. In shipment the print shifted between the mats. When the buyer opened the frame with framing staff at Michael's, they noticed that the print was taped to the mat in two spots along the top edge of the print. There were no other anchor points on the sides or bottom of the print, no archival clips, no tape. Again, I had told Megan that I wanted it framed archivally with NO TAPE. This cost me to lose a sale and ruined the value of the print. In addition to the shoddy mat cutting and securing of the print, the frame itself appeared to be coming apart. Megan refused to refund the framing cost, refused to reprint a receipt, refused to do anything but file a claim on her insurance only if I left the print in her possession. Furthermore, she assured me that the print would be destroyed if an insurance claim was made. She lied saying that neither her or her staff taped the print and claimed her work was sound. It's heartbreaking to know that she would take joy in destroying such a beautiful piece of art and not be willing to make her negligence right. I have been avoiding dealing with this whole situation because it just makes me sad. I did not want to sell the piece in the first place and have decided to keep it and have it reframed eventually by someone who knows what they are doing. Never deal with Megan! read more

I had an art PC framed at Megan's and found out she was not nailing the corners of the frame just gluing them which means when the wood swells and receeds the corners will all split and fall apart. I just bumped mine and the whole thing fell apart. I would never go there again regardless what sales she has. Check your framed items and make sure it is nailed. read more

I took a piece in to be framed for my child's room. I showed Megan what I had and explained how I planned to give it to my son. She said my options were limited and so I went with her suggestion spending 450$ (!) to frame a 60$ item. I explained that I had some specific concerns and she assured me it would be no problem...I was able to pick it up 3 WEEKS later and was VERY disappointed in how it looked in the frame. The paper was not flat at all, there were waves everywhere causing glare. It was also very heavy, dangerously heavy to hang in a child's room. I do not understand why she did not notice all of this when she was framing it and call me to go over options or see if I even wanted to proceed. When I got it home my husbands first words were "What happened to it?" I was just sick about it and emailed Megan who said "There are other options bring it in and we'll look at it". So I drug the heavy thing 55 minutes back down to Madison, when I got there she said my option was to take it out and use the frame for something else! Like what?!? How do you reuse a custom shaped frame? I left there, went to a different framing shop, and had it framed in 3 DAYS in a custom frame I can lift with 1 hand for 90$. Overall very poor customer service, why not call when you realize you can't do what you tell a customer you can do...makes me sick to be out the 450$ as well, though I gladly would have paid it had it turned out. read more
