Dr. Y suggested Mounjaro. Mom would have to inject it, but after a TBI (abuse-related) can't look to the left, up/down and sees double out of her left eye. Dr. Y didn't care. Then she prescribed Jardiance knowing mom is HIGHLY susceptible to yeast infections. Within 2 days of taking it mom had a yeast infection vaginally & rectally. Mom quit taking it. Dr. Y left for maternity leave. Dr. Girish Paranjape took her place. He suggested mom take Invokana, top side effect to that was yeast infections. Another suggestion was Farxiga. Some of those side effects are dizziness, tiredness, hunger, fast heart rate and anxiety. Mom already has hypothyroidism, Vertigo (dizziness caused by TBI in 1993), high blood pressure, CPTSD and Anxiety. Mom has over 250 food/medication/environmental allergies. She carries an Epi/Pen 24/7. She is HIGHLY susceptible to reactions to medications. She cannot even take Claritan D or Benadryl, regular or dye-free. Ya think they even read medical charts? If they did and paid attention they wouldn't be prescribing these various meds/would they? Maybe they just want to have patients continuously on meds, not fixing any problems. One time my husband took mom to Dr. Y's. She can't drive cuz of the TBI. He forgot to put his mask back on before entering their office. The receptionist pointed her finger at him and LOUDLY and RUDELY said, "YOU! MASK!" He said, "I've got one in the car." Then she tried to shove one to him. He got his from the car. Mom emailed and called after Dr. Yerelian's return from maternity leave about needing a physical and could never get through on the phone and nobody replied to her emails. Her office used to reply to emails the same day. Then in March their computer kept calling and leaving messages to remind her to come into the office for a visit She'd already chosen a new physician outside their office. They can have their computer call and leave messages, but they can't reply to emails or answer when mom calls. Mom finally blocked their number. Left this review under CHPG Highlands and Dr. Girish Paranjape as well. And as I was looking through, posting reviews I found that Dr. Girish Paranjape has a 1 star rating out of 5 on ALL the review sites I found with his name on it. Doesn't give me any confidence that Dr. Elise Yerelian found any importance on those she left care to when she went on maternity leave. No, I won't responding to anyone from Dr. Y's office. I've made my opinion known.

Over the last couple of years, things have declined substantially. They have moved to become part of "Colorado Physician Practice" which includes a new online portal to access records, messaging etc.. The portal is buggy and sends you a separate email, text anytime there is an update to your record. So if you have an appt and have BP, HR, exam etc.. you get three separate texts about those items being put into your chart only the text doesn't tell you that. Instead it says you have an important update in your portal to look at. The NP I saw the most over the years left, the next doc I chose also left and the then a third is only part time and floats. I needed some help in the last couple years dealing with perimenopause symptoms. I saw 3 different folks in 18 months for it. The answer I got was essentially shrugged shoulders and basically a "that's life" answer. I had to explain that with a history of hormonal issues, I thought perhaps my symptoms were being magnified by that. I was offered birth control. I was told I didn't have the right symptoms (no hot flashes) to warrant hormonal treatment. I explained my mother and grandmother didn't have hot flashes either. I left the last appt and sat in my car and cried. I looked for another provider and finally got the care I needed to manage symptoms and am a whole new person. I understand perhaps since none of them are OB/GYNs, maybe they aren't versed in the latest in menopause care, so I just accepted I would have 2 providers. One for menopause care and DFM for the normal wellness checks/sick issues. Recently, I've changed my mind. I needed a form filled out for my health insurance to prove I've had a physical within the last year. I sent it in last month with no response. I called to check on it and they asked me to email it and would have it done same day. Did not get it back, after 3 more phone calls, I am still waiting to get it back. Everyone in the office is very nice and super apologetic when you have to call multiple times for things, but why do I have to do that? I went on my health insurance website to find a new practice. It's not worth it to be at DFM anymore.

The nurse practitioner was very short with me. I had an x-ray done at her suggestion, but never received the results. Each time I tried to call about results, I felt the response was extremely rude, as if I were asking them a huge favor. I also had a problem with one of my medications that I wanted to talk to the nurse about. For both things I was told that I would need a new appointment to have someone speak with me. It feels like they are absolutely just in it for the money and not patient care. Sad.

I also work with incarcerated people who have struggled with addiction, and as the evidence confirms, many tell stories of having successful lives until doctors either cut off their meds or add difficult hoops for them to jump through. I've even talked to my provider about this and was told she understands, so I was surprised when they started forcing everyone to take drug tests EVERY TIME they refill a script and charging between $26 (for a quick test!) to $155 (for a full panel). Then I discovered they had opened their own urinalysis clinic adjacent to the Family Medicine Practice. They are fleecing customers and making the addiction crisis worse, and sadly, they know it. When I reminded my provider that these unaffordable grifts make it logical for patients to just skip the hoops (which build a relationship based on mistrust) and instead buy their pills on the streets, she said, "you don't have to come here for service." This is why 110k drug users died from overdoses last year in the USA.

She has always been very responsive to my panicked calls (when is it not an urgent call, when your tiny baby is sick, even if it's "normal"?) She has also welcomed my questions/hesitations when it comes to some Western medicine norms, and she always offers holistic and research-based advice/thoughts/diagnoses. She even met me on a Saturday (not office hours) to give my girl the last of her three-day antibiotic shots for an ugly ear infection. Personally, she diagnosed and has helped treat issues I've had for years -- that a counselor, midwife, dermatologist, and naturopath didn't catch. While it is a younger and smaller practice, I'm definitely willing to overlook a less-than-friendly receptionist who answered the phone a few times or confusion with paperwork. The care and professionalism we've received when it really counts is invaluable to me. Update (Feb 2018): she no longer has a frazzled receptionist. Leslie is always kind, warm, and welcoming! :)

Unfortunately, she was very impersonal, did offer a natural and holistic approach I was looking for and rushed me out of her office. I'll keep looking for someone that will offer me more than 15 minutes of their time. I wasted a $30 copay on 15 useless minutes.

I've never been kept waiting more than a few minutes past my scheduled appt time and have never felt like I was rushed or didn't have time to ask any questions I had. She in fact spent at least an extra 45 minutes with me at one recent visit - I was much sicker than I realized and she recognized right away that I needed to be transferred to the ER. She made all the necessary calls, and kept an eye on my condition until the paramedics arrived. She is prepared to deal with urgent problems like the one I was having but also takes the time to go thru everything health-related at least every year and makes sure that I'm up to date on my vaccines, etc. I feel very lucky to have found such a competent and empathetic medical provider.
