    I've been a patient for about 8 years now and have seen most of the providers in the practice. I am…read moregenerally healthy and was in for minor things over the years. Over the last couple of years, things have declined substantially. They have moved to become part of "Colorado Physician Practice" which includes a new online portal to access records, messaging etc.. The portal is buggy and sends you a separate email, text anytime there is an update to your record. So if you have an appt and have BP, HR, exam etc.. you get three separate texts about those items being put into your chart only the text doesn't tell you that. Instead it says you have an important update in your portal to look at. The NP I saw the most over the years left, the next doc I chose also left and the then a third is only part time and floats. I needed some help in the last couple years dealing with perimenopause symptoms. I saw 3 different folks in 18 months for it. The answer I got was essentially shrugged shoulders and basically a "that's life" answer. I had to explain that with a history of hormonal issues, I thought perhaps my symptoms were being magnified by that. I was offered birth control. I was told I didn't have the right symptoms (no hot flashes) to warrant hormonal treatment. I explained my mother and grandmother didn't have hot flashes either. I left the last appt and sat in my car and cried. I looked for another provider and finally got the care I needed to manage symptoms and am a whole new person. I understand perhaps since none of them are OB/GYNs, maybe they aren't versed in the latest in menopause care, so I just accepted I would have 2 providers. One for menopause care and DFM for the normal wellness checks/sick issues. Recently, I've changed my mind. I needed a form filled out for my health insurance to prove I've had a physical within the last year. I sent it in last month with no response. I called to check on it and they asked me to email it and would have it done same day. Did not get it back, after 3 more phone calls, I am still waiting to get it back. Everyone in the office is very nice and super apologetic when you have to call multiple times for things, but why do I have to do that? I went on my health insurance website to find a new practice. It's not worth it to be at DFM anymore.

    I'm genuinely sad to be writing this review because this practice used to be excellent…read more I moved to Denver in 2016 and needed a primary care provider I could see regularly, as I take PrEP and require routine follow-ups. Dr. Peter Prutch was recommended to me by neighbors, and at the time, Family Centered Medicine was exactly what the name promised. Visits were efficient, the staff was friendly, labs were done in-office with fast results, and the overall experience felt thoughtful and patient-centered. I happily left a glowing review back then because it was earned. Unfortunately, since Dr. Prutch retired (hi Peter I hope you're enjoying retirement) and the practice was sold -- now operating as Part of Pinnacle Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, a subsidiary of Brookside Health Group, owned by Vertikle Enterprises -- the quality and continuity of care have deteriorated significantly. I saw the new provider (Ona Ahumada, NP) twice and left both visits feeling judged and unheard. My medical records clearly had not been reviewed, and notes about me were literally written on a napkin during one appointment. It felt unprofessional and rushed, and the contrast to how this practice once operated was stark. The only reason I returned for a second visit was because of Nikki, the medical assistant, who has consistently been kind, competent, and the one steady, positive presence in the office. Nikki is exceptional and deserves recognition -- and frankly, better systems and leadership around her. In December, I informed the office that I would be changing PCPs and proactively completed a release of records. Since then, I've spent weeks trying to contact the office to provide my new physician's information. Calls go unanswered, voicemail boxes are full, and when you call the number now listed on the door, you're routed to an automated system that also ends in a full mailbox. Three weeks into the new year, I physically went to the office only to find handwritten and printed signs taped to the door stating the phone system has been down since early January and that the practice has moved -- with no reliable way to reach a human being. I'm not seeking care here anymore. I'm simply trying to have my medical records transferred to my new PCP, and the inability to accomplish something so basic is deeply frustrating and unacceptable in a healthcare setting. This practice was once a model of efficient, respectful primary care. Since the corporate takeover, that experience has been lost. Final note: Nikki is amazing. She was consistently professional, empathetic, and helpful throughout all of this.

I was seen here recently for an annual physical as I have every year since starting there. I am, fortunately, I very healthy woman, and so my visits are usually only this one time a year. I also happen to be an ER nurse so feel confident in what health questions should be asked, what assessments should be done, and what tests should be ordered during an annual physical. When I called in to make my appointment, I was notified that my former PA, Darren Roth was no longer with the clinic. The turn over rate of this place has been INSANE over the past few years. It is a revolving door of PAs and MDs. It's disappointing because I have had some wonderful doctors and PAs there. So when I called in to make my appointment, it was disappointing to be choosing from someone new again. The doctor enters the room and introduces himself and starts asking me questions. So far, this is all normal outside of the fact that I'm not sitting on the exam table and I'm not in a gown. I chalk this up to maybe people have had complaints about this process, and so they now let patients remain in their clothes during the questioning part of the exam. Fine. The doc then asks me to get on the exam table and listens to my heart and lungs, checks my strength of my arms and legs, pushes on my abdomen, and then tells me to go get my labs drawn. No skin check, no breast exam, no looking in my eyes and ears, no looking in my mouth, no palpating my neck/glands. These should be standard assessments during an annual physical. I ask the doctor if he's going to do a urine analysis, and he says, "you only need to do that if we're testing for STIs. Do you want STIs testing?" There is actually a lot of data about that can be gathered about your health by looking at the urine, primarily kidney function, so his response took me off guard. Now, like I said, I'm pretty healthy, so I just let it go and didn't insist on the urine test, and instead just got my bloodwork. A few days later my bloodwork results come back and I look at them on the portal. One of my lab values was on the high side (my creatinine), but it wasn't outrageously out of the norm. This can be attributed to many things that are generally benign when looking at this test. There are other lab values that correlate to the creatinine that can help determine kidney health and functionality and these lab values were all within the norm. I then get a phone call later from doctor Korneluk saying that, "you have stage 2 kidney disease and need to come back in for more bloodwork and a URINE TEST." First of all, my creatinine was 3/100 of a point above normal. That does NOT mean I have kidney disease! Secondly, if he had ordered a urine analysis like I recommended the first time, I wouldn't have to come back for that. No doctor looking at one abhorrent data point would jump to the conclusion of stage 2 kidney disease. He did tell me that he studied to be a Sports Medicine doctor, so maybe he's new to reading lab work, but calling a patient and using verbiage like "disease and failure" only illicit fear and unnecessary stress. Fortunately, I know enough to know that I am almost certainly NOT experiencing kidney failure and was just dehydrated and possibly in mild rhabdo from playing 5 hours of sand volleyball the night before. So, the exam was terrible, he didn't order the right tests and spent a total of about 7 minutes in the room with me. He used fear mongering language over the phone to tell me I need to come back in to pay for more labs, and then I found out he charged me over $450 for this experience! My insurance only approved to pay for half of that visit because there is NO reason an annual physical should cost that much. As someone who also works in healthcare, it is SO disappointing that this type of thing is happening. I expect providers to hold themselves to a higher standard. Go somewhere else for your primary healthcare.

I was on a bad saga of health care providers and thanks to Sound Clinic I am pain-free and can now avoid spinal surgery. Feb 2021: Doing a yoga pose, I ended up in the ER after my back spasmed. June 2021-Sep 2021: More limited function. Got a MRI that showed disc degeneration and was referred to a spinal surgeon and he was zero help. Dec 2021: Injured my back again. I was recommended to try steroid shots before going into surgery. I did four steroid shots and was in extreme sciatic pain radiating down my left leg. April 2022: Had a spinal surgeon on the calendar before I listened to myself and decided to pursue something more sacrum related as the pain was really coming from this area and not where the disc herniation was located. All symptoms pointed towards a sacrum injury meanwhile the spinal doctors disagreed with me and said my sacrum pain was coming from stenosis. On a late night Google search, I found Shawn Naylor's name buried onto another review and set up an appt. They got me in at the end of April and there were no shenanigans. He gave me prolozone at the same appointment and two days later I was walking pain free again. Later, it was diagnosed that my issues had come from a collapsed left arch that led to a crooked sacrum. Imagine this: Couldn't walk for four months more than 5 minutes to walking as long as I'd like now Couldn't go to yoga from Feb 2021-April 2022 and am now going to yoga 1-2 times per week (taking it slow!) Couldn't pick up my two-year old son and can now lift him into the air Couldn't pick up heavy loads of groceries and have no limitations now. I believe Sound Clinic is progressive, listens to the patient and above all else, is willing to help in any way they can. Dr. Naylor also provided a kidney detox supplement that has helped me detox from NSAIDs that I was on for months, as well. I also think the reviews that critique the staff are unwarranted. It was the quickest staff and doctors and most on time office I've yet to visit.

As someone who is a practitioner myself, I used to refer so many people to this clinic until I became a patient. Yes, I also have to call 4x a week when prescriptions run out and have had to stop medications or raw dog withdrawal bc they do not respond for weeks. The Sound Clinic does not respond to my pharmacy either. You cant get ahold of anyone. They might call you back a week later. Originally, after waiting 6months to get in for functional support post thyroidectomy I was booked with Sheri Fox who was angry with me that the office goofed up timing of my lab results. Without these results, she told me my problem is lyme disease and my symptoms of heart palpitations are not thyroid med related (they were). She was incredibly rude, gaslighted me when I told her my endo wouldnt take my low T3 seriously. I could write a book on the follies of lyme disease treatment, having spent 15 years prior doing so- and seeing so many of my patients getting worse with expensive aggressive treatment. I told her any remaining lyme I treat with bee venom, she scoffed at this (felt like she was pressuring me). I dont have lyme I had end stage hashis (dead thyroid) and then a thyroidectomy, causing premature peri menopause like symptoms. Anyway, a waste of time. So then I was shuttles around to 3 other providers. I booked the other new NP who was listed as a hormone specialist- Jessica. Omg. I had my own labs done- 60% of which were extremely out of range - 0 dhea, extremely low Testosterone, low range T3, ect. Low ferritan, low vitamin D, elevated CBC. She flat out said they were normal and in the next breath admitted she isnt trained in hormones or functional medicine- she was an ER nurse. She acted upset as my friend asked pointed questions, really concerned for me. Then Jessica swore up and down she would refer to Lyndsey, but never did. She told me in session "i can only refer you to Dr. Lyndsey if you are nice. Dr. Lyndsey only takes nice patients." My friend was shocked- I am not a problem patient. I am a tender hearted person and I never raise my voice. Anyway, I was told Dr. Lyndsey cant work with me- and even if she agreed to it would take 6-9months to get in to see her for hormone support. Anyway, the only other providers from there for hormone support - one is an obgn I was told doesnt have much functional training -I met with her and she was nice, but acted like I wasnt helping them help me- and defended her colleagues. At this point, I just needed help in any shape or form. Someone to look at my lab results. She hadn't of course until the appointment I was shocked by yet another provider expressing so much of their own overwhelm without doing any of their own prep work. 1) listen to your patient 2) read and understand the blood tests 3) affirm where symptoms and testing points to possible issues and pursue further testing, treatment ect. Refer out beyond scope. I begged for referrals and over the course of my time with SC every single referral was out of network. Again, fumbled. 3-4 more calls a week, no response. Waiting extra months to get an in network referral. Why? I was then called by the manager to switch over to (finally!!) Their functional hormone expert Jaime, but I would have to wake up at 6am for appointments - only available two days a week, as she is in Italy. And oh, by the way we dont know if she will continue working due to personal reasons (they told me the reason). Totally exhausted at this point, I just had the damn appointment. She was gruff, it was 6am and quickly agreed to what I had begged every other provider- change my thyroid medication. It seemed to easy but then asking a few more questions it was apparent she hadn't read my chart. She didnt know I was a thyroidectomy patient. Hadn't read my recent labs (or any labs) and told me they werent super remarkable - again while not fully reading them. I was still hopeful she would do so when concocting a new formula of medication as I do not have a thyroid (at all) - but a few hours later received a message with dosages that were half what I was taking (!) Again, she didn't even read my recent med dosages and didnt look up that I was a thyroidectomy patient!!! Omgggg. Now, in addition to endless calls for 3very other tiny request with this clinic, this was both horrifying and so funny at this point. Several more messages she then denies me a medication change. She doesnt feel comfortable. More messages, back and forth until she agrees to what I reinstate was essential- partial replacement... It takes another 2 weeks to provide authorization paperwork after 5 calls and emails. I get the medication and realize I dont have clear instructions. I am told Jaime is unavailable for 2 weeks for medication based question and my query is "nonurgent"....see a picture here?

I had been struggling with mold toxicity along with a host of other symptoms and felt truly stuck, but he completely changed that for me. From the very beginning, he listened so well and really took the time to hear my whole story. Prior, I had seen my PCP, an allergist, and had countless visits to urgent care where they all could not find a cause for what I was experiencing, recommending I address "anxiety." On the other hand, NP Yu explained everything in a way I could actually understand, breaking down everything and helping me see the bigger picture of what was going on in my body. He identified the right testing, uncovered clear biological markers, and built a comprehensive plan to address the root issues. For the first time, I felt like I wasn't just being treated for symptoms, I was actually being cared for as a whole person. Because of his guidance, I've experienced dramatic improvements that I never thought were possible, and also genuinely learned so much. What really sets him apart is not just his knowledge, but the way he genuinely cares. I left every appointment feeling heard, understood, hopeful, and supported. If you're on the fence about functional medicine like I once was, I can honestly say NP Yu is the person who can help open that door for you. He's made such a difference in my life, and I'm truly grateful.
