Sometimes we forget to commend excellence, we only write or speak of poor experiences. I'm a little…read morelate but I haven't forgotten about the 3 transactions I have had brokered through Realty of Maine. I am pleased with the expert service I received from Brian Lachapelle on multiple occasions (2006- present). Brian is a true professional, who always has his clients interest first and foremost. His attention to detail has saved us many a headache, through his sage advice/guidance in so many aspects of home buying, selling, renting, etc. I wish everyone buying and selling a home had the fortune of being represented by Brian, a tremendous asset to Realty of Maine.

I was required to put a 1k deposit down BEFORE i saw the land even though I requested the date to be changed on the contract so I could see it. I never received key information about questions I had about the deed including text that said I needed a specific person to approve my building plans and if I had to have the construction done under a year. I never received a copy of the HOA agreement only the name and the annual feeds, none of the restrictions. I was not told that a survey was the same as the inspection. I declined the survey because it was already done before and I had the topological maps. No one told me that I had the right to view the land before I signed. No one met me at the land to view despite telling them I was going to be there that weekend. They tricked me and did not protect me as a buyer. DO NOT USE. They will screw you over.

Britani was a fantastic realtor from start to finish. She helped us sell our home in Maine in 2…read moremonths, which was critical because winter was approaching, we had already moved from the area, and we didn't want to leave our home vacant in winter. She really knows the market and knew exactly how to price and showcase our home to get us the best return. She gave us great advice about what we needed to fix and what we didn't need to fix before listing our home. She held some open houses for our house to get the word out that our house was up for sale. She gave us great advice about accepting and rejecting offers, how to counter offer, etc. She is very pleasant and classy. My wife and I definitely recommend you use Britani as your realtor if you are planning to buy or sell a home in eastern Maine.

I was given excuse after excuse when I attempted to your a property. Clearly they evade out of state buyers and don't have any ethics as a real estate company. The attached photos are conversations between me and Brittany, who gave never returned my calls and her cohart Jan Currier who gave me the runaround for 4 weeks before passing me off to Brittany only to take an offer from another person despite me being an active prospect who had their Lon approval and finances looked at weeks ago. Stay away from this realtor, she will not help you if your selling or buying and stay away from this agency all together.

We toured a couple of apartments in Old Town managed by MREM, looking for a 2-bedroom. One of the…read moreplaces was listed as a 2-bedroom, at 2-bed price, but when we see the place, one of the rooms was only accessible through another "bedroom." It was a living room with a door, not legally considered a bedroom in most places, not to mentioned it was way more cramped than the AI-generated photos implied, and it had a stale cigarette smell after presumably being empty for two years (as far as I could tell from the listing dates and price changes on Zillow). Every one of their apartments looks the same: dingy, outdated bedrooms with the bare minimum (toilet, stove, etc) going for the prices of legitimate apartments, using AI photos to "imagine" what the spaces could look like. Get corporations out of housing in Maine if they're going to just buy up all the properties to bleed us of our rent.

It's 2026 now and I imagine they own more buildings and leach off of more people than ever before. I have a couple of connections to folks in a building downtown - they're having to find new housing because rent has been increased despite bare minimum improvements (that were not done with the goal of longevity and again are bare minimum as far as safety or smell (sorry to be gross)). The company promises amenities that simply do not exist or are so far gone in disrepair that they are unusable. They hide bizarrely strict rules about being away from your own apt, as well as put restrictions on hosting (this at least makes sense as far as noise but - what a world mrem creates where adults don't get to dictate their own life plans and must report back to the mother-ship as some sort of authority or you could get evicted. They have no qualms displacing low income people that have been in their units for years by raising the rent (again - with no improvements made which would still be deeply problematic and egregious as housing is such a crisis in Maine and in particular, the Bangor area). mrem is a company of classist, ableist, ageist, slumlords and they should be ashamed. As far as I can tell, they likely treat and tend to units where people are paying more and continue to utterly neglect all others. How they sleep at night is beyond me. Do not risk getting into a place under this company. 10/10 do not recommend.
