I had to euthanize my dog, Meeko, today. Dr Meghan Davis got to my home within the time she said. She gave Meeko his first shot to sedate him. After a few minutes they gave him the final shot ... but it wasn't the final shot. His heart sped up. She made a comment about how strong he is and how he's fighting this. How can they not know that a comment like that is devistating to someone who has made such a difficult decision to euthenize a member of their family to minimize their suffering? They gave him a second shot. Meeko's heart continued to stay strong minutes after the second shot. The doctor said she needed to give him a third shot. At that point I felt panicked. His mouth was moving. His heart was still beating strong and I didn't know how long the sedative lasted and if he was feeling anything or aware of what was happening. The doctor said Meeko wasn't feeling anything because his eyelid didn't close automatically when she touched it. The doctor suggested that maybe the drug wasn't working because of his heart murmur and she might not have gotten it into his vein on the first or second shot. At this point my sadness and anxiety turned to anger. I initially refused the third shot because everything seemed so wrong. But his heart was still pumping strong so I eventually agreed. During the first shot I'm crying quietly, looking at my sweet Meeko, thanking him for being in my life, telling him how much I love him, what a sweet dog he is and how he'll soon have no more pain. By the third shot I felt crazed trying to hold back my anger while apologizing profusely to Meeko for this terrible experience and hoping his brain wasn't processing any of this. Meeko eventually passed away. I wanted to have my dog euthenized at home with the expectation it would be more peaceful. Instead it was a traumatic and emotionally devistating experience. The doctor offered no apology. I suffered. I just hope my precious Meeko didn't.

Nala as she waits to be euthanized

I made an appointment to euthanize my 15 year old fur baby - I waited one week until they said would be in my area. I received confirmation for 12/28 today's date between 9 am and 11 am - my dog has been my emotional support through the past two years when I lost everyone in my family - needless to say I stayed up all night crying and praying that it would be as smooth as this difficult event could be - after waiting and saw it was 11:15 am I called and she responded in an argumentative way insisting my appointment was for the following day. Since I revived and saved the confirmation and took the day off from work I knew she was incorrect. I sent back the saved confirmation received from her and only then she accepted and said they would come today and would be at my house within one hour. After waiting another 2.5 hours I texted them and called and got a response from the doctor herself. She was nasty, uncaring and insensitive. If this is who you want taking cate of your pets then by all means call this woman. I would not want her near anything alive ! Not even my plants. This woman is obviously in this to make a buck and could care less about any emotion or pain involved. I had to give one star to be able to post - but no stars

They have become our pets' official veterinary service, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or go anywhere else. We've had multiple check-up visits, surgeries (spay/neuters), first visits for a feral cat, and more (as I said, lots of new family members). Unfortunately, we also had to say a final goodbye to our oldest pet. Through every stage, the staff have been absolutely incredible--passionate, understanding, friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. I sincerely hope anyone who comes across this review will not hesitate to take their pet to SurfSide.

They then put him back under anesthesia and re-did the surgery and I picked him up and the stitches burst open again within 24 hours. I brought him back again for them to re do surgery and when I picked him up they burst again within another 48 hours. I brought him back again and they basically said they can't do it & I have to bring him to an actual surgeon to get it done right. But they charged me every time for their garbage work. I took him to Dr Hansen and he got it done 1st try which is pathetic for Martin downs considering after 3 failed surgeries with all that tearing of the tissue, Dr Hansen got it 1st try. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE FOR SURGERY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT DRAINED AND YOUR ANIMAL KILLED. 100% would never bring another animal here and I hope they get shut down soon. EDIT: To your response: That's false there was no biopsy done or anything to determine that it was a tumor. He went into surgery with us not knowing if it was an infection or a tumor. I understand that the tumor was very large and I can understand getting sent to another surgeon but the fact that you guys kept trying 3 more times with no results and continued to charge me everytime is absurd. So after over $2000 he was leaking feces into his body and would've gone septic and died and at that point my only choice is to go to the other surgeon which was another $1500 to just walk in. Don't try to make excuses. You guys messed up bad and did nothing to try and make it right. Absolutely heartless. But at least you got your money right.

I'm giving two out of five stars for a few reasons…read more Dr. Wade does seem capable and knowledgable and she clearly has a passion for animals. That said, her time management could definitely use some improvement. I scheduled our first appointment, and the day before, I was asked to move it up an hour, which I agreed to. Then, on the day of the appointment, there was another request to switch back to the original time. I held back my frustration, as although I agreed, I was forced to rearrange our calendar at short notice. Regarding our second visit; shortly after confirming the 10:30AM appointment, I received a text asking if she could come an hour earlier, as she was apparently trying to accommodate another client. I agreed, but then received another text shortly thereafter asking us to return to the original time of 10:30AM. Honestly, it feels like there's a perception that people don't have busy lives and that the onus is on the client to accommodate her other patients. It's inconvenient and causes difficulties for people. The next morning Dr. Wade showed up at 9:15AM, 75 minutes early, insisting that leaving an unanswered voicemail and text justifies disregarding our scheduled appointment time. I turn my phone off at night so I did not get her communications; meaning that she got no affirmation that that would be okay with us. Dr Wade claimed that her patients appreciate it when she arrives early. Ten or 15 minutes might be okay, but I am confident that most people do not think that showing up early an hour and a half plus in the AM is acceptable. It wouldn't have stuck in my craw so much however, when I attempted another honest discussion with her regarding this issue, instead of accepting responsibility, Dr. Wade claimed that perhaps I was confused with another veterinarian who services our area. I had to acknowledge to myself what I was dealing with and quickly lost all confidence in her willingness to address the situation honestly. Humility is a virtue and I sincerely hope that that once Dr. Wade is a bit more seasoned, she might realize the importance of being more considerate towards clients in that aspect of her business. In any case, this is the second time (out of two visits) that the scheduling has inconvenienced us and that really isn't conducive to a good client/doctor relationship in my opinion. Another concerning issue is that Dr Wade insists that you order medications from an online pharmacy that is directly linked to her website. Not surprisingly, the pricing is significantly higher than regular avenues like Chewy, Costco, CVS and even our own compounding pharmacy. Further, there is a required $19.95 "expedited 3 business day delivery fee". This is another problematic hoop to jump through. Because of the exorbitant pricing, I had to insist that she call in the script to my preferred pharmacy. She did, but with the following text message, which I found to be dismissive and brash: "We just got your text. We were closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. We got Chewy's email. We'll give a verbal approval this one time." I will say that Dr. Wade seems up-to-date on testing, treatments, and studies related to pet care, which we did appreciate, but her platform just isn't the right fit for us. I would suggest contacting Midway Veterinary, Dr. Holland has been in the business for 40 years, the office is very accommodating and the staff is fantastic.

Dr. Jolin was assigned to him, and gave him a complete examination including updating vaccinations. A few months after the initial exam, my dog started showing signs of a skin irritation. I made an appointment, and went back to Dr. Jolin. She performed a culture and after the test results, Dr. Jolin prescribed an antibiotic (for the infection) and a steroid (Prednisone) to control the itching. It worked for a while, but after my dog was off the Prednisone for a while, the irritation returned. Dr. Jolin then prescribed Apoquel, which only mildly controlled the itchy skin. When I returned for his yearly appointment, once again Dr. Jolin prescribed an antibiotic as well as Fluconazole for a yeast infection. So far the medication seems to be working well, but we'll have to see if it lasts. If not, Dr. Jolin suggested they could try an injection. Each time I have taken my dog to PCAMC, Dr. Jolin has always been very kind and professional, and she has treated my "buddy" with exceptional care. The techs are also very friendly and knowledgeable in their field. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have also used Snips & Snoozes for grooming, and both Britney and Veronica do a great job.
