My tuxedo cat stevie got a skin infection under her eye in the middle of the night. The next morning I called to see if they could squeeze her in that day as I had a flight to catch. They let me know upfront that to get her in it would be a $100 er vet fee, so they had me send in photos to the vet instead. The vet looked at her photos free of charge and had a script sent in for an ointment, I was able to pick up her ointment in less than an hour and was only charged $45 with NO VISIT FEE!!! Her skin healed with no issues or irritation. An outstanding vet office. I also take my yellow and chocolate labs here for yearly checkups and shots, the service is fairly priced with short wait times. They take such good care of my 12 year old India and 3 year old Ox. read more

I have a 10-year-old Labrador service dog. She's becoming eat up with baseball size tumors I had one removed on her rear leg. I went to go see Doctor Julie Paulsen. at Montgomery, Animal Clinic. I knew she was not an oncologist I was having zero luck with these people outside of them draining in my bank account so I went to Dr. Paulson after she examine Elsa and talked to me about all of my 'options', two things became Crystal clear, her heart was in this, number two. She had the determination to go vertical to fix my Ella's After running countless test to clear her for surgery and the most important almost, She decided to go to veterinarian school many years ago In the desire, you have to be a great veterinarian. Thank you dr. Paulsen. I wish I could post a photographs on here let the people can see just how serious removing these three tumors were and you were straight up with me from the gate didn't play any games tell me just like it was and I was able to make a good decision and you know what I came and got my Elsa that evening . THANK YOU.... you And also, I was pleasantly surprised of the bill. I actually prepared myself for three times that amount because of this complexity, but I think that your bill was more than reasonable.PLEASE thank your entire team They were a part of this too THANK ALL OF YOU from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for giving my Elsa back to me.. read more

I have been with Monterey for many years now. Dr. Wood is our main Doc and he takes excellent care of our dogs. He takes the time to investigate issues, provide proper treatment and advice, and takes the time to explain all alternatives. I know my pets are in the best care possible and we are grateful to Monterey Animal Clinic. Thank You Dr. Wood. Sincerely, Christi DeFazio read more

My dog had been treated before and received very good care by Dr. Wood. My dog is nervous and benefits from sedation depending on the vet and procedure. He was sedated and adequate time was given to kick in. The biopsy was done without incident. When I went back Dr. Wood was not available and although my dog was given the same sedation as his biopsy, they scheduled him so not enough time was given for it to kick in.They then wanted to sedate him even more which I was not OK with. They then wanted to charge for a consult that they did not give him. Dave, the office manager then came out and told me I didn't need to pay for the consult, but I should find a vet with better protocol. Yes, those were his words. My dog is now asleep in the car from the meds that he had been given, but they scheduled poorly and did not give enough time to kick in and also badmouthed him to other vets that I called to make an appt with. Unprofessional. Unbelievable. read more

Great place! My 20 year old cat needed to be seen. My usual vet was going to charge me an extra $100 to be seen as an emergency. A friend told me to call Monterey. They saw my cat with two hours and charged $75 for the visit. Loved everything about them! The place isn't fancy, but the care and service was outstanding. Needless to say, I will be going there from now on! read more

Very pleased with Monterey Animal Clinic and the ongoing care they are providing our pets (3 cats) 1 Dachshund. The office staff is friendly and welcoming, rare in most vet offices. I was happy to be referred and transfer all of our records. New to Jensen Beach, it was not easy finding a vet practice I felt comfortable with. Dr. Hooks was super and I am pleased I met him before he retired. We have rotated among the vets reflecting different issues and timing. Pleased with all. Lucy D. read more

I'm very happy that I was able to find Dr. Wood my dog & cat's previous veterinarian from another office! He's great, honest and caring. The facility is warm and friendly which is a huge plus for me. They have an ER care and, I believe, an ophthalmologist's facility too, a one-stop convenience! Everyone is professional and kind. Having to move and live in an unfamiliar area was very concerning for my fur baby's well-being. Here's the best part Monterey Animal is approximately 5 minutes away, at the most, if there were no lights and emergency (I hope this will never be a day to experience)... I'm happy, happy! read more

Terrific experience everytime Your staff is really terrific as is my awesome Dr Maldonado. Everyone is always so cheerful and kind to all of my pups and I am so very grateful that you all are doing what you can in this pandemic era, coming out into the Florida heat that's coming off of that blacktop parking lot to get my pups while I sit in my air-conditioned car. Monterey Animal Clinic - Sherman - Veterinarians Near Me - Stuart, Florida

the vets are good. I like Dr Hook. however, on the day of my dog's neuter after the dog had a pre op and was in their care, there is a $433 extra charge never previously mentioned even though I had expressly asked if there were extra fees. When I complained, they refused to do the neuter. very unprofessional. I was a customer of theirs for 10 years, brought 5 dogs there, referred many. always paid my bills immediately. My advice: get everything in writing. never complain. tell them how wonderful they are no matter what. The vets, themselves, are fine. remember: they are always right. you just bow and thank them while handing over your CC. They are fragile. read more

Not impressed after Dr Giovondo left. A male vet walks in starts handling my dog with out saying who he was. I asked who he was he says oh I'm Dr Stinson didn't say much after that. On another visit when my dog was bitten a female vet was obsessed with putting a drain in his neck. I didn't want him staying overnight, put to sleep for a drain in his neck for approximately week or 2. I asked for alternative. She said she'd put him on surgical schedule , if I wanted to take him home with antibiotics to get his hematoma down by Monday or have surgery. I said we'll go home with antibiotics. In 3 days I got hematoma done with out surgery & a huge bill & no drain in his neck. read more

Called on a Weds with a cat with a bad leg/in pain. They scheduled me for Friday at 5. I should have known... When I came in they had me sign a contract and took a copy of my driver's license. Kinda like they have had a lot of credit disputes and this covers them... When the vet walked in I could tell by his demeanor this wasn't going to end well. He asked if I wanted an estimate, then said $400. To xray my cats leg. Leave now you're saying, right? Well first my 9 year old is standing there and now I owe them about $100 for weighing the cat and taking it's temp. Kinda stuck, right? Signed a contract... And it's after 5 on a Friday. I did the math on these guys. 4 "Drs" each working one or 2 days a week. $400 x @ a conservative 4 pets per hour = $1600 per hour. X an 8 hr day that's $12,800 PER DAY! Now that is conservative mind you. They wanted an extra $1300 + + + for a 90 min procedure... It's your money, I prefer to spend mine with someone honest. I'm so glad I could compensate the vet over $400 for 15 mins of his precious time. Call it what it is. A thief is a thief If I save one person a financial beating it was worth the time to post this read more

Monterey Animal Clinic has been so good to our dog and us since we moved here in 2015 through to the final days of our dog's life in 2023. Dr. Hooks found her hundreds of stones and gave us a plan and Dr. Stinman removed them. We continued to see Dr. Stinman and he helped us provide the best care for her after as well as whatever issues arose as she aged. Finally, Dr. Wood discovered her terminal cancer and helped us provide her the best palliative care we could right up to her final day. He always returned my calls and was quick in response. In the wake of her loss, we feel comforted knowing we did everything we could for her until the end. As a family of Monterey Animal Clinic, we have always felt cared for and that they cared a great deal about our sweet dog. We have never felt nickeled-and-dimed. We have always been provided several options and recommendations, leaving us feeling guided,  not pressured, and we felt supported in our final decisions. We would definitely use Monterey Animal Clinic again and recommend them as a wonderful place to take and care for your pet. read more
