I waited for the Megabus to come and when a Coach Canada came instead I did not get on it because there was no Megabus logo or anything that showed association. When I called to check where my bus was and was told it was the Coach Canada was my bus, I was told I have to wait till Mondays to "maybe" get a refund. Not cool. read more

No Internet anywhere in Canadian Side or American side, both ways from Toronto to Philadelphia. The American side driver was rude ... The answer to how many more minutes we have, was a long question from the driver and telling that why you don't pay attention to what I am saying, and a lot of other non senses. Finally I found that we have another 10 minutes, and then he himself came 10 minutes after that time when everyone were in the bus for 10 minutes. Error 99 always on the screen, and no internet available. DNS server had error... Bus was shaking very bad. I used Greyhound for going from Cambridge to Toronto, Internet was good and workoin on both sides. The only star The bus gets is for its driver in Canadian side, he was a very good man, polite , smiling and helpful. The price of the ticket was higher than Greyhound and the leg room was less than Greyhound. I would go with Greyhound the next time. read more

After an hour of waiting I went to the desk to ask where the bus was, I was met by an extremely rude man with awful facial hair (your goatee was disgusting mate, as was your entire personality). He seemed to think it was extremely amusing that I had been waiting an hour for the bus. He also wouldn't believe me that it never arrived, "It must've come because the time has passed!" "haha, you've been waiting that long!" "we don't have a bus tracking system haha!" Went from Kingston to Toronto on a Sunday. It was fast and timely. The price was not ideal though. Mega bus is but and miss for cheap tickets. Sometimes you can get to NYC for less than $15. Sometimes you can't get between two Ontario stops for less than 60. A good alternative to greyhound. Very nice and comfy buses. No Wi-Fi. read more

Well...where do I start? We had US visitors that needed to get from Pearson to Buffalo airport. Megabus had a great fare...but...their pickup location (revealed to us AFTER they charged the credit card) was downtown Toronto. We're in Mississauga, and our guests would have to fight Toronto's wonderful traffic to get there. We said no thanks, Megabus. But they charged the credit card anyway...and when we called to reverse it, we got the run around three time...and they HUNG UP ON US twice!!!!! And they refused to let us speak to a Manager! In fact, the last agent, told us that she was REQUIRED to end the call instead of letting us speak to her Manager. Obviously, it is their corporate policy to hang up on their customers instead of solving problems. We were told to call back in 1 hour and then later told to call back in another hour. So...in the spirit of good Canada-US relations, this is not the way to behave, Megabus folks!!!! You are putting Canadians' good name and reputation at risk, embarrassing me in front of my guests...and are the LAST company I will ever use. Caught a megabus from downtown Toronto to Niagara falls with young family, didn't mind the 20-30 minute walk through the snow to the falls with our stroller, actually enjoyed the novelty of the snow and we don't mind a bit of adventure. I do however consider it strange that you cannot get off at the terminal outside the casino which is the closest point to Niagara falls with children. We were willing to accept this but even one of the bus drivers we spoke to thought it was unfair to families wishing to visit the falls. We encountered an extremely rude and aggressive ticketing agent/customer service officer after missing our bus home. This is another story entirely. I have even made an official complaint against him which is a first for me. After paying for 3 seats (including one for our 18 month year old daughter due to "safety reasons" and "company policy" we were pressured into making room for other passengers by getting her to sit on our laps despite paying for her seat. I still can not believe how rude the customer service agent was. We are from Australia and have recently travelled through the USA and have been blown away by the service and kind nature of people there. We have had the opposite experience here in Toronto the past couple of days and this is the icing on the cake. When we got off the bus the driver put our pram/stroller on the sidewalk with some one else's suitcase and left it there without checking if it belonged to us. I handed the extra suitcase in but still, this proves we weren't the only ones to have a bad experience that night either. If there are other bus companies available then I suggest you consider them before megabus. One star because we still got to see Niagara Falls. * note: I wrote to megabus and received a refund for our return trip. No wifi even if the website states it is included. Did a 6h ride near a passenger who wouldn't wear his mask. When I called to complain I was giving the wrong information stating passengers only had to wear their masks to board or when they are within 6ft from each other which is not only wrong according to their website and according to Canadian health authorities regulations. I used to live in Welland, On and it would take me 3+ hrs using the Go bus, just to get to Toronto with all the waiting time it took. Then a friend told me about Megabus and I could now leave my place , get to the terminal, wait 10 minutes for Megabus and be in Toronto in 2hrs...without having to change 4 buses to do so. They are friendly, courteous, sometimes a little later...due to traffic, but always a nice ride with lovely seats , very clean and safe. Thank you Megabus...you are my hero... I just took a trip from Brockville, to Toronto for $25. Return! read more

My girlfriend and I took a Montreal to Toronto bus. There is no place to put your carry-on bags except on your lap. The floor was so cold that the cold went through my thick shoes. It was supposed to have wifi but it didn't. She took two other Megabus buses a few days later that also didn't have wifi. Megabus is just lying about wifi it seems. Took a bus from Toronto to the Niagara Falls: First the bus was 1 hour late, and no information about the delay was presented to us. Moreover, to wait in the garage of the bus terminal for an hour is not good for your health with all the exhaust. Then the bus took 3 hours instead of the 2 hours they advertised. When I complained to the gentleman who verified our tickets he was all up in my face and almost ready to fight and asked me "WHAT DO YOU WANNA DO HU?!". In addition, the clerk on the office "forgot" or simply ignored to inform us was that we were required to take a second bus to actually go to the Niagara Falls. Maybe i should have known, but as a tourist who never seen Canada before simply expected the bus to arrive by the falls and NOT the town of Niagara... Then on the way home a totally different bus came (from another company). The bus driver did not even inform us on the platform that this was the bus back which had replaced the Megabus that actually was supposed to pick us up. Fortunately I myself asked the driver, otherwise, he would leave 50 or so people on the platform and we would never go home. Finally, when I complained at the bus terminal to the guy in the booth, he did not apologized or anything, all he said was that he did not understand why I was complaining and made a funny face... I have used megabus fairly frequently to travel in Ontario and generally have been happy. Today was the first time that I was disappointed with the company. I had not managed to buy my ticket online as I was having problems with my phone. When I got to the counter the representative told me the fare would be $73. I asked him why was it so high as it is usually $43. He told me that 1 hour before departure Megabus jacks the fare up. This is pure price gouging. A company that does that to its customers just because it thinks it can get away with it will not get any further business from me. read more

I.am currently on a megabus Toronto to Montreal trip that is exactly one hour behind time. There was dreadful traffic coming out of Toronto so that a no one's fault. However, it is pitch dark and with the tinted windows I have no idea where I am. I know I am in Quebc because of the few road signs I manage to glimpse that are in French. Would it be to much to ask for a short announcement giving an estimate time of arrival? Apparently it would. The wifi is working and so are the outlets. Megabus customer service is horrible. My daughter bought a ticket in person an hour before departure in downtown Toronto. Frustrating to find out it cost $10 more to purchase in person than online. She waited and eventually lined up for the megabus only to be told it was going to Montreal not Welland. She phoned me immediately asking what to do. While still on the phone with me she went inside to talk to the lady she bought her ticket from who promptly told her oh well I guess you missed it. She didn't bother to tell my daughter there were more buses going to St Catharines she never offered to help her out. My daughter eventually got where she needed to go by walking to Union Station and taking the Go train and a couple other buses. She has taken this bus before so it was confusing as to why she missed it. So I called customer service today only to find out they probably switched buses to a coach Canada bus and of course she was looking for a megabus. I asked how they were going to help us out with this issue and she basically told me nothing. It doesn't matter that they switched to a different bus , it doesn't matter that the lady at the terminal was rude and it doesn't matter that there was no offer to help sort her situation out. She just kept telling me and the terms and conditions there are no refunds. Transferred me to customer service which I'm thinking does not truly exist. I do not recommend using Megabus. read more

I would not recommend Megabus as a reliable form of transportation based on my past experiences. The busses themselves are generally clean, offer Wi-Fi and power outlets (although sometimes those aren't functional), and tickets can be cheap if booked far enough in advance. However, on multiple occasions, Megabus has been delayed by hours without any sort of compensation to the customers. I travelled from Kingston to Montreal in the summer, and the bus was 2 hours delayed. Currently, I am trying to travel from Kingston to Brockville (a 50 minute drive) and the bus is delayed by an hour. The employees have been abrasive and unhelpful. Megabus will be the last form of transportation I consider until compensation and customer service policies are changed. read more

After an endless 13 hour train trip to New York City, I vowed to take the bus home instead. I was very happy with Megabus. The trip was very fast. It only took 10 hours, most of which I spent sleeping. The bus was comfortable and quiet. I had an empty seat next to me, which is essential for a good trip. In New York you catch the Megabus on the street, not at the bus station. I've had bad experiences with Greyhound in the past, so this was a pleasant surprise. read more

Rode from Toronto to Philadelphia on Labor Day. Bus left right on time. Choose first floor center window seat and had no one next to me. I arrived almost hour early; # 6 in line. I brought inflatable head pillow, water, snack bars and took a sedative. Upstairs seems more spacious but can get warm. Downstairs was cold at first but driver adjusted to comfortable. Try to get downstairs center as toilet in rear. Slight delay at immigration due to foreign passengers; another delay at Buffalo driver change as he was few minutes late. Bus stops for 15 minute breaks every two hours or so. Arrived about 45 minutes late despite light traffic. NOTE: Driver was safe and professional. I did get rest so I arrived tired but not exhausted. Overall, reasonable value - I paid $80. I still prefer direct flights but they do cost 3x more. Considering airport hassles and flight delays, Megabus is competitive if you can ride 12 hours. read more

Buyer beware - Megabus uses non-Megabus branded vehicles for their network. They will not inform you of that however in the ticket you purchased. Their drivers will not exit the bus and do a last call to inform people that they are taking passengers with Megabus tickets (which is their duty upon arriving at a bus station). They will also not give a refund under any circumstances even though they failed to notify that the vehicle used would have another companies name written all over it. I have taken Megabus before and it was a fantastic 5 star service. The bus they used said Megabus all over it. This is an error on their part and they are too stubborn to refund something they didn't inform the customer of. If they are so willingly obtuse I can't ever recommend them again. On Aug 8, 2017, the bus was scheduled to come at 6:20 but it never came, I stayed at the bus stop near the Buffalo Airport with my two kids until 8:30 pm. For my safety and my kids I had no choice to use other alternative to get home. The next day i called and i was told that my account will be credited in the next 5 business day and it's been over a month and nothing has done. I am very desapointed !!!!! Today is Oct 30th and i am still waiting, no one ever respond to my email, whenever I called they keep turning me around, no one is available to confirm my refund. When things work with Megabus they work very well, service is fast, buses are comfortable, the drivers competent, but as soon as you need customer service things become very disagreeable very quickly. I have seen customer service people berate clients who brought a second suitcase and were willing to pay the additional fee. Their website allows registrations but the pop-up calendar (very small font, grey on white text), unlike every other pop-up calendar out there (I am a web developer building e-commerce systems) starts on a Monday. If you make the mistake of reserving on the wrong day and call them right away to fix it they cite policies, talk down to you, do everything to get that additional reservation change of around $5. This is unfortunate. With just slightly better customer service I'd take VIA less often and Megabus more often. But the attitude that the customer is always wrong is highly grating. For that reason alone (being berated by customer service and being talked down to, which is highly un-Canadian, and which would be so easy to fix with a bit of agent training) this company will never earn my loyalty or goodwill. I understand this is a discount service. But why have the expense of customer service at all when the whole purpose is to be aggressively disagreeable with customers ? It looks like an investment in staff to reduce customer loyalty & goodwill. Either just cut it off completely and save money or build a service line with the purpose or boosting your overall revenues over the whole lifetime of the customer relationship. Here would have been a better answer: "I'll let our web staff know of the concern. I cannot change the reservation for you at the moment but I can give you a voucher against future trips for the same value." Results: 1) a client who feels listened to, and 2) a guaranteed future sale to use that voucher. read more

I am new Yelp and I decided to check out Megabus reviews. I'm actually astonished by all these terrible reviews. I've been using Megabus for a few years and although there is the occasional delay, I feel that they're all reasonable (snowstorms, accidents, traffic, construction, long holiday weekend with busy 401) I usually take the 6pm leaving from Montreal (Avoid the 5pm bus to Toronto if you're going downtown, it is NOT a direct trip, the 5pm makes about 5-6 stops along the 401 before arriving in Toronto) and the 6:30/7:30am leaving from Toronto. When there is something going on at the Bell Center (practically right next door to their new location - 997 Saint Antoine West in Montreal) it's a little difficult to get out of the city but obviously that's out of their control. Some bus drivers will try to take an alternative route but being someone who's from Montreal... You can never escape traffic lol The Toronto bus at 7:30am is by far my favorite. However please be aware that it does make a stop in Cornwall and Kirkland before arriving in Montreal. Nonetheless, our scheduled arrival is 1:50pm and sometimes we get there a little earlier depending on the weather conditions and traffic. Montreal terminal is a little small, considering there's nothing IN the actually terminal. But if you go upstairs, where the skating rink is, there is a little foodcourt and also the train station is close by with a convenient store, McDonald's and Tim-Hortons. I would just recommend getting your snacks/water beforehand. Unlike Toronto, the line is made INSIDE & Trust me, if it's -40 outside, you really appreciate this. When they're ready to board, one of the employees will come to call out your departure time and open the gate. There's not a lot of seats available so the young lady at the counter usually tries to get everyone to move forward in the line so all the seats can be used. She also makes speeches (I guess they don't have a recorded message or PA system) when/if the bus is delayed for some reason (usually traffic due to the bell center or rush hour, lol) Toronto is right in the heart of downtown. It's close to everything. It's really convenient. However it's really busy, considering they have greyhound there as well. The first time I went, I wasn't sure where to wait in line. The line is actually outside at one of the gates. When it's cold... You obviously prefer to wait inside and when you see they're starting to board, you run outside so you're not the last to board lol Most of the bus drivers will tell you the stops on the intercom/microphone and also mention that there is no break at Kingston. Sometimes you can stretch your legs but I noticed that the time spent there is mostly for the drivers to change shifts. I've seen people running after the bus because they decided to go to Tim Hortons down the street, you really don't have the time. Make sure you have everything with you before traveling. As for wifi, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't really go on the bus for the wifi so I can't complain about it. I just use Megabus as a way of getting from point A to point B at a pretty cheap rate (buy your tickets in advance, if you buy last minute, it's almost double the price) - It's the fastest and cheapest rate to get to Toronto since Greyhound goes by Ottawa and Via Rail isn't always affordable. In all, I had to give them a 5-star because I've never had a problem with employees, they're always very kind and accommodating. One of the employees, a tall young man, even helped me bring my suitcases to the bus (I had two. SIDENOTE - you have to pay for your extra suitcase, since you're only permitted one of 50lbs) Their transportation is affordable despite the wifi and delays. I hope this new review allows customers to be a little more understanding of the Megabus policies and also the road conditions when traveling. read more

Booked at the beginning of April for a Toronto-Montreal August round trip. Ticket was just over $40 after tax. What a bargain! Wi-fi was slow, and YouTube was blocked, but I prepared for this possibility and watched some movies instead. Note that for the Toronto-Montreal route, there is only one stop in Kingston, and if the bus is late, they won't give you any rest time. The bus doesn't stop at any of the ONroute service stations on the 401. People who are complaining about the cramped space and amenities are too entitled. You get what you pay for! Some of us just want to travel for the lowest price possible. If you want comfort, pay up. read more

Pissed. Toronto to Montreal bus at 5pm on Friday. Made an impromptu stop in Scarborough, which no one told us about, and we were late getting to Kingston. Someone waiting in Kingston to board complained and the driver rudely told her that this bus is always late and to take the bus at a different time if she wanted to be on time. How about not lying about transit times on your website if a trip is "always" a certain way? Driver also did not tell us how long we were going to be stopped in Kingston, and then disappeared. My friend and I wasted time trying to find someone who had information, and when we finally did, he was very rude to us and told us 5 minutes. So: drivers were rude, didn't have time to go to the washroom or get anything to eat, price wasn't great, and we are late. Oh, and the WiFi doesn't work. Two stars because it gets us to where we want to go, the outlets work and it's pretty clean. read more

Once you have it you will have to deal with an awful customer service, and you won't even say this customer service really exist in Canada as a big country. Took Megabus from Toronto (Central Bus Terminal) to Niagara Falls (Fallsview) Bus left on time, driver was quite nice. Wifi looked connected but could never connect to anything on the entire trip, ended up using my cell phone data plan. Others on bus said same. Power outlets did not work either. On return trip (10:0PM) bus was 20 minutes late arriving and 25 minutes late leaving. Called Megabus and they had no information. When bus arrived it was not a Megabus bus, it was a single decker Coach Canada bus. No wifi at all and seat power outlets not working. Called Megabus Monday. They said I would have to talk to customer service which did not open until 9:00AM. Called after 9 off and on all day and got busy signal all day. When i finally got through I got voice mail. I left my name and number and reason for my call. As of Wednesday morning still no return call. Called again, got customer service. First thing they said is I had to contact Coach Canada.. I told them i bought my tickets from them not Coach Canada. Then they said they could nothing and that I had to email a special email address and file a complaint. I ask what that would do. They said they would send it to operations and investigate. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told a supervisor would tell me the same thing. Here is the thing: I could have gone on the GO Train connecting to a GO bus. They do not have wifi or power outlets but they are $15 less. So Megabus advertises service they don't provide and cover them selves on their web page stating no refunds if wifi does not work. WE DON'T CARE... WE DON'T HAVE TO I will not be taking Megabus again. read more

The woman working the ticket counter literally saved Father's Day. I got to the bus station at 610 Bay St. at about 8:35am for a 9:15 Greyhound Bus that was sold out! Who figured so many people would be going to Buffalo that early on a Sunday? Anyway, the Greyhound agent told me to try Megabus, and the lady working the ticket booth was so insanely competent and helpful and totally helped me out -- she let me use her phone because mine wasn't working, and made sure I wrote down the reservation number, and was just generally really nice and pleasant, and on top of everything. So I got to Buffalo in time for Father's Day instead of having to wait for the 11am Greyhound and I was super grateful :) Oh, and the bus was fine and clean and timely and everything else was problem free. read more

I've taken megabus to New York, Buffalo Airport and Niagara Falls from Toronto and while their rates are incredible (assuming you find them) the longer rides (to New York) can be an arduous one. You really should know what sort of experience you're in for and be prepared for an hour or 2 delay thanks to border traffic (once I was there for nearly an hour thanks to some passengers having trouble with immigration). The travel experience I would say is a 2 star experience, but thanks to weak but more-reliable-than-not free wifi and cheap tickets I give them 3.5 stars. A problem which megabus can't really help is that most people that take this bus overnight are not in good moods (unless you happen to catch a lucky break and sit next to people that are respectful of your space and silence), and as a result the overall atmosphere is pretty bleak. The seats are OK, you have a decent amount of leg room, all seats have power points but then again, they were not very reliable and leg room is nothing to boast about too much but it's more or less the standard. The ride to Buffalo and Buffalo Airport is pretty reliable in terms of timing getting there, but coming back to Toronto I had to deal with it being delayed by around 45 minutes once (but only 10minutes the other time). The drivers could definitely be friendlier, but I understand their frustration if they have to keep dealing with customers that are clueless when it comes to crossing the border, so do yourself, the driver and the fellow passengers all a favour and know in advance what you need and what's not allowed to cross the border. I would always look for megabus as my first choice if I have to take a bus ride, but for a trip to NYC, I would seriously consider flying despite the almost 10 fold increase in price (and the fact that you save yourself 10 or 11 hours by flying). read more

BUYER BEWARE I booked 6 tickets with Mega bus on July 5, 2016 for a trip Montreal, Quebec on July 15, 2016. Sadly one of my close friends father suffer a heart attack a few hours ago and she is currently flying to Jamaica to be by his side. So a call Mega bus to explain my situation and to find out what options I had. They advised that my best option would be to trade them in for a credit which I could apply to another reservation. BUT what they failed to mention was that you MUST book any and all reservation at the time of the trade in. ALSO any remaining credit can NOT be carried over and will be FORFEITED. BUT WAIT that's not all, they will also CHARGE you a $2 booking fee and a $5 trade in fee that will NOT be taken out of any remaining credit you may have before it's FORFEITED. So here's the math, I initially paid $355.13 for the 6 thickets, when I attempted trade them in their value drop $352.87 for some reason. So I have credit of $352.87 to put towards the reservation(s) and since I can't think of any further reservations I may want to book(Nor would I want to book with Mega bus again) I only booked 4 thickets this time. The total for that was 292.52(Including Taxes) with leaves a LOSS of $60.35 BUT WAIT let's not forget to add the $7 in charges they won't take out of that remaining $60.32 credit. So TOTAL LOSS is $67.32. One last thing I think anybody considering booking with Mega bus should know is that there customer service is horrible. When I couldn't figure out why I was being billed $7 when I had a remaining credit of $60.32 I call their customer service again. I was greeting by Sandra who you could tell wasn't have a good day be the tone of her voice. Also when I was trying to ask question about my mentioned query above she kept over talking me. So already being upset about the news of my friends father I asked to speak with her supervisor as I could no longer put up with her disrespectful tone and mid sentence interruptions. The response I got was she laughed and said she not here right now and supervisor only work from 9am-5pm. So hopefully my horrible experience saves some else from making the mistake of booking with Mega bus. Also I found out that Greyhound would have been cheaper and being the well establish company they are probably would have show me bit more compassion and better customer service.
