Very poor customer service. That lady inside the Megabus cubicle was so rude. I didn't get her name but she is an African woman. I asked for an assistance coz I didn't hear my bus number getting called and I literally arrived 30 mins early to make sure I do not miss it. I came to her at exactly 4:31 to check how come my bus wasn't called yet and she said just wait for Niagara to get called. It turned out that the ones doing the announcement were people working for Greyhound, and the terminal was packed. The staffs are very disorganized. I came back to her at the megabus counter if she can double check from her system if my bus already left (not sur coz the terminal is packed and I can see the staffs are panicking and stressed) or maybe the bus is just delayed. Not a smile on her face and she told me she can't do anything. She cannot check in the system. Like what can you do then? Sit on that chair? Megabus should start hiring staff who want to do this type of job. She is obviously unhappy and very incompetent. megabus absolutely sucks. i was supposed to depart at 2:30. I didn't get onto the bus until 3:20 and there was so no telling us what was going on. The employees themselves looked confused themselves. they havent said anything about what the issues was and if we will get refund, etc. I should've just taken the Go train, it's more reliable and has more respect their customers. I have a disability and they didn't even try to accommodate my needs. Rude person on the phone. I just needed to board the bus at a closer location to my house (same bus, same city, with my already purchased ticket), lady said "there's nothing I can do, bye". I walk with a cane and a service dog, not easy for me to go to the other boarding location, and I was never asked where I wanted to board the bus, only the city. read more

This bus company is a complete MESS and I'm very unsatisfied with the service provided. I decided to ride with mega bus from Whitby to Montreal on 7 January and while I waited on my 8:50 megabus , I see a couch Canada bus come and go ... interesting right ‍. But no this ridiculous bus service was actually using couch Canada buses ! This is also my first and last time using this service . Nowhere on their website was that noted ! Absolutely unbelievable. And they didn't even provide any compensation for their lack of communication and organization. Not the mention the useless customer service representatives I had the displeasure of speaking to that provided nothing close to a suitable solution. If I were you, I would go to greyhound or via rail and spend the extra money because ateast you'll get what you pay for with proper communication. Our bus driver was GREAT. I did pay the extra few dollars for the first seat upfront next to the driver. Can't complain one bit, the views were awesome. It's a reliable, comfortable ride, and I'll book it again. I enjoyed it so much, took lots of pictures. Bus to NIAGARA. I too called customer service as I was worried about reliability, they could not provide much info. but I'm really happy I took the chance & booked! It's a safe, comfortable ride. The buses are clean and well kept, the driver was fantastic! The stops were very quick, efficient, no waiting around. Like other review here yes the union station stop is at the other end of the station upstairs. There's always staff to help you find the bus depot. It's connected to the station. We headed in the right direction and it was nice to check with staff, they were awesome. Overall a really FUN ride-so worth it.. Thanks Megabus, very reliable!! My experience of Megabus was A-OK. Especially if I can land a deal for $13 from Toronto to Montreal?!! This is a better and faster option than the Greyhound as Megabus goes straight without a detour and bus change in Ottawa. I was lucky as both times I travelled the bus was half full so I don't have to sit next to anyone. Though just like taking any public transportation, there would be passenger that talked on their phone loudly for hours, coughed all the way through the ride.. I took the overnight bus from Toronto to NYC (12 hour trip total). Cost me $70 total with a reserved seat. The best thing to say about Megabus is you get what you pay for. I'm in a long distance relationship and my wallet needed a bit of a breather from all the round trip flights I take back and forth, so I thought I would experiment and take the bus. It also drops you off a few blocks from Penn; perfect if you need to get anywhere in the city or hop on NJ Transit (which I did). Overall, the seats were comfy (I paid extra for a reserve spot with a table-- highly recommend!!) and there were no issues. Obviously, even with the mandatory stops, my butt & legs hurt and I didn't really sleep as planned because... well, I was on a bus for 12 hours. I didn't expect to sleep the entire time! Haha. Only real cons: wifi didn't work most of the time (no biggie, just make sure you have things downloaded before hand) and the border was rough. Border is NEVER FUN when you're on a bus. They have to unload all the luggage so you can carry it into customs with you, and our driver was also really slow to remove our luggage and left us sitting on a turned off, stuffy bus for 45 minutes while we watched him remove 75 suitcases one by one. I'm claustrophobic and a little bit of panicking started after a while. He was pretty grumpy so I genuinely feel like he was doing this to toy with us. He even sauntered to the bathroom in the middle of unloading! Not very fun at 2:30 am. We were at the border for 2 hours. read more

I've taken megabus quite a few times to head to Montreal. It's pretty convenient....all you have to do is enjoy the ride and take it straight to wherever you need to go. But of course...there's its pros and cons... Pros: 1. You don't drive. 2. They offer free wifi (but not in all cases). 3. They have a power outlet at each seat (but they don't always work). 4. They offer different travel times that best suit your needs/preferences. 5. It's comfortable-ish (maybe not so much if you're a tall person). 6. You can pay extra for better seats (but is this really a pro?) 7. Each bus has a washroom. 8. You can bring food. Cons: 1. As mentioned above, not all busses will have wifi. 2. Again, as mentioned above, not all outlets on the bus will work. 3. You're forced to sit close to people (I could go on forever with this one). Buses will usually be full. 4. Prices have gone up since I've taken it. I just recently paid about $75 for a round trip (Toronto - Montreal)!! I used to pay no more than $45-50. I guess the pros outweigh the cons but it's all preference. Personally I don't mind it. If I'm traveling alone, it's nice to be able to catch up on work, read a book or sleep! It just sucks that prices have gone up and will probably keep going up not sure how much more I'll be willing to pay. read more

Megabus is the worst company ever, and seriously they would not refund mine and my friends money, they were very disrespectful towards my friend because she has a medical condition and they forced her to wear a mask therefore violating the bylaws of the city of toronto. They cancelled the tickets and really messed everything up. My friends and I took go transit to Niagara Falls. I am planning to file a claim against this company Because we did not take the bus. I took the megabus from Toronto to Montreal on Sept 2. The Scarborough Town Centre bus station was so hard to find (no signs anywhere) that I thought I was going to miss the 6pm bus (the last bus to Montreal). The bus was late by 1/2 hour (6:30pm departure). In Kingston the bus driver left the bus with all the passengers inside and told us that we need to wait for another bus driver to drive us to Montreal. That driver was late by ONE hour and then took a break. We were supposed to arrive in Montreal by midnight but we ended up arriving at 1:30am. It was such a horrible experience that I will NEVER take megabus again. You are better off to take VIA Train! read more

Toronto to Niagara Falls- No outlet plugs. No WiF like they promote on the website, disappointed. Not the actual "MegaBus" bus. Just a "Coach Bus". Was confused on which one to go on for the first 7 min until we asked. Was exactly on time with leaving terminal. There were two stops before we got to our destination. On the way back (Niagara Falls to Toronto), actually early departure and it was an express one (some how) so no stops in between. Ride departs were either on time or early arrivals. Pretty decent leg room, was surprised. Loud from engine. Air/heat was comfortable. Windows don't have shades in case you want to block the sun. read more

I am a frequent rider of the mega bus, and every time I book a ticked at arrive to the platform I'm left wondering "why did I book with them again." 3/4 of the times I've taken the bus our departure has been delayed for 15 minutes or more without explanation. They advertise as having wifi on the bus, which is true. But don't expect to be able to use it for anything as it take several minutes to load a single webpage. The only reason I use mega bus is the price point and convenience. Most boarding passes average around 15-21 dollars. And depending on the departure time, they can be as cheap as $10. So buyers be warned, you will get what you are paying for. read more

My boyfriend and I took the bus to Montreal and back, trying to save a little money as we were taking an expensive sleeper car train to Halifax and back. On the way there, we almost missed our train as the bus was 95minutes late. We're on our trip home right now and we're already over an hour late. Who knows how long this trip will last? Maybe forever. Apparently these delays are par for the course, to the point that the driver announced as we got on that we would be arriving at least a half hour to 45minutes late! I have a suggestion: if you're always an hour "late" change your arrival time on the ticket so people can make an informed decision. Also, though they claim to have WiFi, and your device will say you're signed in, it doesn't work. I ended up using my own cellular data. The bathroom was gross too but I kind of expected that so there was nothing shocking there. Never, never again will I do this to myself. I would rather spend 15 hours on an airplane than 5 hours on a Megabus and that is saying a lot. They get 2 stars because I did start in one city and end up in another and it was the cheapest way so I guess they accomplished something. Blech. Never, ever again read more

AC is extremely cold. Always bring thick sweaters or winter jackets no matter how hot it is outside, even in July or August. Their AC is extremely strong and cold. Specifically, the ac design on the bus is problematic, that for most aisle seats on the second floor, the cold wind from ac will directly blow to the seats and there's no way to turn the directions. Suffer from freezing for 5-7 hours on trips between NYC and Boston, I got cold several times. read more

My 73 year old Grandmother recently traveled from Montreal to Toronto, the bus was supposed to arrive at 11 pm but arrived after 1 am. She complained that the bus made an extended stop in Kingston 30 min and did not allow passengers off for the bathroom or to get air or a snack. When she arrived at her destination she asked the bus driver for help to get her luggage (as she has accessibility issues) his response was "Get it yourself" whats more appalling is the dismissive response i got from customer service after emailing them the complaint. The email was written on my grandmothers behalf but i was sent a generic response half hardheartedly apologizing for the bad service i received, this demonstrated to me that they didn't even take the time to properly read the email. company should be called MegaBadService read more

I booked my tickets online to get to Niagara Falls from downtown Toronto. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes early as suggested. Due to my Uber driver, I barely made it before the departure time and was the last one to board. There was no wifi or outlets, which sucked but isn't a deal breaker. Total trip was about two hours. The only reason I took Megabus was that it use to stop at Fairmount Hotel and it no longer stops and I had to take a taxi back from the terminal to the hotel. Won't bother to take that again. Megabus is great if you are looking to go somewhere cheep and fast. Every time I take Megabus, they are on time and loading and unloading is really fast and efficient since time is money for them of course. The seats are comfortable with good leg room with exception for the front window seats on the upper floor of the double decker. The free WiFi is reliable on most coaches. Don't be late for your bus or you will need to pay again for a ticket to get on another bus. If there is a stop to let people off or to pick up new passengers and you need to get off to have a cigarette or stretch your legs, don't let the bus out of your sight. Absolutely terrible company with abysmal service. Tried to rebook a ticket and the company refused to explain to me their exchange policy. Ended up losing out on $129.00 due to their refusal to answer my questions, despite speaking with three separate agents. No one was able to answer my SIMPLE question regarding rebooking and credit. Do not book here if you think there is a chance you might amend your ticket (time, date, location etc.), as ultimately it will be ineffective and just cause a scam of money. Would not recommend, and would highly encourage this company to invest the money they are pocketing from me, and several other customers, into sharpening their customer service skills. read more

Not sure why everyone's complaining. You pay for bus service but you're expecting limo service. I took this from Toronto to Montreal. Last I checked, buses don't defy city traffic which is the reason why the bus is late sometimes. Anyways, the buses are clean and there's ample space. Wifi is shotty so bring something to keep you busy. My seat had no USB charging port if that matters to anyone. If you are leaving or arriving during rush hour, expect to be late. If these things matter for you, I would suggest you find an alternative but there won't be anything as cheap as Megabus to Montreal. The bus quality is similar to GO transit buses. p.s. Ok. so, I'm on a Megabus right now and I want to jump out the window. I've taken megabus from TO to NYC and back on a bunch of occasions and if it weren't for the low price, I'd probably have gone nuts and killed somebody by now. The wifi has never once worked during all my trips (still trying to figure out how they can justify advertising this as a feature), outlets are unreliable also, they are totally incapable of regulating the temperature on the bus, especially in the summer. I always have to bring a change of clothes because its either blaring a/c and super cold, or it's an oven, with 100 bodies slowly baking inside. On the way down to NYC two of my male friends got sick (a cold) because the bus was so cold (so it's not a "girls are always cold" thing), and this trip, I've literally had to strip down to shorts and a sports bra because Its soooo hot. There is actually hot air coming out of the vents above us and we're in the middle of a heat wave outside. Like WTF?! I've already told the bus driver how hot it is upstairs twice, and got a/c for a little bit... but because they keep switching drivers at every stop, it's soon piping hot in here again, and air quality is horrible. Since wifi doesn't work, I've actually turned on my roaming data just to submit this review because its *that* terrible... I had to make sure you knew. :P read more

Thanks but no thanks! If you can drive do not even think of this as an option! Waste of time mostly. Money who cares you would spend the same driving yourself to buffalo, or just taking the flight out from Toronto. The drivers dont even tell you that for a mega bus back into Toronto you can actually get on ANY bus from the airport that has space because they all go to the Terminal. There is NO bus that goes to the airport that picks up people to go to the Terminal. I WONDER WHY no one tells anyone this...The bus shelter is a joke. There is no shade available. You can't really leave either because you might miss the bus. Finally when the bus driver noticed how burnt we looked he said in order for us to "connect" to where we wanted to go we would have to go to the Terminal. Its a pain I don't expect high class service like my bags being put underneath for me, I can do it myself but please encourage your bus patrons to sit the hell down so people can move in and figure out weather or not the seat is available or not. I paid for a seat so please also tell your patrons to not occupy a whole row for their legs and bags. Unless there is a new bag and body part fee i'm unaware of. Sign me up! Honestly on paper it seems like a great idea ohh I can save x amount of dollars because one trip will be $1 back or whatever.. But the hassle like others have mention about the immigration will annoy you. Took the 6:30 Megabus from Toronto to Montreal on a Saturday morning. The ride from Toronto to Kingston was smooth and generally an okay ride once we got started. Once we left Kingston and switched drives, we began going far slower, and arrived in Montreal later than our expected arrival time, even though there was no traffic on the road or poor weather conditions at all. The tables on the buses are tiny, so don't expect to be able to set up a laptop or get too much work done on it - even the seats with tables that require a $5/person reservation fee. Most people choose to sit upstairs; there is a washroom downstairs, but also fewer seats. The wifi was not reliable, so don't go on with a full expectation of surfing the internet the entire time. For the price of around $120 for 3 tickets booked a week or two before, I'd say it was an okay deal. read more

Megabus is awful. It's cramped (more cramped than Greyhound) and the buses I took were always very LOUD. The drivers on Greyhound usually say something before the trip if it's overnight about keeping quiet for people who want to sleep (like me!) but they didn't on Megabus. The PA was SO LOUD it woke me up and startled me a lot. It was much, much louder than it needed to be. About twice as loud as Greyhound's. The prices are good; can be higher or lower than Greyhound depending on the trip. One thing I do have to say about Megabus that's positive: I screwed up pretty badly once, and missed my bus (NYC - Toronto) because I messed up the time. Completely my fault. I didn't know what to do, so I talked to a Megabus employee at the "station" (roadside where they pick you up in NYC) and he said I could get on the next bus for $5 cash if there's room. I looked online and I guess this is legitimately their policy? Sure enough, I got on the next bus. I was very relieved, grateful and appreciative. But seriously, turn down your PA. read more

I've taken Megabus on average about 3 times a year for years, ever since it started up in Toronto. The only reason I continue is the cheap price. I've had so many bad experiences I've often thought I should write about them, but usually prefer to forget about them as quickly as possible. Sometimes the ride is ok, straightforward, relatively on time, no problems. But the number of times it's been inconvenient or an outright nightmare outweigh those times. First off, the bus is almost always significantly late. This may be partly due to the fact that I usually take it to the States and there's always at least an hour delay at the border (not really Megabus' fault, but should be taken into account when estimating arrival times). If the bus is full and there's a lot of traffic, which happens at holidays, I've spent up to four hours at the border. However, coming back even before crossing the border, the bus from New York City is almost always late. There are frequent bus mechanical problems and breakdowns. The last two trips I took with Megabus, 3 months apart, both times the bus broke down and we had to wait half an hour for another bus to show up. It's happened several times in the past as well. The WiFi NEVER works. I have never once successfully managed to surf the internet using Megabus WiFi. I don't understand why they continue to advertise it. The climate inside the bus is often too hot or too cold, and when you complain to the driver, he says it's fixed and he can't do anything about it. Last year on my way to the States at Christmastime we were stuck at the border, the bus was absolutely jam-packed full, and it was so swelteringly hot and stuffy that it was difficult to breathe. A lady opened the emergency exit in the roof to get us some air, and got yelled at by the driver. Other times it's so cold you have to keep your jacket on. If you lose something on the bus, forget it. They tell you they do a thorough search, but I frankly don't believe it. Given the level of (non)-customer service I've experienced in other aspects, I can't imagine it's true. They have always told me they can't find my item, which may be true, but I am not convinced due diligence is done. Bottom line, I take the Megabus because it's the cheapest option for getting to upstate New York where my family lives, but it's always a hassle and a headache. It would be great if Megabus improved the experience, or if there was an equally cheap but nicer option. read more

I took the bus with my friend from Toronto to Washington . The ride was 14 hours and we made it there when we were promised the bus didn't run late , it doesn't matter when you are traveling summer or winter the bus AC is blasting on high it's freezing on the inside but if you have a blanket you should be fine , the wifi does not work properly and you can't stream on it ! Thank god for plugs to charge your devices cause otherwise you be so bored they do not show a movie or anything on the bus so make sure to bring entertainment with your selfs . We took the Megabus from Washington, DC to Toronto and the ride was just perfect. It's cheaper than the other and we suffered no delays (we even arrive too early). The Wifi wasn't working that well but it was ok (it just works in the USA). The power outlets were not all working but we had also USB ports which were sufficient to charge our smartphones. The place for the legs could be too small for tall people but it was ok for us. So nothing to complain about. read more

Traveled from Toronto to Philadelphia. The bus made 2 unannounced stops and arrived 2 hours later than scheduled. This resulted in me missing the event I planned to attend. No explanation or apology was provided. Just a rude, careless driver and a customer service policy that doesn't make any promises of reliability. I will never use Megabus again! Used them twice. WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICE. False advertising on both trips: We were 40 min late with the first trip. Passengers were transferred from the double decker to the regular, dirty, loud, uncomfortable, crowded bus. My knees were in my chest. No wifi Called customer care, she said she is sorry. :/ no compensation. They do advertise double deck buses and wifi but no guarantee. It took 7 days to respond back to 18 of my phone calls.
