Great prices. The earlier you buy, the cheaper. Seating arrangements for the standard seats are cramped as expected. I'll try the upgraded seats next time. The drivers seem miserable. It'd be nice if Megabus would hire someone to help the driver loading/unloading the suitcases on the bus, especially on packed trips such as the one I took from Montreal to Toronto. I felt like customers were treated like cattle. My experiences with Greyhound were better but I'll definitely use Megabus again. read more

If I could, I would give it 0 stars. The entire operation is a cluster. The seats are anything but mega. Very small. I'm 5'6 and my knees touched the seat in front and when the person in front reclined it they were literally on my lap. The check in process was horrible. Blood on the walls of the bathroom. Twice I have put my luggage underneath with the intention of it going to Syracuse with me. Once it was taken off by the bus driver in Rochester, with approximately 1000 dollars of stuff lost. Went back and forth with their head office for a shred of compensation and nothing. A year later took it again for economical reasons. Same bus driver. Sat by the window to make sure he didn't take my luggage out in Rochester. Yet again, he did. I ran off the bus to tell him to put it back on. I had even written "SYRACUSE TO TORONTO" on the suitcase itself with paint so he'd get the hint, and he noticed it before. Never travel with this company again. Did you know that there have been numerous accidents with their double decker buses and people getting crushed to death because the driver ignored underpass signs with a height limit? Yeah. Okay I've been taking Megabus a whole lot, my review is based on trips from Toronto to Buffalo, New York City, Rochester, Montreal and vice versa. If you book usually 2 weeks or in advance you can get a better price. The bus schedules are very consistent. It comes right at the expected time if not late 10-15 minutes. One Pro Tip is the bus always leaves on time. So even if you are late by 1-2 minutes the bus will go so place accordingly to be not late. If busses are missed you would need to buy your ticket again for the next bus. The original bus ticket is reserved for that time frame. After experiencing that issue i didn't know that policy and many passengers didn't know either don't think you can just take the next bus and show your old ticket. You need to immediately book your ticket as they could or have already sell out fast. The drivers are very friendly one note is the drivers within USA are more entertaining all of them they are loving their jobs and that is what i like to see that i am in good hands when on the road for 3+ hours.The seats on the MegaBus the two tier floor bus is comfortable great leg room, they have outlet and usb charges at each seating row. Its either under the seat or above you. The Free WiFi was consistent one note is the Free WiFi had excellent connection while on road in the USA, When back in Canada the free WiFi was very spotty hardly no connection so be aware of this. Now if you are boarding the Coach Canada by MegaBus there is no Free WiFi, the seating is not as comfortable to Megabus 2tier floor. Overall its not as comfortable so be sure you are taking the 2 tier floor one for best experience. The bus trips to Buffalo and New York City trips i find the bus is usually half empty so you can usually claim a row to yourself!!! The Montreal Trips are usually fully booked. I usually book my tickets online be sure to bring a hardcopy, Passport if going USA, earplugs for bus noise and if need sleep the eye sleeping patch thingie to block light. Overall i had great positive experiences when taking Mega Bus from driver to bus cleanliness it was positive. read more

Megabus Toronto to Montreal: I am travelling to Montreal from Toronto on Megabus. There are no electical sockets in the bus for a 6 hours journey. The bus stopped at Kingston to drop off some passengers and left the stop without a single announcement. We were told before that it was going to be a 5 min stop and passengers could use washrooms. But bus left in 2 minutes leaving people running behind it. It could have easily accomodated with people running for the bus. They have paid full fair and their luggage is still inside the bus. What a pathetic service! I would not recommend this bus service to anyone. Pay $50 more and travel with greyhound/via rail. read more

We took MegaBus Toronto-Montreal on Oct 5. Very nice trip in a MegaBus equipped with all the amenities advertised in the website. The coming back from Montreal was a very different story = The trip from Hell. After lining up for 30 mins. we were ushered to a chartered bus (Franklin) (NOT a MegaBus). NO explanation was given. The bus had no seatbelts, no second floor....After arriving in Kingston, we were told to move to another chartered bus (GoBus) no explanation for the change. This bus had no seatbelts & no washroom. The bus stopped in Pickering, no announcement was made, we just guessed the driver was changed. Finally we arrive in Toronto at 22:00pm, (original time of arrival was 20:45 pm). A trip like this is not even worth the $10 fare they advertise!!!! read more

Firstly, if you're at the Toronto outpost, don't let the assistants take your bag. They're reckless and careless with your things. The guy who handled our bags that day (6/21) ripped the handle clean off one, and didn't even apologize or take a moment to help us gather the things that spilled to the ground as a result. Seriously - he just walked away, no words! He was a younger, millennial type no doubt devoid of manners or customer service experience, but that's no excuse. On the road, our driver was right up the backs of countless civilian vehicles on a wet and slippery freeway at numerous points - something my girl and I witnessed tensely as we sat by the front on the second level. It was raining - SLOW DOWN! If you're ever in Montreal, check out the stop light where Viger ends at Robert Bourassa. Our driver tore off the traffic signal cover over the lights, clean off, as he drove too close to the curb. 2 days later, I read an article that a Megabus collided with a truck on the highway in eastern Ontario - and frankly I was thankful it wasn't the bus I was just on 2 nights earlier, on the same exact route. Now, I admittedly don't know the circumstances of the crash I read about, but if the skills of the driver we had could be any allusion - I wouldn't be surprised. The driver's announcements of destinations were also curt and unintelligible. His manners to passengers asking simple questions were rude and insincere, as if he were annoyed or agitated. You don't even want to ask a question to a guy like that. We arrived in Montreal alive. That's as much as I can say. The lack of leg room is near torturous because I'm not five. They skipped the safety video, because, who needs safety? These guys are rude, and nearly destructive in their driving habits. They better start buckling down on these drivers and their road ethics before tragedies accumulate at their hand. read more

Something got mixed up when I booked online and I ended up with an incorrect departure date. I called in immediately to sort it out, and the customer service was just the most defeating sort of interaction. I ended up having to pay half again the price of the ticket just to sort it all out. A week ago, it was a round trip Montreal-Toronto, leaving Friday 6:30am morning. The first ride was fairly good and does a quick stop in front of a depanneur in Kirkland and another stop in Kingston to pick up more passengers for Toronto. There's no wifi like they advertise but it didn't bother me since I was sleeping my way through the trip. The return Sunday 12:30pm however wasn't that good. I had a second floor seat and I noticed it was a ceiling glass. It was a sunny day and it was hot. To make the trip less comfortable, the heater on the side was turned on. I politely asked the driver to turned it off but he said the heater switch was out of order. I had to put something to cover it so that the heat doesn't come out. Otherwise, my leg would have been cooked. I wouldn't imagine myself traveling with Megabus during summer. read more

this bus absolutely sucks... so unsatisfied. i was amazed by the cheap prices but when i got on the bus i realized why it was so cheap. i've ridden on this bus a few times and all of those times i've had a bad experience. first off, the bus is usually more than an hour late. on top of that there is never wifi. And the workers... i can't explain how rude they are. the customer service also sucks. you can get a refund and they make it hard to change the date. I have travelled with Megabus before, and my comments are much the same as everyone else here. However, I had a very negative experience with their customer service. A medical situation that I could prove occurred and made it impossible for me to travel in the foreseeable future. Megabus would not budge from their no refund or credit policy. Similar experiences with other carriers were quite different. I will consider other carriers in the future. read more

Just received an Email from Megabus Canada and they don't care about people who are Allergic to Peanuts like I am. They care more about money than a persons safety been allergic to peanuts. Guess it comes down to the mighty dollar for that company. During my trip back home from Toronto people started to eat peanuts. Thank goodness I took my meds, but my allergies started and had to leave the bus for air. Looks like I won't be able to take the bus anymore. It's a shame that no one cares anymore about a persons allergies. One day someone will pass away due to been allergic to peanuts on the bus, but they won't care. I hope this opens peoples eyes about companies like this. read more

3 or 4 stars? I discovered Megabus a few months ago and I've been using them regularly for my Montreal to Toronto commute. I found it equal to the gas i would be spending and the service is good and on time. I am happy with the service and the condition of the buses but i have not sat downstairs. On the second deck i have used reserve and general coach and by personal experience i would say row 1 is not the best seats because there is no leg room. Every seat i have sat in had functioning power outlets. There is a small stopover in Kinston to change drivers. I have seen some people run to Tim Horton's and back. I have not tried this. Honestly i would just pack a few sandwiches and a water bottle and make sure you have some music and movies down loaded on your laptop or tablet and not count on the wifi. Honestly for a $50 dollar round trip the service is quite good and I am happy to keep travelling on Megabus. read more

Worst buses with no AC working. I am enroute to Montreal from Toronto in 21C. Bus full of passengers and no AC leads to suffocation.

This service is beyond poor all it advertised is NOT true. I had my 80 year old mother take Megabus bus from Toronto Yorkdale to Kingston today and as I put her on realized they made 4 stops nowhere on the website does it say it is not a direct route I was most upset as this would be confusing to her and I think it is very unethical not to be clear about the route as well as not being able to buy a seniors ticket on line it only gave me one price! Because of this experience she will NOT ever be taking a Megabus to and from her required location again! The driver was nice so that is why it has one Star, also the bus itself was small old, noisy and worn out. Nothing clean or modern about it! read more

Took the bus from Toronto to Montreal on March 16 2014. Outside it was at least -16 degrees Celsius. I sat on the upper deck first seat besides the window hoping i could enjoy the view while it was still light outside. 1) the heating was turned off for most of the trip unless for a few minutes when the lady besides me went to complain. My knees and feet were frozen the entire trip and kept my winter coat on all along. 2) because of this the front window was frozen, couldn't see anything outside 3) wifi wasn't working so i decided to watch a show on my laptop until i ran out of battery and had no plug besides me 4) my other option was to catch up on reading the newspaper but the light above my head was not working. 5) once we left Kingston driver announced that we were running 30 minutes late. I paid $76 for this trip and never taking megabus again. I could've booked via for $90. Unless u get the cheap tickets for $26 and it's not winter outside, it's not worth it. read more

Okay just took Mega Bus (Toronto to Montreal) and then return (Montreal to Toronto) First thing, I was impressed they have Wi-Fi..(if they have it why cant the crappy Go Bus/Train Transit system in Toronto have Wi-Fi) on Mega Bus the Wi-Fi is average -- but who cares this is still a great service, especially if you are travelling for five hours and you do not want to run up your Data. I would not bother to pay extra for seating. (unless its the basic $1 per seat reserve) (the other option are over priced for what you get) The seats are okay, not as roomy as I would like, but you will Manage... The Drivers say little , but I did observe they drive the speed limit (at least ours did) They seem to be safe drivers. If you want to arrive ahead of schedule this works against you, as they wont speed, but Safety comes first-- As well there is no scheduled stop..you know like a road stop to take a pee and get food. however the driver , on the way home did stop (one hour before Toronto) .I was annoyed as I just wanted to get home...and then some passenger took longer than the allotted time and we had to wait (annoying and dumb) on the bus... pack your lunch...sleep... it will kill the time, if not it can get very long The Toronto bus Station is connected the Atrium -so you have MacDonald and Tim Hortons (during regular mall hours) Montreal bus station has nothing --you have to walk to --(there is a small plaza behind the bus station- i think ) summary of MegaBus Overall you get what you pay for! and its a good service.. no Real complaints! read more

Megabus is great since it is extremely cheap and exceptionally reasonable for the price. All the buses I've taken so far have run on time. My only complaints is that the Wifi is terrible, its very slow, and once a driver bothered me about the carry on bag policy. He made a huge deal over me carrying 1 extra small bag on the bus because of the carry on bag policy. It was annoying because it wasnt like the bus was full and no one was going to sit next to me anyway. So that was extremely stupid. Otherwise, megabus is great for getting to where you need to go for cheap and its a comfortable ride. read more

Okay, so I used to be a big fan of Megabus, but lately they've made me reconsider about going back to BoltBus. Thursday, Oct 30, I arrive at the bus terminal early to find out that the departure time was moved to an hour and fifteen minutes later. Of course, disappointed, I found a seat and waited. Bus arrived, passengers board, driver takes off and we get to the first corner and the engine shuts off. He restarts, we take off and get to the next stop sign and out goes the engine, again. He once again restarts the vehicle and gets underway until, you guessed it, at the traffic light, into the darkness hole we went. At this point, the driver announces that we will have to get another bus. What??? We're already late and the bus breaks down in downtown Toronto rush hour traffic? Good Grief! The new bus arrives about 30 minutes later and we all get to our destinations safely, albeit late as hell! So here's what my final "gripe" is: I believe that the bus was late because it was having challenges getting to Toronto in the first place. Would you not think that someone would make an executive decision and take the bus out of service so that there would not be a breakdown on the highway in the middle of nowhere? If Megabus is operating like this, with no apology or effort to woo their customers with an offer of appreciation and please come back deal, then why should I ride them? There are plenty of other metal carriages in the sea. So as the Rating description next to the stars says, "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

I was so excited to finally get away on a mini NYE overnight with my bestie in Stoufville Ontario. I booked my ticket on megabus, chose my window seat for the added convenience and voila, I was on my way. Got onto the bus in Kingston and someone was in my seat. Didn't want to make a big deal about it b/c I was just so excited to get away without kids grabbing at me, so I didn't say anything. Got to the Scarborough town centre and was a little thrown off...you can't have someone pick you up in the area they drop you off in b/c it's a restricted area. No elevator to upper level, I dragged my luggage.... On the way back from my trip I asked about my seat to the driver and he rudely said "this isn't the double decker bus, so there is no arranged seating, complain to the megabus company ". So I paid extra for window seats and if I didn't ask the driver I would of never knew.....So at 3 dollars a person, more than 50 ppl on the bus, and how many trips a day.....the bus company is making thousands a day without warning customers online. And so I complained. I wanted my money back. They gave me a 3 dollar voucher. Lol, are you kidding me? Megabus is the biggest scam ever. read more

I ended up stranded at the Buffalo airport for 18 hours because of Megabus. It was winter and really cold out and the bus stop is outside of the airport. I waited over an hour for the bus and it did not come so I went back into the airport because I was freezing cold. It was the middle of the night so I could not call them on the phone until they opened in the morning because they are only open to be called during working hours. When I called to say the bus never came they said that it did and it was four hours late and that I missed my bus and would have to buy another ticket. I missed a 4 hour late bus?!? I said they owed me a ride cause I waited over an hour and the bus was late. I asked to be put on the next bus with no charge. They said no and I had to keep calling back and calling back and being put on hold. When the next bus arrived I spoke with the driver but he was rude and would not let me on the bus. It took hours of calling them back until someone finally got me on another bus...18 hours later!!! On top of this I had to use my cell phone to call Megabus and my boyfriend to get help with the situation and also my friends in the U.S who had bought me my bus ticket to see if they could help and I had already used by roaming package so ended up with a huge phone bill also. The employees of Megabus were rude to me on the phone and the driver was rude to my face. I will never use their services again. I hope this message saves someone the misery I went through. read more

Bus was an hour late; the scheduled bus was cancelled after we bought the tickets and we were not notified; if you are on a schedule than this is not a company to go with, just because you don't know if they show or how late they will show up. I had 2 unfortunate interactions with their services in a row. 1) BOS - NYC they sold our business to another bus line - our bus did not have air ventilation for the whole trip. I reserved seats with my husband and this was not honoured. 2) and most aggravating. I booked a trip and needed an immediate response from their 'customer care' I called three times and left 3 urgent messages - when I called again I was told that the 'customer care department would be in meetings all day and Monday was labour day so I shouldn't expect a call back until Tuesday the next week" I explained to the customer service person my issue and her explanation was "Well I guess you will be out your money then, there is nothing we can do." My issue needed to be resolved that day or I would have been out $60 dollars. This company is profit hungry at peoples expense - not caring if they provide the services paid for. It has been 2 weeks since I should have received a callback. I have not received contact at all, nor do I believe I ever will. I suggest no one use Megabus if they expect to be treated like a human being, no less a customer. read more

Had a great trip on Megabus to Niagara Falls. The bus was half empty for part of the ride and so it was quiet and I didn't have to worry about any noisy or intrusive neighbours in the seats around me. The fare was cheap and the ride was comfortable - I guess this had something to do with the time of the trip. The drivers I found to be really nice and even recommended a good coffee shop to me at a stop. I would travel with them again and I would recommend them to a friend, not including the dozen or so I would like to take with me back to Niagara Falls on Megabus sometime in the future. I would give this company minus stars if I could. 3 out of 3 journeys have not had wifi working, and Megabus don't even care when you complain to them. They are nothing but a bunch of false advertisers that won't own up to their own faults. If you're going to advertise as having wifi available you need to make sure it works!!! Wifi is actually quite important to those visiting from overseas who are only able to use their mobile phones for free to contact people if wifi is available! 6 hours on a bus with no wifi and no 3G because I don't have a Canadian cellphone is far from enjoyable. They say they don't compensate you because it's "free". That's a load of ****. It's not FREE!! It's factored into the cost of our ticket and the point is you're now responsible for FALSE ADVERTISING if wifi is not available. Another excuse was if too many people are using the wifi for streaming videos etc, then all passengers on the bus will not be able to access wifi. Also a load of ****. You're telling me the second we leave the bus station that everyone starts streaming things so wifi isn't available? Sure it's cheap, but that's the price you pay for the worst 6 hours of your life, or more! Despite the wifi not working and Megabus not caring that they're not delivering a service they promised to provide, the buses always run late and the drivers do not forewarn you of these delays. I was on a bus from Montreal to Toronto that was meant to arrive at Midnight. It did not arrive until 12:25AM and I almost missed the last GO Train to the suburbs! Will never be taking that journey again. Megabus need to stop lying to their customers and list the journey times more realistically on their website to account for delays. 5hrs and 45mins is certainly on the idealistic side for a total journey time from Montreal to Toronto, including a stop in Kingston. Why not present yourselves better and just say its a 6 hour journey, that way customers won't be disappointed if you make it in 6 hours or are earlier than that! All I can say is that the train is worth the investment. It's clear the only goal of Megabus is to rip people off, deliver the worst journey of your life and not care about anything but you're money. You're just a number with megabus, there is no such thing as customer service. read more

So terrible i wouldn't even give it 1 star. Booked a round trip from Toronto to Montreal. Ticket was 80 bucks each way (not too far off from a train ticket but still some savings) the ride there was behind by an hour and a half and we froze the whole way. Not just a little bit of AC everyone on the bus was shivering and trying everything they could to cover themselves up. It was unbearable. At the one stop in kingston i actually considered getting off and not reboarding. I asked the driver if he could turn down the AC and he said no. Then on the way back we missed our bus by 4 min because we couldn't navigate our way out of the metro terminal (no signage pointing to megabus) and the bus left without us. When i went to the desk the woman said there was nothing she could do (i.e. no refund of ticket) and if we wanted to go on another bus we would have to pay another full priced fare and the only bus we could get on is later that night (this was 1030 am). We had to spend 140 each to grab the next train to toronto. I would never recommend this service as a means of travelling and i would never use megabus again. read more

I booked my round tickets in advance, in December, since I had to travel to Toronto every Friday starting from January. After a few week, they cancelled most of my tickets towards to Toronto saying that these bus schedules are cancelled. This is NOT TRUE. Buses are running on their schedules, exactly the same day and time. No matter they give me an option to change my tickets for free, this all process is awkward. As far as I see the seats of supposedly cancelled buses are not sold out either. I really didn't understand why they cancelled my tickets. I asked them by mail, they even didn't bother to answer. I have a huge concern about MegaBus policy. This is my first time booking a trip. As plans changed, I decided to cancel my trip two hours after booking it to find out tickets were not refundable. That wasn't an issue at all. I then followed their trade in policy booking for another date. With a credit of 57$, I tried to trade in for a ticket of 37$. I understand that the difference cannot be refunded, but megabus is asking me for a 5$ extra trade in fee that cannot be taken from the residual credit. Not only am I looking part of my credit, but charging an extra 5$ is not really reasonable. I tried calling customer service and the representative called me names and said that I wasn't understanding anything she was saying. She put me on hold, another representative called sandy answered and redirected me to customer care voicemail. This is my first experience with this company and am truly disappointed. I do not feel at all valuable as a customer and am unsure how I can trust or refer megabus to my surrounding. read more

I thought Greyhound was the worst nope you guys charge extra 20 dollars at the counter because we dont have a credit card, your bus was cancelled out of New York had to wait in Buffalo for over an hour and a half at least 2 hours for another bus that was crammed, I was pissed off. I called up Coach Canada and put in a complain however you guys in the USA are not being cooperative to get evidence such as GPS, when it took off from NY were stranded for that amount of time, we called asking where the bus was. Would not recommend Megabus to anyone. We took Megabus from Toronto to Nigara Falls, return. Had to pay for a cab to the depot and to the falls. We were under the impression they picked us up at our hotel. Very confusing as the trip back they did drop us off at our hotel. We stood at the front of the line in Niagara Falls to enter the bus back to TO. Again had to take a cab from the falls to get there. Bus was late. Bus driver was very rude. He decided to load people from the centre of the bus. Did not honor the order we were in line and most certainly did not help me climbing the steps or seating me in my seat (require a cane). He defintely needs to learn manners. We waited long enough for him to get there. My husband & I felt like cattle being loaded. By the time we left Niagara Falls it was 9 p.m. and there were 3 stops. No idea what the places were as the driver did not call out where we were. When you have never been in these areas before, it would be common courtesy for the busdriver to let you know that there will be 3 stops before reaching TO and where they are. We paid $68 for this Megabus Trip and an additional $50 for cab fare. We tried to change our return time from 8:30pm to about 4 or 5. We called Megabus and spoke to a person at the depot. No one would even check if there was availability for us to get onto an earlier bus? They just rudely said NO! Why, we were not asking for a refund. horrible service..fell on floor cause driver braked do hard..seats fell off under me smashing me to the floor..got bloody n bruised knees..the driver couldn't care less when i told him what happened!!..no seat belt warnings in front of my seat n driver didn't announce it over p.a...i will never ever use this service again..they lie about the rates constantly.. read more

AWFUL!! Took the bus to and from NYC and no where on the site does it tell you this bus makes multiple stops. Trip was supposed to take 10 hours, took 15 hours. Didn't help that the bus was 2 hours late leaving. Bus driver was incredibly rude to customers. One customer was told to take his bag to the back of the bus to be loaded. Bus driver was busy loading other people's stuff so he left it there for the driver to stow. Bus driver started yelling "Who's bag is this?!!" and when the customer said it was his, the driver thought it was appropriate to talk down to him, asking does he think it's a smart idea to just leave his bag here unattended. When we got to the border, border patrol walked on to the bus. After they passed us, I continued my conversation with my friends and we were giggling. Bus driver said "Oh you think this is funny?? You think this is something you should be laughing at? This is not a laughing matter!!" Switched drivers in Buffalo at 2am. Upon continuing on our trip this driver decided to play the instructional video that we had already seen. Coming home we were 6 hours late which made me late for my first day of work. Thanks Megabus! I will never in my life take this bus service again. read more
