I do not see this info listed on the Megabus page either. My brother and I rode the Megabus (in June 2018) from Dallas, TX all the way to Richmond, VA, with a bus changes in Memphis, TN and Atlanta, GA. I'm going to share the same review with those Megabus Yelp business pages. Our trip took around 36 hours. First, the bad: WiFi did not work on ANY of the three buses we rode. It's time consuming. Our journey was 36 hours end to end. Cleanliness of bathroom deteriorates rapidly as the journey wears on. I considered it "For emergency use only." There is no running water. There might have been hand sanitizer. Now the good. Inexpensive. Nothing beat it. Not Greyhound. Not Amtrak. If you have more time than money, or just want an adventure, Megabus is OK. Buses were clean. Buses have a bathroom, but it's nothing more than a chemical toilet. It was an adventure. 110 volt A/C power outlets did work on all buses. Oh, and since it was summer, there were no airline deals either. The bus stops about every 2 hours for a break. It generally stopped at a truck stop, where you could use a restroom with running water, and get something to eat. Our bus change in Memphis was long. It gave us enough time to take an Uber to Beale St. It was also at night. Neighborhood was kinda sketchy, but there was indoor waiting area with vending machines and bathrooms. There's a gas station next door that serves hot food. Our bus change in Atlanta was shorter, but it was long enough to search out some breakfast within walking distance. It was morning for this stop. Neighborhood was OK. There was no indoor waiting area and I think there were restrooms if you went in the MARTA station (below). We arrived in Richmond at night and walked to our hotel. I did not seeing any waiting area, though it is close to the (Amtrak) train station, in the Main Street Station, so there might be something there. If you are prone to motion sickness, there is less sway on the bottom, but try to get toward the front, as the bathroom is in the back. Upper seats have a better view, and the roof is transparent. During the day it was quite enjoyable. There are reserved seats, and if they are available, will cost you a little extra. We only had reserved seats on one bus. Not having a reservation was not a problem. There are some sections, up and down, where the seats face each other (with a small table in the middle). So if you are a party of 3 or 4, it would be good to reserve these seats. You might want to hedge your bet, and reserve seats opposite of each other. This way you'll play footsies with someone you know, not a stranger. It seems obvious now, but the reserved seats are the ones with BIG numbers on them. Once the bus is loaded, it seems OK to move into those seats, but you don't know if they are going to be reserved for the next leg of your journey. The bus does drop off and pick up along the way, though not necessarily at all stops. Some stops are just breaks to stretch your legs, and last 10 to 20 minutes. You might want to bring an extension cord, or have a long charging cable. Sometimes the power is overhead. Brings snacks and drinks, but not alcohol, as it's not allowed. We asked a couple drivers what would happen if you were caught. The answer varied a bit, but it seems likely you will be kicked off the bus. Where you are asked to leave seems to depend on your attitude. If you need anything during the trip, bring it with you when you go to your seat. You can't access your checked bags en route. Consider bringing ear buds or plugs, and eye shades. My conclusion: It was just too many hours. Man this trip dragged on. I would consider it for shorter trips, in fact I'd like to see more of Memphis. And them maybe take a riverboat to New Orleans, and Megabus back to DFW. Bottom line: Good adventure. No problems. No regrets. Mega bus left my Daughter and 4and 5 yr old grandchildren stranded in Birmingham on7/16/22. they were supposed to ride the bus from Birmingham to Memphis. howec the bus never came and mega bus company knew about the transportation problems. they are refunding my daughter for the $79 for the ticket. but not giving me my refund for having to get them home through Greyhound. I thank God there was a grey bus leaving that night. if not they would've been stranded outside in Birmingham. at this pointe I'm going to the media and I'm pursuing legal action for pain and suffering!! read more

Now, I can't speak for every different journey that they have available, but my trip from Memphis to St Louis and back was pretty fantastic for a bus. The pick-up in Memphis is at the MATA terminal downtown...but along the side road and not actually under the awnings. The buses themselves were nice. You have free wifi, albeit slow wifi, outlets to charge your electronics, and decently comfortable seating. I think I got lucky in that my trips weren't heavily traveled...so I got a row to myself. Had there been more passengers, it definitely would have been uncomfortable, as the seats are pretty close together. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the bus itself and the overall efficiency of the staff. Plus my round trip from MEM to STL and back was only $65 at the last minute...I understand it is even less expensive the further in advance you book. On 11/26/18 my mom/children luggage was stolen. They were coming from Texas arriving in Memphis. Megabus y'all need a better system going on. Instead of unloading all the luggage first. Let the people off the bus first so they can see their luggage being unloaded and grab their property. This is ridiculous. My son birthday gift was in that luggage. I had a ticket to change buses in Memphis. No announcement was made and I sat right by the door as my bus took off going to Little Rock. There is no staff here and no way to get information. Sure, it's cheap but you get what you pay for and apparently I paid to be stuck in Memphis with no way to get assistance from Megabus. This really sucks. I understand that some people have had negative comments about MegaBus, but I had a pleasant experience as I traveled to Birmingham from Memphis. The bus was comfortable, clean, and drove smoothly. Also, the driver was on time with our departure and arrival. The only reason why I did not give MegaBus five stars is because of the inability to park my car overnight on site and some people reeked of odor on the bus. If you can deal with those two things, you will be in great shape. Not to mention, the trips are super affordable. read more

Boarding location for the Memphis stop is on Shadyac Ave & 2nd. There's a MegaBus sign on Shadyac ave. It's near the entrance to the parking lot. Megabus staff at this location were both professional and nice. Your luggage may be subject to a weight check, make sure you're under 50#. Yes, they'll pull out a portable scale. I advise you to arrive at least 30 minutes before your trip. It appears to be a busy stop. Tip #1: Download the Megabus App and check prior to your trip. You want to confirm your bus time, so do this a few hours before your trip. It's a free app and simple to use. Tip#2: I had a layover in Memphis for 4 hours and wanted to grab drinks and food. I took the trolley to the downtown/business district. It's about a 5 minute ride and I was in the lobby of a hotel having drinks and a bite to eat. $1 cash each way. There's also a nice public park off the trolley line. Trolleys run roughly every 13 minutes and the staff were very helpful. You can grab snacks and coffee at the Shell near the transportation center if you don't feel comfortable taking the trolley downtown or pressed for time. I happen to be homeless an spent my last hard earn money to purchase a ticket I get there there was no one to help me so I find the bus parked on the corner out of site no visible, I run to catch it wouldn't stop! Board the morning coach from Memphis to St. Louis. Memphis bus terminal is nice. Air Conditioned waiting room with WC. Subway Restaurant and convenience store across the street. I saw a Pyramid two blocks away and went inside. Nice place to pass time there because there is a bowling alley, Bass Pro Shop, hotel rooms and restaurants. The coach came from Dallas and arrived at Memphis on-time. Left Memphis 30 minutes late due to boarding many passengers. The coach was almost full with one vacant seat. The only unreserved seat was broken and they let me sit at one of the empty reserved seat up front on the upper deck. I took a lot of great pictures. This coach arrived at St. Louis on-time. Turns out St Louis terminal is very clean and shared with Amtrak train and Greyhound buses. Also next to Metrolink Train station. read more

I've traveled the Megabus a few times over the years. My most recent trip was in July to Atlanta with my daughter to do a college visit. We decided to take the Megabus since flights from Memphis are so expensive and no one wanted to drive. I'll start with the pros. The bus is clean, the driver is always on time. I've never had an issue with long delays or tardiness. The loading process is quick and efficient. I mean it's the best and definitely cheapest way to travel. There's a phone charger at every seat and the seats recline. The pick-up spot has been moved from Shadyac Ave Downtown to the American Way Transit Center. Now for the cons. I'm a native of Memphis so I'm very familiar with different parts of town. The new pick up location is in a seedy part of town so be very careful. I suggest having someone take you whose car you can sit in and wait with them until the bus arrives. I did notice a security guard walking around the premises so that helped, but I don't know if that's the norm. Since the Megabus is cheap, it attracts a certain element of people. I'm not referring to race. I'm referring to loud, ghetto, rachetedness, and uncouth. Often times you will be exposed to someone's boyfriend or family drama during the ride. Megabus is also doing a reserved seat thing now where you can pick your seats when you buy your ticket online. You have to be careful with this as well because folks will still sit in your seat and then you have to let them know. I had an issue with a woman on the bus that didn't want to get up from our seats that was clearly on our ticket. I simply moved up closer to better reserved seats as I had my daughter with me and didn't want things to get uglier. Now, if someone would've showed up whose seats we were in we would've had to move therefore making her move also. Yes, I could've informed the bus driver but decided to let it go since we were in seats that went unclaimed. In my opinion I feel the bus driver and assistant should reinforce the reserve seat policy while loading the bus. Everyone is not reasonable or polite when you tell them excuse me please you're in my seat. They leave it to you to deal with it and things could easily escalate into very negative situations. I believe it would be better received coming from the staff to the individuals that are knowingly in the wrong seat. read more

GET OFF 'MY' BUS SAYS FEMALE DRIVER to family w elderly mom & child I can definitely agree with this review. My family and I had a horrific experience last night (8/20/2014) in Memphis TN heading to Atlanta. We arrived on time and had given the luggage to the male employee that was assisting with loading all the luggage. My sister was stopped by the female driver's 'partner', as my sister was about to proceed to the entrance of the bus. The female driver's female 'partner', very firmly told my sister that she cannot take the very small size carry-on luggage with rollers that my sister came with from Atlanta to Memphis on the same Megabus, under her seat, on this particular bus back to Atlanta. My sister kindly attempted to ask and let her know that this same carry-on came to Memphis from Atlanta under her seat in the bus; and the bus driver got so unruly and completely out of control. The female bus driver was then accompanied by another female employee that said she was her partner and both females were completely inhumane, obnoxious, and unruly. My sister, nephews, and my elderly mother stepped on the bus. The bus driver and her 'partner' seated my elderly mother next to the washroom and seated my sister and her little son (6 years old) separate from each other at the top of the bus. My older nephew (20 years) is still waiting to be seated at this point, by the bus driver. The driver and her 'partner' stepped off the bus and were talking to each other. I attempted to let them both know that all of my family's blankets and snacks for the almost 8 hours ride were in the small carry-on that my sister had willingly let the male employee put under the bus, after being informed by the female driver's partner that it could not go under the seat. The female bus driver said, "DO NOT TALK TO ME". The bus driver decided to ask my family to step off the bus. We then asked, what was the reason that my family needed to step off the bus and she repeatedly said "DO NOT TALK TO ME". The passengers on the bus were flabbergasted by the entire incident. Please keep in mind the bus was scheduled to leave Memphis at 11:30pm. The driver proceeded to call the police and (I assume) her supervisor. Some of the passengers came down from upstairs and said to us that the two females have a TERRIBLE attitude problem and they were sorry about everything that was happening to us. The female bus driver at that point threatened those passengers that were talking to us to either stay on the bus or get off 'their' bus as well. The male employee that was assisting with the luggage said that "those two women have some serious problems" (referring to the bus driver and her 'partner') and also mentioned that "they were known for this type of thing" (again referring to the female bus driver and her 'partner'). The police officer was very apologetic and helped us understand that if they wanted my family off the bus, there is nothing that he can do. The police officer mentioned to us that he can definitely tell that the bus driver and her 'partner', were "from the hood". The officer recommended getting in touch with the Megabus company early in the morning and said that he would not mind letting the company know what he reported, saw and heard while he was there. My family was escorted off the bus along with all their belongings. My sister and her 6 year old son were scheduled to board a further travel plan via plane to New York from Atlanta. This uncouth experience has left us all speechless (my family and the passengers alike). The passengers had so much to say about the female drivers, the bus company and this incident but some were terrified that they may be escorted off the bus as well and as a result, some of them just hugged us. My family had a WONDERFUL time in Memphis but commented to me that this was the worst experience and will not be using the Megabus company for future travel plans. Tonight, I am hurting. I am hurting because the initial email that contained my itinerary from the Megabus company, greeted me as a Valued Customer and my family and I feel disliked, humiliated, underrated, underestimated and depreciated. We do hurt but we believe in forgiveness, peace and harmony. read more

I use to love the megabus, now its horrible. too crowded, loud and obnoxious! Most of all the bus broke down both times I was on it. My trips went from 9 hours to 14 and 16 hours. This is by far the worst transportation I've ever taken, I'm disappointed that I even have to give it one star. The employees are so rude and degrading, throw your luggage in front of you, give you vague instructions and then belittle you for doing exactly as they say. At every other stop, my luggage was loaded first and then my ticket checked. The guy who instructed us told us to line up on the fence and then load our luggage. Went to do that and was told to have them check my ticket. This probably wouldn't be as annoying if it weren't pouring down rain and lightning. Or if we had been given clear and correct instructions. The pick up time where I'm going is early in the morning, other people are picking me up. But we're still sitting here. 49 minutes late. Not that the employees care. I saw one lady thrown off because she didn't know her infant needed his own ticket. Another was booted because the loading guy suspected her suitcase weighed too much. When we stopped at this bus stop over an hour and a half ago, they didn't even tell us what time to be back out here. Should we sit outside in the pouring rain or risk missing the bus? Doesn't matter what you do- the employees don't give a single flying eff word. But don't SAY the 'f' word! Power hungry blonde c-word will threaten to boot you off for that too.
