Megabus location looks sketchy but staff is walking around constantly to help passengers. The parking at the depot is limited. The restrooms are accessible if not being cleaned at the depot. The megabus was about 20 minutes late but that was ok . Traffic is horrible in the area. The passengers loaded very quick and off you go! read more

This is my general review of Megabus, not specifically directed at this bus stop. The bus stop is literally out in the middle of a street in a complex; it's not the safest place to be if you're a woman traveling alone so make sure someone comes with you to drop you off. The driver & staff at this location were awesome but the resources are terrible here. No way would I ever take Megabus to go to NC considering the unsafe bus stop situations & largely inconvenient scheduling. We actually arrived from here to DC early but you can't even get an earlier bus if you get to DC despite those buses leaving every half hour to NYC. I had to wait around 3+ hours only to have the bus I was to leave on be over 30 minutes late. After standing around in line forever, the lady at the bottom of the bus gets all pissy at me for not having upper body strength or some guy to lift my heavy suitcase up to her. When I point out that I weight about 100 pounds & can lift about 20 pounds comfortably, she says "Maybe you shouldn't have packed so much stuff." Geez, lady I only have clothing & Christmas gifts and food in there. Maybe you think I'm not even entitled to have any oxygen b/c I'm so little. Would she be telling some frail old lady this? What is she getting paid for? On the return, I had to injure myself to get my suitcase from this high distance all by myself. Chivalry is definitely dead & the customer service at Megabus offered no help at all. No partial refunds, no "we're sorry about that" or even thinking of the suggestion to let those who actually arrive at the layover early carry their ticket on to the connecting bus earlier for no extra charge. After all this, my mother (who paid for the tickets) said "We're not dealing with this for you to get here next Christmas." read more

Megabus is the absolute worst service in existence. Do not ever use them. They delayed my bus for several hours and without giving any specifics, required us to "stay within the vicinity." It was 40 degrees out at 3 in the morning, so everyone left to find shelter to come back when they estimated the bus to arrive. After 4 separate emails about 90 or 120 minute delays, the bus arrived an hour earlier than their last stated time, so several of us missed the bus. Customer service blamed us for missing the bus and tried to tell us we had to buy a new ticket. I felt bad bc I was getting angry at the customer reps who really weren't at fault, but HQ should have better procedures for when THEY screw up instead of putting on the customer. Eff that. I bought an amtrak ticket. NEVER AGAIN megabus. They are the absolute worst. read more

False advertising!! They announced everywhere you will have WiFi while you ride with them and is false!! I bought a round trip and wifi didn't work in any trip. Besides, in the way from Washington, DC to Charlotte, NC after we stopped in the place where the new driver supposed to be, we have to pick her up in a hotel near by. In the return trip, after we made the stop for 30 minutes (2 to 2:30 am), we waited for another 25 minutes (2:55 am) without any information until the driver said "There is information I don't have, the driver is not coming to us, we are going to the driver" and drove until the same hotel where we pick it up the other driver before. But this time he couldn't find the next driver and we wait from 3:00 am until 3:26 am more than 25 minutes without air conditioning and people snoring aloud. So disrespectful !! Bus from Durham to Union Station, supposedly "a brand new bus" according to the driver, threw an alternator belt which left us in Richmond for an extra two hours. Got to Union Station in DC at 12:30AM after the last Metro - had to take a cab - serious dent in my wallet. Coming back, to Durham on Sunday was far worse. Bus was scheduled to leave Union Station at 4:15PM. I got there at 3PM - place was mobbed with folks going to NYC. Spoke to the dispatcher -- "where is the Durham bus?" At the end of the line. Spoke to the driver of the bus next to the last one. He said the Durham bus was to his left. OK - so I had about 90 minutes 75 minutes before bus time - decided to get a coffee. Came back 30 minutes before the bus - asked where to line up - was told - it LEFT about 15 minutes previously! No text message; no announcement - and WHY didn't they tell me when I was asking where the bus was? Next one was at 11PM. I had to get to Durham for a job today - so I took a plane. Major money problem DO NOT TAKE MEGABUS - they are unreliable. read more

I got a comfortable clean bus and I have been on time every time I used it except once. The price can never be beat. If you are able to obtain the fifth booking(or earlier) between Durham and DC you still pay only about $14! From there it goes up to $38 on most runs. These prices are very reasonable. Megabus has become my method of choice, and necessity, when visting Durham from DC or Richmond. I even take it further than that sometimes, though the connections under two hours are NOT guaranteed and may be taken only at your own risk. (Instead of risking missed connections, you are advised to reserve a later time, and then pay a $5 standby upgrade if the option is still available at certain popular connection hubs, such as DC.) The perceived negatives of megabus are way overhyped here. I am confounded by some reviews that admit they took megabus dozens of times then give it one star. You obviously think there is some value to the service because it is not the only option and you selected it for cost or convenience. (Among other transportation companies, also there is driving.) read more

They make you wait at this hotel for 40 minutes for a driver change. You arent allowed to leave the bus because "the hotel owner complained". Was about an hour late because of this. This route goes all the way to atlanta, meaning everyone getting on at every stop in between was left wondering if the bus was even coming for an hour. The wifi didnt work and the richmond stop looked like some place someone would meet a drug dealer. read more

This was a disaster of a bus trip. First time riding on the Megabus and they show up an hour late. On top of that it's daylight saving so we missed an hour, which means we missed our next bus apparently. So we had to wait in the cold for hours. Then a bus finally arrives just to drop people off and leave instead of taking us to our next destination. The wait continues. All my life I had to wait and the megabus just makes it worse. Save your time and don't take the megabus. read more

Frequently, before this bus drops passengers off from DC or Richmond in Durham, it will change drivers at a hotel 5 minutes away from the station. You would think that when the bus is over an hour late, the relief driver would be waiting when the bus arrives at this hotel. But the driver is never ready. Instead passengers - already an hour delayed - sit at a hotel for a half an hour, tantalizing close to their final destination, while friends and family anxiously wait to pick them up. This is just one of many issues Megabus faces here. I do not recommend Megabus unless you are an extremely patient person and have no other means of traveling to or from Durham. read more

I traveled back and forth between Durham, NC and Washington, DC. Below are the events I noted: 1. Check-in process in Durham is non-existent. If you're not paying attention, you'll miss your bus. Union station was a bit more organized 2. The wifi DOES NOT work. No exceptions. 3. The bus was freezing 4. The drivers were rude, short and difficult to understand. 5. No one explains to passengers reserved vs general seats. You show your ticket and the rude driver just nods or tells you to go. Some seats are reserved and some are not. I witnessed SEVERAL people sit in a reserved seat but then were asked to get up once the passenger who purchased the seat arrived. Musical chairs took up way too much time. 6. Spaces between the seats are too tight. 7. Late/delayed schedules. We rode around D.C. For an hour because the driver was waiting on dispatch to provide directions. Delayed the trip for all subsequent stops. Huge issue. 8. So much foul language noted with passengers on their personal devices. 9. One young lady in Richmond just got on the bus, with not ticket in hand and no shoes on. I'm not sure she was even checked-in. read more

On time, nice ride. There are only two things that stink, one is the bathroom.... not recommended and the WIFI. Would not work on my IPad.

I booked a mega bus from DC to NC. The bus had no working AC. In the summer. And the windows don't open. Why do they even have buses operating with no AC in the summer? Apparently nobody checks these things, and Megabus doesn't really seem to care about something as basic as air conditioning on their vehicles, which by the way becomes like an oven when it's hot outside. Book your trip with another carrier. Megabus no longer cares to maintain their vehicles nor do they care about passenger comfort. Not even worth the cheap price. read more

I had a terrible experience with Megabus and I do no recommend it to anyone. I rode from NC to NY and somehow my luggage along with another couples fell out on the highway and was found in Pennsylvania. I called Megabus to report my missing luggage after arriving to New York with nothing and they said it would be 7-10 business days. Meanwhile, strangers found my luggage on the highway and got in contact with me to return it. I had to pay shipping costs to have the strangers send my luggage back home, My luggage was damaged, and I had to buy all new clothes for my 4 day vacation in New York. Megabus has yet to take any accountability nor reimburse me for having a faulty hatch that allowed my luggage to fall out of the bottom of the bus. The customer service representatives are rude and the busses are dirty. Do not choose Megabus. read more

I took Greyhound and Amtrak bus numerous times over the year in west coast, and time to come for my first ride here in the east with Megabus. A nice fellow took the bus before recommended me the Megabus app, though with only 1 star rating, does a good job on tracking the bus arrival time. Which is a great plus compare to Amtrak. My bus to Atlanta was 30 mins late, which isn't really bad considering that it came all the way from DC. For $15, there isn't really anything I could complain. read more

Megabus supervisor hung up on me and did not resolve my issue. They are inconsiderate of the customer and do not help you in anyway. Both the service rep and the supervisor just repeated there company policy to me and the supervisor was extremely unhelpful. I need to transfer my ticket purchases to one ticket and they are saying I can not do so. I will be losing $30 because of their exchange fees and the fact I can only put one ticket towards the purchase of another ticket which makes no sense. Additionally, there are no trips to my area scheduled out far enough for me to travel so I will lose another $5 when I reschedule again. This is ridiculous service and I will never travel with megabus. read more

Grab your seats ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be a good one. To start off, this was my first mega bus ride ever! And my last. It all started on an icy cold night. My friend and I arrive 1 hour early to the train station, for the mega bus. Only to find out that the bus driver decided to arrive 2 hours late. I don't know what the heck that mf was drinking that he thought he could do that, but I'll take some !! So then after I got on the MeGA bUS, well actually the bus ride to wasn't bad, but I mean I don't know how you can mess up the driving part. Well beside the "I'm two hours late to a schedule ride, and made people wait in 20 degree weather" part. So yeah that mf (BuS DriVeR) left us in Washington DC, two hours late to our transfer bus appointment. Where the whole system thought we were "on time". But when we got here there was no transfer bus, and now I'm literally riding on a greyhound, smelly asf, small asf. Because we had to fight to get a schedule bus to take us because we missed our transfer bus. Overall, worst experience ever in public transporting. Idk wth that guy was doing it I was two hours late to my job, I would be fired on the spot. read more

Bus was clean, power outlets work, driver kind. Just took this from Durham to DC and back. Not good about timeliness though. Outgoing trip: bus showed up 20 min late & all told took an extra hour compared to schedule. There was a pit stop outside of Richmond which seemed unnecessary--if it was for a driver change why not do it in Richmond at a scheduled stop? On the way back from DC, bus was 30 min late arriving at union station, and departure was at least 45 min to an hour past posted time. Was an hour and 40 min late total arriving in Durham. read more

My daughter took the bus from DC to Durham, and the bus broke down within an hour of leaving the station. The bus was stranded on the highway. It took Megabus two hours to get a mechanic to the site, who could not fix the problem. It took Megabus another two and a half hours to get a new bus to their location. So, four and a half hours after breaking down, at 11:30 p.m., a new bus arrived. If that weren't bad enough, the Megabus website and call center could not give an accurate new arrival time, and kept revising the time later and later. As a result, my daughter ended up without a ride waiting for her due to this snafu. And of course her phone had died because none of the outlets on the second bus worked, so she could not recharge it. A terrible, terrible experience. read more

So I've been a regular rider of MegaBus and did not have much issues with it up until my family and I decided to take it up to New York City Dec 22nd for Christmas. MegaBus had just recently given the option for a "one-way" trip from Durham to NYC. I decided to go for it, which was a big mistake. It was never stated on the print-out receipt that we had to change buses in DC. We were literally thrown out in the freezing cold at around 6am and were told to wait (after grabbing every person we can find) till 8:30am for a bus to NYC. We were appalled, not to mention drowsy and freezing at the bus stop. After asking around, we were told that if we stand by the "stand-by" sign they had, we can jump on the earliest bus to NYC for $5 per person. We took this option and left on the supposed "8am" bus. The other bus riders from Durham going to NYC were equally shocked. Never again. Don't take the supposed Durham to NYC "one-way option", unless you are ready to wait a good few hours for your bus in DC. read more

Just took the Megabus for the first time from Durham to DC and back. It was on-time. And even though we left DC at 4pm, there were no delays with traffic. It was comfortable. After spending 3 days sight-seeing I was relieved not to have to be driving back home. Based on this first experience I would recommend MegaBus. read more

Never before have we stopped at a nearby hotel, 5 minutes from the destination! The replacement drivers were not ready to leave when we arrived, and they held us up by another 20 minutes while they were yelled at by the outspoken of a bus full of unsatisfied customers. read more

I don't think this bus driver realizes it's 37 degrees outside. He has the AC set perfect for hanging meat. Incredibly uncomfortable ride, both to D.C. and back to Durham. There were also very inconsiderate people on both legs. My 3:30am leg included one that had he music blasting from her headphones so loud that the entire sleeping bus was disturbed. read more

Stopping at a motel 5 mins from the destination & waiting 25 mins for a new driver to come out further prolonging the trip is not okay, especially when the bus is already behind schedule. When purchasing Durham tickets, there is no disclaimer that the bus will be detouring to stop for an unknown amount of time in a motel parking lot, each time that this has happened we've arrived to the destination late -- people have rides, and cabs waiting to pick them up who somewhat rely on the estimated time, this is unprofessional and inconsiderate. On my last trip, the bus was 40 minutes late to Union Station DC, didn't function from the jump as none of the outlets nor monitors worked. When we reached Richmond, to no surprise, the bus had "technical issues", and we were pulled over on the side of a random rode for 1 hour 30 min. The bus felt like it was going to break down again a couple of times when back on the highway. Now, over 2 hrs behind schedule, 5 mins away from the Durham stop, the driver detours to a motel where he waits for a new driver to wake up, come out & switch --this took 25 minutes. I do not need to express how unprofessional, illogical, & inconsiderate it is. (At least drop off the durham riders & pick up the people standing in a long line w/bags, waiting to get on before stopping at the hotel. Maybe then the replacement driver will be awake & ready to go smh.) I was shooting to be in Durham around a certain time & gave an hour window. Wrote customer service for a manager or refund, only to receive a copy & paste reply that Megabus strives to provide good service. False, they can care less, there is not a manager to rectify ridiculous situations. Sloppy. This is not the first time the break down has happened--UNSAFE. I'll get a rental, or spend twice the amount & take Amtrak over being subjected to their foolery again. read more

Megabus customer service is atrocious and I will never ever purchase another bus ticket from them again. My boyfriend waited for 1.5 hours outside in the cold (the bus station was closed due to the weather) with many other customers. After the bus didn't show at 4 (its scheduled departure time), they called Megabus only to get conflicting answers--one rep said it had already left at 3:40, another said they couldn't give any information until the bus was 45 minutes late. Around 4:15 another representative said the bus would be there any minute, but it never arrived. So my boyfriend waited until a few minutes before 5, knowing that was when the last bus left for New Jersey (where he lives) departs, to go inside and try to find other travel means. He was the last customer waiting, as the others had already decided to rent cars or take a train to Durham. I called Megabus at 5:15 when I caught wind of all of this. The Megabus representative then informed me that the bus had left at 5:02. I called my boyfriend to see where he was and what he wanted to do. I then called Megabus back. They told me that unequivocally they could not refund my ticket and that the bus left at 5:07. The representative also refused to pass me along to her manager to discuss the situation. My boyfriend then called later to request a refund and they stated that the bus left at 5:32. read more

I purchased a roundtrip ticket from Richmond Virginia to Durham NC for Thanksgiving leaving on November 21, 2018. I arrived 30 minutes early. After 2 hours of waiting outside in the cold there was still no bus. At 2.5 hours late a bus arrived but the driver said he was going to Charlottsville Va. When we informed him the bus did not go to that town he corrected and said he was going to Charlotte NC. When I asked whether his bus stopped in Durham, NC on the way he said no. I checked the tracking which said that his bus was the Durham bus. There were about 20 people waiting for the Durham bus. He later came out and said how many of you are going to Durham and put 8 people on his bus saying another bus was coming "soon." I waited another 45 minutes and with no faith that another bus was coming I returned home. Someone drove from Durham to get me. I bought a ticket back on Amtrak. It is hard to believe a company could be so unreliable with a bus that was over 2.5 hours late, an incompetent driver, an apparently oversold situation. Don't risk waiting on one of these buses. Megabus may be the worst service I've ever experienced. It was cheap and I therefore had low expectations. Megabus still managed to amaze me with their terrible service.
