I wanted to have them cleaned and to see if anything could be done about the discoloration. The person who was working (and older gentleman who claimed to be the owner) told me it would be 90 € for the service because it would take me at least 1.5 hours to do the work. He told me I could do it myself at home and sold me two products for 12 €. I did exactly as it said and it didn't help my shoes at all. Today I went to another shoemaker with the products I was sold and asked if anything could be done for my shoes. He told me the products I was sold were not for this type of leather at all and that he could fix the discoloration for around 12-15 €. I have yet to pick my shoes up from this other place. Not only was the gentleman at Vakschoenmakerij unfriendly, but he tried to charge me an outrageous price and proceeded to sell me two products which he claimed would improve the color, but was actually just a water-repelent and a block for a TOTALLY other type of leather. I am very disappointed.

Getting a rubber sole put on a $150 pair of boots cost me 50 euros, so it was cheaper than buying a new pair of boots, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't really love the shoes already. Their work is good, and it typically takes close to a week to get things back. There is also a little boutique of new shoes next to the repair desk if you want to throw in the towel with your old faithful shoes that saw you through so much until they finally broke down, giving the best years of their lives for you, for something newer and shinier with pure unscuffed soles. The good people at Hillie's won't judge.

I used them for a new mailbox sign on my apartment mailbox. I wanted it to match the everyone else in the building so I brought the existing plate as an example. I find the prices reasonable and staff helpful. The woman explained to me the best way to use the ink and clean the stamp. It helps that this is right around the corner, too!
