We sadly had to put our 15+ year old cat down. MedVet Staff made the whole process more bearable by seeing us right away in a private suite, we stayed in the entire time, also includes a private exit. You can dim the lights, leave a message about your animal to the staff and a farewell and just spend the last moments with your loved one before the nurse and doctor comes in. They leave the timing completely up to you so you don't feel rushed. They use a call light system to alert when you are ready for each stage of the process. The hardest parts of having a fur baby is the goodbye, the staff at MedVet were full of compassion, consideration and understanding. They even sent us a condolences card which wasn't necessary but very sweet and comforting to get while we waited for her ashes, especially as the holidays grow closer. If the time has come to send your loved one over the rainbow bridge, our family highly recommend their services. Thank you MedVet and Staff for making one of our hardest days as comfortable and streamlined as possible. We love our Princess Panda and are grateful to you all for helping us through it.

When this mischievous fellow swallowed some string down like a piece of spaghetti, the folks at MedVet Pittsburgh were extremely helpful. Given the risk of bowel obstruction, our vet instructed us to seek emergency care. We immediately took Voodoo to another large PGH-area veterinary ER where he was triaged but we were told that they were "at capacity." They instructed us to seek medical care elsewhere ASAP. Everyone at MedVet was very kind. They were upfront about wait times (8-10 hours) and that they might not be able to induce vomiting since it had now been a few hours since the ingestion. But they took him back right away and set him up in a kennel with a litter box and some water. They examined him and discussed options before pursuing workup or treatment, and kept us updated at each step. Fortunately, they were able to induce vomiting after X-rays, and he eventually expelled the offending string. We ended up being in and out in less than 4 hours. The bill was just over $600, which included the medications to induce vomiting and 3 view X-rays. We are so grateful for the care provided by Dr. Ielapi and the staff that night! I know they were very busy but they still took excellent care of Voodoo. Though as great as they were, we are keeping him away from strings so that we don't have to meet again.

Example of their stitched up work that doesn't look that great, using blood and him passed away

As I'm literally sitting here crying my eyes out, reading all the negative reviews....i wish I would have chosen a different place to take my dog. For starters I took my dog to my vet, who told me he needed emergency surgery. they told me to go to med vet. If only I could go back in time 5 days when I pulled in the parking lot and my husband said we should take him somewhere else...only bc I have been to this vet before and I already know about the crazy prices at med vet. Well my dog and I go in, they go over everything with me and I tell them let's do the surgery....well the surgery didn't happen until the following afternoon bc they said his kidney levels were way to low to proceed. Cut to after surgery, I come to get my dog- they bring him out literally covered in his poop I'm sure he was laying in and he smelled so bad! The cone they brought him out in was covered in I don't know what, maybe throw up since it was the cone I brought him in and he had been throwing up nonstop before coming there from the last vet. Anyway I pay my almost 12k bill, which looking at some of my statement that I still haven't fully went through bc I've been dealing with my sick dog...some things I feel I shouldn't have paid for like a almost $800 phone call as they call it a dvm. They told me Im paying that bc there wasn't a doctor on call, and the room wasn't ready for surgery.....yet they knew the surgery was coming bc he was there for 1.5 days before the surgery even took place. Anyway back to it...I took my dog home- first day he was ok, literally slept...but was panting like crazy And coughing . Second day it started going all down hill...he started oozing from his stitches, but not that bad until like the 5th day. The 3rd day he wasn't bleeding at all, 4th day started again- the the 5th day it was poring out. Mean time I did call before and I was told I could bring him in, but of course If they would have to do anything I would have to pay for it. I mean in my opinion I just paid yall 12k, If anything I shouldn't have to pay anything. Anyway we are back at the vet on day 5- I was told he was in very bad shape, that they wouldn't even release him back in my care- told me he most likely had bacteria in his stomach talked about a lot of things that he would most likely need another surgery that would cost me another $10,000 or more and also gave me the option of putting him down. I mean, I just spent $12,000. Do you really want more for me of course you do because I felt like you guys were money hungry and I can tell that by my itemized bill. I'm just very upset with the entire situation because I ended up putting my dog down who wasn't even hardly seven years old because I was price gouged and couldn't afford another surgery. Now I have to rely on if I get him back since I read a bad review about you guys losing someone else's dog during cremation. I just hope nothing goes wrong with his cremation.

My ten-year-old, very healthy, German Shepherd, Kayda, started experiencing issues with her hind end about four months ago. It started with her just becoming a bit wobbly while walking. We got her started with treatments immediately. At first, our vet thought it was just age and some ortho issues. Hip dysplasia and arthritis (which she does have as she is ten). We did non-invasive diagnostic testing. We did Librela shots. we did oral NSAIDs and pain medication. We did physical therapy. And while it didn't particularly seem like she was in pain, the strength in her back legs was clearly getting worse over the past few months despite our efforts. About a week ago, she took a turn for the true worst. What was once weakness in the back legs was now near complete paralysis. She was suffering mentally. She was tired. I thought it was the end and I would have to make the decision that I have been dreading for the last ten-plus years. I have heard that when it is time, you'll know. She will tell you. But she still didn't. She told me she was frustrated. She told me she was tired. But she did not tell me she was ready to be done. So, I listened to her. This past Monday morning, in a last-ditch effort, I called the MedVet Emergency Department. My incredible experience literally started the second that I made that phone call. Upon arrival to MedVet, I carried Kayda in, and they let us go back to a room right away instead of sitting in the waiting room once they saw Kayda's condition (and mine). A very nice tech came in, got Kayda's history, and took her back to be evaluated by the neurosurgeon, Dr. Jacob Leslie. Probably the only "negative" thing I would say about this whole experience was that when they took her back, they said they were going to get her vitals and be right back. I work in the medical field, so I do know what "be right back" means, so I was expecting it to take a bit of time. However, she was back there for about forty-five minutes, and I was panicking. Luckily, a woman came in and said they didn't forget about me, and Kayda would be back shortly, which she was. It turns out when they were back there, they did a whole work-up, ultrasound, EKG, etc. It just would have been a little more settling in such a time of uncertainty to know that it was going to be a little while. But she was safe and receiving care. They brought her back in and with her came the neurosurgeon, Dr. Jacob Leslie. When I say incredible, I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart. He is clearly brilliant, however is able to word and explain things for those of us who are not as familiar with canine neuro issues, how it all works, what to expect, possible other issues, all of it. He was calm. He was respectful. He was empathetic. He was realistic. He possesses every single quality you would hope to have in a doctor, whether it be for yourself, a loved one, or a beloved pet. He explained in depth what the possible issues could be causing her hind lameness, and that an MRI would be necessary to determine the cause. When I say this man explained every single thing that would be done, could be done, could happen, should happen, etc., I mean in DEPTH. Really took his time to make sure we fully understood. Answered our million questions Was beyond patient and understanding. On Monday, Kayda had her MRI. It showed a ruptured disc and possible infection. He gave us the prognosis of recovery which was great, and recommended surgery. We had full trust in him. I trusted him with her life. We took Kayda in on Tuesday for her laminectomy. She stayed overnight in the ICU, and we were able to pick her up Wednesday afternoon. They called when she went in for procedures. They called when she was out. They called to update us. The doctor called multiple times. They were beyond accommodating and thoughtful and understood our stress. I cannot adequately thank the staff at MedVet. The words "grateful" and "thankful" feel like they poorly describe the feeling I have. Indebted. They have saved Kayda's life. They restored her quality of life. They gave her the fighting chance to do what she loves again. Run around and be independent and do whatever she pleases. She is the most resilient, strongest, healthiest girl, and I know she will be a champ about this, just like everything else. The road to recovery will be taxing and frustrating, but Dr. Leslie is confident that she will regain function and it will be worth it. There is quite literally nothing I wouldn't do for Kayda, and that is exactly how this team made me feel. That they would do anything they possibly could to help her. And I think that was the best part. I knew she was in great hands that truly cared about her. If anyone needs impeccable care, emergency or not, absolutely highly consider going to MedVet. Thank you, Dr. Leslie, and the neurosurgery team! You all encompass what it means to be exceptional providers.

Our 6 year old lab was suffering so much so quickly (not able to eat or drink, facial paralysis, unable to walk correctly, lethargic) and our normal vet had no clue, Avets turned us away days earlier because they were full. We found Rivers Vet and they referred us to MedVet in McMurray. That was such a blessing. They moved quick to get him triaged and on fluids. They took the time to get his full history and try to find the root cause of his symptoms. They explained the costs and charges well. Yes, it's a lot of money but we made the choice to keep fighting to get our boy help. Their neurologist, Dr Leslie, was able to find and see what no others could. We still don't have all the answers on Toby's condition yet, but having the peace of mind knowing our boy is in trustworthy hands is exactly what we all needed. Thank you Med Vet of McMurray and Dr. Leslie!!!!!

His doctor was absolutely wonderful the whole time and spent time with to answer any questions. She also remained with us the entire time. Maybe in a dire emergency my mind would be different but a small bleeding laceration in a dog shouldn't be a nearly 8 hour ordeal with a 4.5 hour wait to even begin the process.

We showed up, they assessed her, and scheduled her for surgery that night. They called me after the procedure and i picked her up the next morning. As an aside, the 1st clinic i went to charged me a 2% fee of the total bill because i had to use a credit card for the payment. Rainbow does not charge for that. Rainbow will be my 'go to' for any emergencies or situations when i cant get into my regular vet. Super nice, clean, provided lots of information. Didnt minimize my concerns.

During my call to schedule an appointment, I spoke to Mike, the owner. Realizing how clueless I was about my pooch's needs,Mike asked me to drop in with my pup so that we could address what needed to be done.... I was soo grateful for that! I couldn't differentiate between a puppy cut Vs regular cut or how I would like the hair on his face cut( umm..short) to if I wanted his teeth brushed( huh? Sure!) During our visit Mike proved to me extremely knowledgable, friendly & reassuring. He guided me through what might work best for my pup without being overtly aggressive. Sometimes, it is great to have someone help navigate thru unchartered territories. My pooch even got a complimentary nail trim while there. On the day of his grooming, post session,I came in to find a perfectly trimmed little pup who was too busy playing with the other dogs in the salon to even notice I hadn't been there all this time!
