We live in Fairhope and had never visited this location until a few weeks ago. Our 13 year old Chloe was in rapidly declining health and on a Sunday she started having frequent seizures. So much so that we could not wait for her quality of life check the next day at her normal vet. We called this location and they told us to come in. We brought our little girl in and the staff was so incredibly helpful and nice. We ended up having to send our girl over the rainbow bridge and the staff was so nice and compassionate during one of the worst days of my life. They handled the situation so gracefully. Fast forward to this week, we received Chloe's remains and we even got a card from this location that was signed by the staff and had a paw print on a card from our Chloe. For someone that had never visited this location, they treated us like family and for that, I will be forever grateful read more

The lady that came to the room to see us had such sweet things to say about our cat and made us feel so secure. I'd trust this place again in a heartbeat. We had an emergency on Saturday that necessitated a 24hour Vet. They were open. I called and Emily took our information over the phone. They were ready for us when we arrived an hour later (drive took 1hr) and put us straight into an exam room. The vet tech's were incredible, as was the front staff and Dr. Gregory (?). They did an initial assessment, asked questions and gave us a best/worst case scenarios. They took Gus back twice - once for vitals and a second time for bloodwork. Luckily our dog is pretty agile so he came away with scrapes and bruises but it could have been much worse. You could tell they were exhausted as they had 2 very urgent cases, yet still cycled us into the rounds. I would recommend this facility and the staff. Yes, we waited. Our "emergency" was not the highest priority and we understood that from the onset. They did the best they could considering the resources and more urgent matters they had. don't recommend. this place doesn't deserve a dime, they deserve to be closed down. killed my 5lb yorkie, she had to have emergency surgery the day prior, which was done by her primary vet, they sent her home with an antibiotic and an anti inflammatory medication, the next night my grandma noticed our girl was panting and breathing heavy like she was uncomfortable and it was scaring my grandma so she called our vet and they recommended this place. wanting to save our puppy's life and get her some help my grandparents rushed her there. when they got there my grandparents told them they just wanted to get her something for the pain and maybe help her get some rest. they proceeded to give her (a 5 pound dog) 5 shots without explanation, none of which were her antibiotic, proceeded to put fluid in her then take it right back out. i'm no veterinarian but that doesn't even seem right?! they wanted to keep her overnight but by the way the nurses were acting my grandparents didn't trust them not one bit, so they took her home. not even 10 mins later in the car on the ride home she barked and was gone. just like that. our hearts snatched from us. my grandparents said the nurses seemed rushed, sloppy and unprofessional. we still remain clueless as to what really caused our puppy to pass away, and honestly it's crushing. did they give her the wrong medication rushing around ? did they even try to save her ? if my grandparents didn't bring her here that night would she still be here ? so many questions unanswered while yall still got yalls money, had no remorse, no answers, nothing for us and here i am 5 months later still pondering what could have went wrong. 9 years with something so special was not enough and i know she had more life and you snatched that from us. it's crazy because majority of these reviews are very telling. money hungry pet murderers. read more

Everyone was so kind from the start. They are very detailed about your pets situation, and they were so patient with my questions. I had a very sick dog that has been in my life for 12 years. My girl. I also had both of my toddlers who were jacked up from everything. It was chaotic. The vet was extremely amazing - I had to make the decision to put her down so she's not suffering and everyone there went above and beyond to keep that moment special. They made sure she stayed on warm blankets the entire time. They even gave her a last meal of chicken. That to me is care and love. Something that is hard to find these days. When my elderly dog became disoriented, couldn't walk, had no balance I thought she was nearing her end. I know being a larger breed dog (boxer mix) she is almost at the end of her life span but I wasn't ready to say good-bye. My son and daughter in law took her to medvet the next morning (I could not get out of work) as she was showing no improvement and it was a Saturday so my regular vet was closed. They let me me know if the wonderful, kind and compassionate care they received at medvet - and we knew it would be a bit pricey and were pleasantly surprised with that end of it (thank goodness for care credit, which I already had from a previous cat emergency). My dog was suffering from 'old dog vestibular' and after some TLC and medicine, fortunately, has made a full recovery. She is acting like a puppy again, so happy to be walking and not falling any more!. read more

Yes I breed dogs but they are literally like my children and sleep in the bed with me and go on family vacations all over the country. Dr. Georgia Wolfe REFUSED to do the emergency C section unless she could spay her too. Without ever even seeing her and knowing anything about her. She is perfectly healthy but being a bully breed needed a c section. Extremely unethical at the fact that she would rather the mother and puppies die, then make more money to spay her. Our beautiful, energetic, smart little Luna ate the tips off several Easter Lily leaves on Easter, and threw them up about an hour later, which was my fault because I didn't know that they were toxic to cats. However, even though she seemed fine, on advice from Pet Poison helpline I took her to MedVet Mobile for treatment. I knew it would be costly, but that was no problem. The vet there explained the treatment almost word for word as Pet Poison helpline did, seemed confident, and never discussed risk. An hour later our beloved kitty was dead. She "kind of woke up during the procedure and aspirated charcoal ". We have been heartbroken. Will not take another animal there. read more

Medvet Mobile is a place you go out of necessity not necessarily because you would recommend them. They are the only vet in my area available on the weekends. That being said, I have visited there 3 times with the same dog. First time my great Danes toe nail ripped out on Thanksgiving. While there was help and they did stop the bleeding they waited to care for him for 1.5 hrs all because I had asked if the antibiotic could be a written scrip vs them filling because they were changing me $175 for a $30 scrip I could get from his vet the next day. I do appreciate them taking care but their urgency was concerning since they had told me he was close to have bleed to death and potential need for a transfusion. Then we move to this weekends events. My dog had symptoms of bloat so I drove over 45 minutes to get him there. He was dehydrated from vomiting so much and they told me just as much when we arrived. We were there for 3.5hrs. The doctor did x-rays and told me he wasn't quite at bloat but wanted to use a tube to drain pressure off his stomach to prevent. They told me twice they were going to give him fluids for dehydration through the process as they were going to need to sedate him. they sent me home that night telling me to buy him gas-x and watch him. The next day the vomiting and symptoms came back so I went back up there. A new doctor met me and said he wanted to do x-rays again and let me know I had a choice to make....a surgery with no guarantee he could make it or lay him to rest. That doctor told me he felt the night before was bloat and it was a worse version of the day before that he was seeing and that he was severely dehydrated. I asked him if the night before if they had given him fluids, got an itemized bill as well to also confirm, and he let me know the nurses that were there the night before confirmed no fluids were given to the dehydrated pup. He agreed that was not proper handling. I appreciated the honesty of this doctor but it doesn't help the fact that I had to lay my dog to rest. by no means would the fluids have changed an outcome of bloat but they certainly could have made him more comfortable and less ill. it could have decreased the progression. Imagine you or a family member going into the doctor dehydrated and unable to talk to them and them not provide you water. I would have to say there would be a problem with that....I believe the same expectation of care should be provided to animals. I left having paid a mortgage payment without my pup, without the proper care, and with a broken heart. I am not saying don't go there, I am saying be cautious and get validation. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Dr. Bufkin messed up my puppy's surgery by doing surgery to BOTH legs I instead of one. The leg that didn't need surgery got infected and they said we had to cut it off or put her down. Not shortly after the appointment we had to request emergency surgery only to come to the conclusion everything of the surgery failed and we had to put her down. If she wouldn't have gotten both legs "fixed" she would still be living. read more

MedVet was the only place open (thankfully) or we would have had no where to take our baby after he was poisoned by our neighbor! They SAVED our beloved baby!! These other reviews complain about them being money hungry and that's ridiculous. it's an emergency room and the only place open 24/7 with Dr's on site the entire time. What did y'all expect?!! The Dr was amazing, the nurses even more wonderful. They called me at every step and twice a day while my baby was there. They are expensive but this was told to us up front when we brought in our little Chug who was in pain from a blocked urinary tract. Our regular vet could not see him and by the time night time arrived he was in severe pain. I could not wait on the chance of them seeing him the next day which was the weekend. The staff was great, the doctor was great and they got him through the night and the weekend. We got him to our vet and he ended up needing the surgery to remove a lot of stones but he is all better now and I credit Medvet for helping him make until his surgery. Do not take your animal here. I went there because I knew my cat had a blockage and they said nothing was wrong and it was just stress. The next day I take my cat to a different vet and they said his bladder was full of bacteria and they needed to start the procedure immediately. I get medvet is the only overnight vet in the area but they are way too expensive and try to milk you for your money. Would not recommend. But then wanted more money without refunding the overcharge. I was then bribed that no care could be given until more money was paid. When I came home, my sweet little boy Nedan (male cat) was not acting himself. Usually he greets me with meows and purrs, however when I opened my door he was just sitting there completely out of it. He didn't want me to pet him and he was grunting and wheezing and was short of breath. Of course this scared the ever loving mess out of me. I took him to MedVet and they immediately took him in to examine him. Dr. Kyle Rolfe was the doctor who examined my sweet boy. Dr. Kyle was very informative and thought of all the possibilities of what could be wrong. He told me veterinarian clinics that would be best to go to that were in my area, after visiting MedVet. He gave Nedan fluids and not soon after my Nedan was back to playing, purring, meowing, and loving on me. This is an emergency clinic so of course the upfront fee is a little pricey, which is understandable. $175 isn't much when it comes to an emergency with your animal. I would highly recommend MedVet and I highly recommend Dr. Kyle as the doctor to go to. Thank you so, so much Dr. Kyle. I give the staff five stars for being friendly. They took my Boston Terrier right in and were gentle and friendly with her. In my opinion, this place is about max profit. They are extremely high in price and will not work any kind of payment plan or do anything without a lot of money upfront. You will spend 130.00 just walking in the door. My dog got into poison. I was quoted 900-1400 for overnight stay. As hard as it was, I decided to just take her home, monitor her, and comfort her the best I can. OK so I called this place around 11:00 PM I spoke to a lady name Alyssa and I told her that my dog had got into a fight and was possibly shot in the face with a gun. I told her that I had the $178 for the office visit, but she told me that unless I had the total amount for the entire office visit, I could not bring my dog in my dog was sitting here bleeding from the nose in the mouth, so unfortunately I could not take my dog to the 24 hour emergency vet so luckily also my dog made it through the night and I was able to take him to our local vet so when I called back the next morning to speak to a manager to spoke to her because she answered the phone and I asked her why she done that and she tried to tell me that that was just their policy so I waited a few hours later and called back and spoke to a manager and apparently that was not the policy and as long as we had that $178 they could've seen our dog so I'm just writing this review because I don't want this to ever happen to someone else, and I did complain on her but as long as you do have your office visit, they will gladly see your dog read more

I had an amazing experience with MedVet Mobile. My dog had severe gastrointestinal problems from both ends with blood. I was not home so my roommate brought my pup in. I called when she was on her way and gave them all the info. Before I even went too far they told me the minimum cost for the visit. When my roommate got there, they knew who he was and took him right back for vitals. They were super busy because they were getting pets from Pensacola since they were full. They were upfront about that and told us it would be a long wait since he wasn't critical and had stable vitals. Every hour a nurse would come and update us on his condition. They apologized for the wait explaining that the triage process goes to most critical pets first. When the vet finally got a chance to come in, he explained everything to me and told me costs of everything giving me all of my options. I opted to leave him there over night and they let me have a visit with him before leaving him. As a 22 year old girl, I was pretty hysterical seeing his condition, but they provided comfort to me saying they would keep a close eye on him. I received updates via phone call on his condition (how much he ate, any bowel movements, activity status, etc) and detailed discharge papers. Of course, it was pretty costly but that would be expected from any emergency service. The cost was 100% worth it for the peace of mind knowing he was in good hands! read more

I can't say enough about this amazing staff. My little Bama got into some sugar free gum. I had no idea there was an ingredient that was toxic "Xylitol". The reaction from this is horrifying. MedVet was recommended by my vet. From the time they got him from my car, I received numerous calls giving me updates on his condition. This included staff and the Dr. He spent the night and they continued updating me throughout the next day. I was in panic mode from the beginning, but as I realized how dedicated they were to help Bama, I knew he was in the BEST hands. I will forever be grateful to them. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED PET HERE! My fur baby which is a 15 yr old 7lb Yorkie was badly dehydrated after going over a care plan that had to be paid before I could get anything done of $1550.00 which was fluids, blood work, X-rays, ultrasound and the stay. He was admitted at 3am by 6am they are calling me that he's in renal failure and if no improvement needed to be euthanized. OK well let's see how he does, then by 4 PM I got a call from another doctor that said there was just a little improvement that they felt like he probably needed to be euthanized and give him pain meds. So I told them I wanted him to stay until the next a.m. which they called me at 6 AM the next morning told me I needed to come and get him by 8 AM because there is no doctors there during the day, ONCE AGAIN the doctor recommended him being urbanized and there was no change so I asked him to be transferred to my local vet which we did. once at my Vet they immediately had to change out his IV because it was not working so he didn't get the fluids he needed and on top of that the pain medicine they gave him was fentanyl 50mg for a 7 pound Yorkie. Please do not take your animal here unless you want them to euthanize them that's their only option obviously they must get paid for however many animals that they euthanize. read more

We came in for a poisoning scenario where our dog needed to have her stomach pumped and treated immediately. Called ahead and did everything they asked for before arriving. We dropped her off and MedVet gave the impression they were treating her immediately. After an hour and a half we called and they had only placed her in a kennel to wait for the vet. No treatment. In my opinion, this facility isn't really an emergency vet, just a 24 hour place that takes advantage of people needing care after hours. read more

When you and your pet are faced with an emergency situation, go here. Your pet is in good hands at MedVet Mobile. I brought George, my French bulldog, to this clinic after he swallowed part of his stuffed animal toy. While on surface level, the problem appeared to be ingestion of a foreign object, MedVet identified a more serious congenital abnormality. George is 2.5 years old with a history of difficulty feeding and vomiting. We chalked it up to him being a picky eater and never thought to look further. X-rays revealed a diaphragmatic hernia that he was born with, where parts of his stomach, intestines, and even part of a kidney were outside of where they should be pressing on his lungs. Surgery was scheduled the next morning, and one day post surgery George is safe and sound back at home with me. MedVet communicated with me prior to any decisions being made regarding George's care plan, before and after surgery, and throughout his recovery day. We were discharged with clear instructions for how to take care of George at home while he recovers. Great experience from start to finish. MedVet has significantly improved George's quality of life, and I am so grateful. Thank you to Dr. Maertans, Dr. Bufkin, and all the medical staff at MedVet for taking such great care of George. We had to put our lab "Bo" to sleep 09/21. We paid for a single cremation. But, they put him a communal cremation. They NEVER even called us!! I called them two weeks later to find out. They refunded our money to prevent a law suit. So, where's my dog Medvet? No body? No cremation? They also keep removing this post for obvious reason. I would agree with a previous poster that if I could give negative reviews MedVet would receive a negative five stars. I was sent to them on Saturday after I was informed by a vet closer to my home that my cat had a bowel obstruction and needed emergent surgery. When I arrived I was informed that the surgeon was not working or on call during the weekend. I asked if the vet that was working performed surgery and was informed that because she didn't normally perform surgery she would not be helping us. This place was absolutely awful. The receptionist was also rude and acted like my questions were a nuisance and she was too busy to try and help me. read more

When I couldn't pay the $1900 up front for my fur baby, they gave her back and didn't do anything for her. I told them I had $900 to spend if they could just do the absolute necessity, instead of doing that I was told that if I couldn't do all of it then it wouldn't help her. they Wouldn't even check her bloodwork or give her IV fluids for her dehydration, instead they charged me $250 for placing an IV and evaluation (never gave fluids or took blood) and gave her back for me to follow up with my vet! The ladies at the desk and vet assistant were very kind, but the vet was not very concerned to me. I will NEVER visit them again. They're more concerned about all or nothing! read more

It's a shame that this emergency clinic is all about just how much money you're willing to pay to help your pet. I had one of my dogs there for a venomous snakebite and was asked if money was an issue because I vetoed a couple things they wanted to do to her (and they had a list printed out a mile long) and later, when the charges just kept on coming and I was questioning why they kept adding more charges since my dog was stable and did not need antivenom {thank God) I was asked was asked if I loved my dog. When I finally got in touch with my personal vet he told me to get my dog out of there and to him asap which I did. There were charges added that I didn't authorize and refused to pay....they removed them when I questioned what they were for. I realize they are an emergency clinic and you expect to pay premium prices but my experience was very unpleasant and felt like a complete shakedown. I hope and pray that I never have to use MedVet again, it would most definitely be the last resort. read more

I had an amazing experience with MedVet Mobile. My dog was experiencing vomiting and diarrhea with a lot of blood and acting lethargic which of course made me fear the worse. Once we got over to MedVet they had us seen quickly and the doctors and nurses were so kind and explained his diagnosis within 20 minutes of taking him. My dog ended up staying the night and we got 3 calls from the doctors over the next 24 hours updating his status. They also encouraged us to call whenever we wanted for an update. We were able to pick my dog up the following evening and they took exceptional care in explaining the treatment plan to us. He was like a new pup once we got him back. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the overall price for the visit and was amazing it wasn't twice the amount. For everyone who complains about the price, you have to think that these are trained medical professionals at a 24-hour facility. I couldn't even imagine the bill for similar treatment on a human. The price was more than fair and we even got a partial refund from the price charged at drop off.
