The small lake is right next to the highway, and offers birdwatching, non-motorized boating, primitive camping, and fishing. While not a premier fishing lake, Camel's Hump can offer an angler a variety of species in a single day: largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, catfish, and walleye are all found here. Most fish are small, but there's a few lunkers in there I'm sure. The shoreline wrapped in cattails, redwing blackbirds, wading birds and waterfowl make this a good spot to have a quick picnic along the side of the highway. There are lots and lots of small lakes and reservoirs in NoDak like this one, but that doesn't make it any less nice to stop in and take an hour or two to slow down.

We went on…read morea two hour ride which took us out on beautiful rugged dusty trails that led to spectacular views of the Theodore Roosevelt Library, Medora and the Badlands. It was surreal to ride out and soak up every moment of this vast land! Abby is welcoming, patient and a professional equestrian who values safety first. We appreciated all the photographs she took of us on the trail and she gave us insight about the local culture and history. We could not have asked for a better trail guide/wrangler. Also as a "horse person" I deeply appreciated how healthy and happy these horses are. They are well cared for that is for sure. We learned that many horses stay here for years, are not over worked and retire with dignity. I highly recommend the two hour ride, it was a deeply meaningful experience!

Piper was very personable and kept up steady conversation. The horses are well mannered, all with their own little quirks. It was nice that our wrangler knows the individual horses well enough to give us a heads up. For example, at the end of the ride there's a wide short bush that the horse I had insists on walking through. It wasn't dangerous, and it's just his preference and gives him a little joy, he scratches his belly on it. Piper knew the horses well enough she gave me a heads up so I wasn't surprised. Beautiful views.

We planned a road trip just to visit the north and south entrances of this park. It did not disappoint. It is a natural spectacle of beauty, nature and buffalo! It's like the Badlands and Yellowstone had a baby. Things I didn't see in many of the national parks that we have visited -the cap stones, mushrooms, and cannon balls. So many beautiful Buffalo up close and personal. We were also lucky enough to see the wild horses along with many prairie dogs and a solo coyote having an afternoon rest under a Cottonwood tree. The two entrances are about 60 miles apart (and do not connect to one another), but worth the drive. Make the trip!

Now, the greens are closed and your playing to a cup and a flag in the fareway. No greens at all. It is a disaster out here. If I could give this place zero stars I would. They have poured so much fertilizer to it the entire course is scorched or dead. I don't know who the greens keeper is but they don't have a clue and have ruined this entire golf course in a single season. When I spoke to them at the clubhouse they are simply unapologetic about the situation. I will not be returning to this course for atleast 2-3 years because that's how long it's going to take to fix it IF they shut it completely down and have a professional company come in that specializes in golf courses and hand them an open checkbook. Yes, it's this bad, truly. I have to update my review and drop my rating to 2 stars and that's pushing it. This course is a disaster this year as the grounds are in absolutely horrible condition. A ton of weeds, Dead grass everywhere. All but two of the greens are completely unplayable, covered with sand and what's not covered in sand is covered in weeds. So Sad to see what was once a perfectly manicured course fall into such a state. Ave your money, you will be highly dissatisfied if you god this course this year.
