I will never go to this place, went terrible down lately with the customer service . Stoped by today to ask question about David Yurman earrings . First thing saleswoman working there looked at her clock , it was 7 minutes before the store closing . Another thing, she assumed that I can't afford DY gold earrings, and stated high prices of very few available yellow gold DY earrings. She hasn't made any efforts to take the earrings out of the glass display to show them to me . I wish some other jewelry store like Sissy's Log Cabin has license to sell DY jewelry in Memphis. Awful experience. A true shark tank feeling. Moreover, unprofessional and sloppy. They did not return emails, were unclear and untransparent on the phone when asked about a ring to be custom made (a several-thousand dollar project), transferring me from one person to the next, and they were then overly servile in person in the store. ln the email conversation they informally replied without salutation line or closing line, abruptly short and just alltogether unwelcoming and unfriendly. Not what one expects from A) the jewelry business and B) a big name like Mednikow. We ended up bringing our project to the family owned business DeAngelis jewelers, which proved to be the polar opposite of the pretentious, over prized and unprofessional Mednikow. read more

I have a lovely David Yurman pave diamond ring that needed to have a diamond replaced. I didn't buy the ring there but I was told they are the only place in Memphis that sells David Yurman. I don't know if that is true, but I figured it was my best bet on having it fixed. (They asked me if I bought it from them, which I didn't, and I don't know how the turnout would have been different if I had.) Anyways, they fixed my ring for me for $39...a little pricey I think, for one teensy tinsy diamond...especially since I bought the ring for $600...but they were very nice and did a great job. And it took about 2 weeks for them to do it. I suppose the thing that comes down to jewelry stores is that you have to go somewhere that you trust. And I certainly trust them. read more

If I could give Mednikow zero stars I would. Dropped off a ring to be resized. After measuring my finger, they told me I needed to go down 1/4 size for fit. Big mistake, but one that could be corrected. The mistake that couldn't be corrected was polishing my ring (without my permission) and completely ruining the vintage finish (it was roughed out by a custom jewelry maker). The ring is now completely unwearable and cannot be replaced. read more

These people hate their jobs. Well, everyone except the one salesman on the floor (the rest were saleswomen) and the guard in the parking lot. Those two guys were smiling and friendly to everyone who came in. Everyone else appeared to have been sucking lemons. When a customer enters what I suppose is considered a high-end jewelry store for Memphis, they should expect to be greeted with smiling faces. I was having work done on a watch that came from Mednikow so that is why I went there. However, if the staff would have seemed more friendly, I would have shopped while waiting. If they weren't enthusiastic about selling, why should I be enthusiastic about shopping with them? They did complete the work I needed in a timely fashion while I waited AND the two gentlemen were nice so I am giving them a middle of the road score of three stars. read more

I have loved Mednikow ever since I got my first david yurman piece back in 2009. However, it wasn't until I moved out to east Memphis that I really started to appreciate them even more. I have become very OCD when it comes to my jewelry and they always take such great care of it! They have cleaned my ring, mended my broken bracelet, and recently made my almost black Tiffany's necklace look just as shiny as the first day I got it! I love that they can steam it right on the spot, or send it away for a deep clean that usually takes about 2 weeks. When it comes to the staff, they are all so kind and charming...even the security guard who opens the door for you! The staff is also very knowledgable when it comes to all things jewelry. First off I wanted an engagement ring by Maevona. They are the only place in the area to carry them. I was up from with the saleslady and told her my budget for a diamond was about 20000. I told her the range of the weight of the diamond that I wanted and the clarity/cut range. For some reason she wanted to sell me something of lower quality than what I wanted. I decided to buy a diamond somewhere else and buy the setting from them. She actually acted a bit angry with me. Luckily for me she was not there when I picked up my ring but everyone else in the store was extremely helpful and professional. I discovered Yelp a year or so ago but use it now on a fairly regular basis, primarily to get reviews on restaurants that we want to try. I've been are reader, but not a contributor, until now. I recently created my account and this is my first review... My wife and I don't buy a lot of jewelry, but we generally buy pretty good pieces when we buy from a jewelry store (maybe something really nice every couple of years). We have been using another local jeweler, but Mednikow seems to be the only place in Memphis that has a good selection of David Yurman jewelry. A few years ago, my wife bought a piece from them. The salesperson was knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful. Overall a pleasant purchasing experience. Several months ago a clasp broke on one of my wife's silver bracelets. Given the positive experience we had previously with Mednikow, and the fact that our previous jeweler had moved to a new location, my wife thought that she would try Mednikow for the repair. She took it to them, and unfortunately, did not ask for an estimate for the repair. When she was notified that it was ready to be picked up, she found out that the repair was $300. We purchased this bracelet from an estate sale for $125 (in 2008 I believe) and were shocked to see the cost of the repair. I went by the store and spoke to a very pleasant young lady about it. I explained that the repair was more than twice what we paid for the piece. I also acknowledged that we probably could have asked for a quote, but shouldn't they have called with a repair estimate like that before repairing a lower end piece of jewelry. She said that she would talk to the owner it and get back with me. A few days later she called back and indicated that the owner said, and I'm paraphrasing: "we have excellent jewelers and that $300 is the price of the repair". That was all he had to say?? Whether or not the owner thinks that he is in the right, I was somewhat surprised by the short, terse response, by the lack of concern that a returning customer might be a little upset at the outcome, and a little bit by the fact that the owner didn't contact me directly. At least convey something like "I'm really sorry for the misunderstanding". I went by and paid the 300 plus dollars to get the bracelet back, but the whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. It's not as much about the money as it is about how it was handled. I expected better. We won't be using Mednikow again, for anything. read more

Came in looking for a specific piece of jewelry that I knew they carried. Upon arriving we were told the ring was available but they didn't have any with an actual stone set in it to show and if we decided to purchase the ring would have to be sent out to have a stone placed in it - that is until my now ex and I presented cash, which all of a sudden many, many, MANY pieces already set were brought out in all shapes, sizes, colors and cut...me thinks our being black had a lot to do with this but, in the end we were looking for this specific piece and this was the only place in Memphis that had it at the time. $10K later I received the ring I wanted and left very satisfied - with my jewelry of course. Now would I shop here again? No, and after giving it some thought I realized we should have just left and went elsewhere but hey we were young and what's done is done. Going forward I wouldn't recommend this place to a family member, friend or associate. Went with a friend to Mednikows today. We were dressed less than stellar because we thought we would do yard work. Instead, after lunch, we decided to go shopping. We went into Mednikows, which was empty, walked around for almost 20 minutes. The sales staff stood at the back of the store just talking and laughing. They did spring to life if a young yuppy looking woman came in the store. But not once did they ask us if we need help. We finally left and went to Peter Poole's Jewelers where the staff was wonderful. I know it doesnt matter to you Mednikow but my friend bought a diamond bracelet and Diamond and Sapphire earrings and ring for over $16,000. I spent a measley $7,000. Maybe you staff doesn't need to judge customers by their appearance, but assist EVERYONE. SHAME ON YOU!!!!! My boyfriend and I have been looking for an engagement ring with an emerald stone. We have gone to the finer jewelry stores in the area but had not visited Mednikow yet. We are in our thirties and as soon as we entered, I felt like we were not taken seriously and we were shown very poor emeralds that were not at all clear, were very milky, and had serious inclusions. I did not think the sales associate listened to our request for our style or tried to present to us an emerald of even decent quality. I was very disappointed and will use Sissy's Log Cabin around the corner instead. read more
