Intolerance & inhumanity throughout history, which remains applicable today in this country & around the globe. The graphic depictions are cerebral & visceral. The tour includes a recorded audio feature that explains every display. No time limit. The tiny art section is available. Fascinating work, but really not that interesting. I saw the sign on this place just randomly walking by and I knew I wanted to go check it out. I've always been fascinated by the acts of people and their feelings of self-righteousness and this museum was a fantastic way to look into the past in an educational way. The scenery inside is macabre and true to form in order to present the methods factually and realistically. Some of the exhibits allow some interaction, which was a nice touch, and there are no jump scares or anything of the sort, which I appreciated. Great place to check out on your tours! If you have a sensitive stomach, try coming BEFORE you have eaten! ;) read more

Don't trust the good reviews...I really don't know how these people thought this was worth $13 let alone 5 stars on Yelp... I also never post unless i really want to boost a company for how good they were, but I just had to give a PSA for this one. I want to start off by saying that the only reason i didn't give them 1 star was because the staff was very very nice...they were actually the reason we decided to go in. Pretty immediately I noticed that not ONE "torture device" had a description as to how it was used. Yea, some were obvious but most were not at all. On top of that, the only descriptions they did have were seemingly unimportant to that display. For instance, it would say "this was one of the most painful and it originated in China," without any indication as to how it was used or why it was so much worse than others. Another issue is the quality. Without a better description, I would say it is comparable to a high school low budget theater project. There was fake blood carelessly splattered places, random posters that didn't match the display, and once again, not one description to how or what the devices were used for. There is a LOT of updating they need to do for it to be worth even $10. read more

Here in town for our Anniversary this was my husbands pick out of a few Groupons I showed him. They had a very impressive display of torture devises for viewing. We used the recommended audio tour on our phone and that was extremely informative. Each room and display has many audio clips explaining the device and its history. Sometimes a story was told about who it was used on and their crime. These are gruesome displays and stories using lifelike mannequins and not the best place to take young children. We had a blast and cringed more than once. read more

Went here because when I saw it I told my fiancé we just had to go check it out. Once inside I instantly regretted (not in a bad way) but love it at the same time. It's incredibly interesting and horrifying to see how things were done back in the day. This museum does an absolutely amazing job showing you how it was done. And the cashier in the front who was new, was the most helpful and sweet person we ran into on our trip. It's definitely a must see if you are in downtown!!!!! read more

I was really excited to go to the torture museum because I like seeing unique and interesting things. They have the right props. Very nice ones and a cool vibe. But every other aspect is lacking. There are no descriptions of how the devices were used, and alot of them are unlabeled. Large majority of labels just say who received punishment and where in the world used them. Also, I saw some of the same devices with the same "descriptions" multiple times throughout the exhibit, yet other devices lacked labels and real descriptions. I think it can be improved substantially. It seems like all effort went into aesthetics and zero effort into providing factual and interesting information to the guests. read more

Gruesomely amazing! I was so excited to finally visit this exhibit. If you have the stomach for it, dive right in. It was totally worth the ticket price. My favorite part was the bull... You'll see what I mean when you get there. It had to be one of the most interesting and terrifying museums I've ever been to. Nothing jumps out thank God, but the models were so elaborate and gruesome we felt sick coming out. Highly recommend for those who can handle it! Especially if you like to read or watch shows about early history or GoT. Loved it loved it loved it! I purchased Groupon tickets for this museum! Best thing I've did! Guys definitely get the museum tickets with the audio guide! First things first: THE MUSEUM IS HUGE! Totally didn't expect that but it's HUGE! The audio guide is great and you can still use it after you leave the museum since it's on the website! Perfect for people who need to add vlogs! It tells you all the stories about every little detail inside the museum and the torture which was done! History and everything! I think I was in there for 1 1/2 hours cause it was so interesting. It's definitely more on the horror side of things so if you are into these type of things you will love it! Would totally go there again and again! The collection was very interesting and somewhat disturbing all in one. People sure were sick in the ways they tortured other people. This place is not recommended for kids, that's for sure. We skipped the microscopic art part of the place, so we can't comment on it. I think they need a little better lighting for the exhibits as it was kind of dark in there. read more

What a great way to cool off in the heat of the summer. It was very cool. The little recordings that they give you to use as you walk through to inform you about all the devices was very useful. This self guided exhibit of a private collection of medieval era torture devices and tools was exactly what you'd expect: eerie yet fascinating. This was definitely not a boring walk through history! At about $14 admission per adult, it showcased quite an extensive assortment of torture apparatuses including the guillotine, Chastity belts, quartering table, prayer cross, the pear, witch weighing scale, flaying tools, shackles, clamps, shame masks, donkey, wheel, and much more. Many rooms were laid out with unique demonstrations and to scale scenes of how several of the more sinisterly famous torture devices worked. Visited the museum on Sunday, 09/15/19. Wife and I approved of the museum. I'm not sure if I want to say we had a "great" time because real people, and probably innocent ones, were truly tortured. The capacity of man to inflict pain onto man was very evident. Credit goes to the museum creators who provided the experience. I would soon like to see the museum expand into a wing of modern day tortures. However, I think the building can't handle the expansion. Glad this museum is not in Vegas. Wonderfully done, I'm a big fan of history and after visiting a chain museum much to our disappointment my husband and I decided to look for another museum in town and happened upon the Medieval Torture Collection on Yelp. The gentleman who sold us the tickets was very informative and friendly. Upon entering there is a very eerie atmosphere with light music and sounds effects. This is not for the faint of heart but worth a visit if you're in town especially if you're a fan of history go visit this museum. I would imagine during Halloween it adds to the already creepy vibe. read more
