And no, it's not because she had any procedures pending. I called to speak to her care team, which they failed to speak to me or call me back and admitted to throwing my number away. I have her medical power of attorney, which they have on file. She had been in patient for seven days, and had yet to have any bathing services and had not had dental cleaning (ie brushing of teeth) in over four days. If this was a provider that was in home or a family member, this would be considered neglect and criminal. So not let your loved ones get "care" at this facility or at affiliated doctors. .

In March 2025, I fell off of a tree that collapsed onto my house and seriously injured my hip. I had a bulge sticking out of my hip about 6 inches and I could not put pressure on my left foot. The pain was horrible and my wife took me to this Emergency Room (as it was only 5 minutes from my house, very convenient). After multiple treatments for pain and xrays, the doctor told my wife and visiting church members that I either broke my hip or that my left leg came out of socket (due to the swelling and temporary disfigurement. Later, an MRI determined that I had a deep bone contusion. As we visited that Emergency Room in the past, paying no more than a Tricare covered co-pay, this hospital was always convenient - until I received a bill for $3,844.61. I informed Jack Hughston that I had both VA insurance and Tricare to cover the costs Jack Hughston then informed me that VA and Tricare covered their parts of the insurance and I still owed them $3,844.51. I informed my wife that, no matter how bad I am injured in the future, we will not go to this hospital (5 minutes from my home) ever again but, instead, drive to the Fort Benning Emergency Room (35 minutes away). This was hands-down the worst hospital experience I have ever seen. They just treated and streeted…read moremy mother-in-law, who should not have been discharged so soon (less than 24 hours) after surgery. They ignored her pain and swelling, refused to help with her shoes, or even with toileting, so that she returned home with soiled clothes. We contacted a patient advocate and tried to ask for short term rehab, in order to restore her strength and confidence, to no avail. Her nurse was in tears, telling us this is not a safe discharge. Even the person pushing her wheelchair out said they aren't allowed to push out someone who can't stand on their own - but they did. I will never use this hospital again and will share our experience online as far as possible.

We were removed from a waiting room that was barely occupied. There was plenty of space. There was no valid reason to turn away a grandmother who simply wanted to be close to her family during one of the most significant moments of her life. What Piedmont Midtown fails to understand is that childbirth is a family event. My son, the father, needed support just as much as his wife. That support doesn't stop at a waiting room door. Keeping family nearby is not a privilege -- it is basic human decency. I missed the birth of my first grandchild because of a rule enforced by people who showed zero regard for what that moment means to a family. No apology. No flexibility. No heart. If you are planning to welcome a baby at this hospital, know that your family may be treated as an inconvenience rather than a part of the experience. I would not wish this heartbreak on any grandmother, any father, or any family. My grandchild arrived into the world and I was not there. Piedmont Midtown made sure of that.
