I had a doctor at the ER that with all the tests done and the same info I shared, he did not give me the right antibiotic. I had a serious infection and high fever for a week and he doubled the antibiotics I had before I went to the ER... yes, and was charged 1k after insurance. Dr. Ortiz Saved another trip to the emergency room or something worse. I would take a good doctor even if it meant having to deal with some issues with the staff, it might just be uncomfortable to be in that position if you are in need of efficient staff. If you are, the manager resolved my issues when they were escalated, she was kind and made sure everything was okay.

I have a fear of needles and have been treated coldly in the past by nurses that just want me to "hurry up, sit down, and realize it isn't going to hurt that bad." This was NOT my experience at the Women's Comprehensive Clinic for Internal Medicine! Bobby was kind and cheerful which did wonders for putting me at ease about my blood draw. She is very skilled at her craft. I was also impressed with Dr. Rosemary Castoreno. She takes a comprehensive approach to women's health concerns and does not seek to quickly write prescriptions and over-medicate patients, I loved this about her. She took time to listen to my concerns and made a little extra time available for her staff to draw my blood, given I was so nervous about it. The location is very convenient to Joint Base San Antonio as well as I-35 and 281. They have only been in this location for three weeks but are off to a great start!

(This will also be pushed back if the opening provider is late) I know what you guys are doing, your overbooking. So you can get the most amount of patients seen in a day to turn the most amount of revenue (claims) for the owners at the patients times expense. Its terrible, and people in the area put up with it cause they don't know any better. I've been in healthcare for a long time and seen all sides. This is wrong. I even had to go into Dr. Saloum's office twice to watch his staff forward my info to surgeons as it would sit on the desk for days....even a week once. Initially, the hodgkin's lymphoma was only in my chest...by the time I started treatment, it was in my neck too. The amazing staff at the START Center for Cancer Care had called the office DAILY for exactly a week and Dr. Saloum's office would not answer. One time I called and the receptionist said they had just spoken with the START center and sent all my information over.....the next morning, Ann from the START center called me to say she hadn't been able to get ahold of anyone at Saloum's office. If I hadn't been persistent, and my boss hadn't let me leave work to watch Dr. Saloum's staff do their job, who knows if I'd have made it to treatment in time. They were completely indifferent to my situation. The staff and Dr. Saloum literally doesn't care that you're dying. Go. Elsewhere.

My insurance requires pre-approval for this medication. About a week later I received a rejection notice from my insurance because the DR. office did not respond to their request for more information. I contacted the office and was assured that they would follow up and get it taken care of. They never did. I also requested a copy of my lab results. They e-mailed a copy and when I reviewed it I noticed that my PSA was elevated. I made an appointment with a Urologist. A biopsy was done and a diagnosis of prostate cancer was made. I have since had surgery to remove the prostate, To date, 2-21-2019, I have yet to receive a call from Dr. Saloum's office informing me of an abnormal lab result. If you are a current patient at this practice, RUN. Find another Dr. before you have a serious health problem because you will never here from these people if you do. If you are considering this practice as your primary care, keep looking. These people do not care about your health. They are just there for the money.

He takes time to listen to your symptoms, cares about your health and wellbeing, and (gasp) tends to be very timely. Added pluses are his location (I work downtown and often walk to/from his office), it is easy to get in to see him, and billing/admin stuff has never been an issue. If you are looking for primary care, I highly recommend Zarate Medical Group, in particular Rudy Zarate.

I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes in the waiting room and they don't leave to alone too long in the exam room, which is nice.
