This created a big problem for many who were properly trained and certified who graduated with legitimate professional nursing and medical career degrees. The school was properly accredited and put a lot of very well trained individuals out in the healthcare community. Unfortunately the legal issues the school ran into created large problems for the certified graduates to continue education and move up in their career. It is really a shame that so many students worked so hard and were cheated out of the credit and continued documentation and certification for their years of education. Olympia no longer exists and now is Everest college. The main school was called Corinthian Colleges. I hope the graduates that were students of the term with 4.0 gpa's were able to succeed beyond the devastating legal issues this school has had that failed their hard working, well trained and educated students.

Furthermore, it's nearly impossible to communicate effectively with a single representative, which only exacerbates the miscommunication issues. Although the online classes are relatively easy to follow, the ongoing billing problems overshadow any positives. The lack of clarity and support has made this experience more about managing confusing financial statements than enjoying my education. Overall, DeVry University needs to improve its communication and billing processes to avoid these issues for future students because it really just seems that they pressure people to join and then take advantage of them financially.

You will learn the material, but the organization, communication, and professionalism need significant improvement. It is not reflective of the medical field, training or professionalism required. For a fast-track CNA program lasting roughly two weeks, students need a reliable schedule and clear expectations. Instead, there were at least six last-minute schedule changes, many with less than 12 hours' notice, with most of these hours overnight. Examples include being told at 10:00 p.m. that a specific non-smart watch was required for 8:00 a.m. the next morning, extending the course several days over a holiday weekend shortly before class began, then changing the schedule again and ending early after students had already cancelled work or travel plans. There was also only one day of clinicals, which seems inadequate for such a hands-on field. Most concerning, students were publicly called out or embarrassed. One student's "punishment" for talking was being required to teach part of the class the next day. Paying students should be taught by the qualified instructor they enrolled with, not used as part of another student's punishment. An accelerated program requires flexibility, but students should still receive professional communication, advance notice of required supplies, adequate clinical experience, and a schedule that is respected.

One major issue is the way students' concerns are handled. Mrs. Ace has stated that anyone who writes a negative review will fail in the medical field and in her class. However, I passed her course and passed my CNA certification exam on my first attempt. Providing honest feedback does not determine a student's ability to succeed in healthcare. There were multiple situations where students were made to feel embarrassed, dismissed, or discouraged. For example, one student asked about a correction on a quiz question and attempted to explain her reasoning. Instead of discussing the concern professionally, Mrs. Ace refused to listen, repeatedly threatened to remove the student from the class, and the situation ended with the student crying. After discussing the same question with my father, who is a neurosurgeon, he agreed with the student's reasoning. This showed that the concern was valid and should have been addressed respectfully. Mrs. Ace frequently belittles students rather than creating an environment where they feel comfortable learning and asking questions. There is a difference between maintaining high standards and making students feel intimidated or disrespected. The biggest issue with this class is not the curriculum or clinical experience; it is the instructor's attitude, communication style, and treatment of students. A CNA program should prepare students for healthcare by encouraging professionalism, confidence, and respect.
