Looking at the overall rating here and some of the negative comments folks have posted, I have to…read morewonder if we are talking about the same company. My experience with Empire Today was very positive. I reached out to a number of companies and went with Empire Today because they had a short wait time, a good selection of products, and the price was within the budget I set based on my research. The salesperson they sent out, Bill was great. He was knowledgeable about their products and the process, gave me a heads up about the need to change products after the installation team inspects the floor, and was extremely responsive throughout. We did have to go with a different product after the floor was inspected, but once that was sorted, everything went smoothly and we were very happy with the result. The only thing I would have like to have seen done differently is that it would have been nice if the measurements to ensure that the floor was level enough for certain products could have been done during the sales visit. But compared to my past experiences of putting down flooring myself, or buying the material myself and having a handyman do it, this was so much quicker and easier. And compared to other flooring companies and other home improvement companies I've worked with the communication was far better than I expected.

I hired Empire Carpet to install new carpeting in my basement…read more The subs they used to install my carpets stole my credit card information and used my card to send money overseas. It was a brand new credit card and the only people to have handled the card are the installer and myself. Fortunately, my credit card company coveed the charges but when I reported this to Empire, they apparently did an investigation without any input from me and decided no fraud occured and closed the ticket (without telling me). EMPIRE IS STILL USING THE SUBS and this is a warning to anyone in the Twin Cities area that Empire DOES NOT CARE they are using criminals to install their carpet. Think twice before you buy from them.

I recently bought a house and needed to have the existing flooring removed and replaced with LVP,…read morealong with the existing hardwood floors refinished. After doing some research and reading the great reviews for John's Flooring, I decided to give John a call, and I'm so glad I did! John was able to meet with me that same week and brought samples for me to choose from. I also wanted a little extra padding under the LVP, which was no problem at all. A few weeks before the project started, I asked if he could also replace all the wood baseboards. He came out that same week to take measurements and promptly provided an updated quote. The pricing was fair, the quality of the work was excellent, and John kept me updated throughout the entire process by sending photos of the flooring installation and hardwood refinishing. The transformation was incredible! At first, I barely recognized my own basement because it looked so completely different. The hardwood floors had a faded spot, but after John refinished them, they looked brand new. John was professional, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I have another project coming up, and my first thought was to call John. I had such a great experience working with him the first time that I can't wait to work with him again. I would give John's Flooring a 10 out of 5 stars if I could! If you're looking for excellent workmanship, fair pricing, and someone who truly cares about the results, I highly recommend John's Flooring.

The floors themselves look great. The installers were professional and did quality work. I'm giving…read moreone star because the owner, Chad, cost me a significant and entirely preventable 30% budget overrun -- and he did it after I gave him multiple chances to get it right. Here's what happened: Chad visited our home three times before we signed. On his second visit, I pointed out that the subfloors were in rough shape and asked directly whether I should repair them. He told me not to worry about it. The weekend before installation, I sent him a video of the floors and said I was thinking about going to Menard's to pick up 1/4" plywood to cover the entire main floor. He called me and told me not to do that -- said it would be a waste of time and money. Monday morning, his installers walked in, looked at the subfloor, and immediately said it was in awful shape. Their recommendation? Go to Menard's and get 1/4" plywood to cover the whole floor. Exactly what I had proposed. They charged $25 per sheet of plywood plus $40 per sheet to install it. When it came time to settle up, I wrote two checks -- one for the agreed amount plus half the overrun, and a second check for the other half, with a note to Chad that he should only cash it if he felt it was fair for me to absorb the full cost of a problem he had twice told me wasn't a problem. He cashed both. I don't know if Chad was inattentive, undertrained, or simply not honest with me. What I do know is that the owner of a flooring company should be able to assess a subfloor. I flagged the issue twice -- once in person, once on video -- and was turned away both times. If you're considering Third Coast, insist on a written subfloor assessment before you sign anything, and get any scope-of-work promises in writing.

They also carry top grade flooring that I didn't find at some of the more well known flooring companies They address any issues I had (which were minor) immediately. They cleaned everything up after including mopping the floors. All debris hauled away. I had luxury vinyl plank flooring put in along with carpet and tile. Highly recommend them. Their prices are also very reasonable
