I have special needs regarding chiropractic, as I am unable to tolerate any force; even the activator tool Dr. Christian uses with me has to be turned way down. I therefore had considerable trepidation about switching practitioners. However, I am completely happy with Dr. Christian. His skill in using the activator is excellent, and his receptive personal style helps him to tune into how best to work with me. I always feel a LOT better after sessions. I've been going to their office on SE Stark St for many years and have found the administrative staff as well to be consistently efficient, warm and friendly. Even the chairs in the waiting room are super comfortable. I highly recommend the Chiropractic Life Center

Unlike chiropractors I've seen in the past, she doesn't just adjust my neck and back, and that's it. At various times she's worked on almost every joint in my body in addition to my spine: joints of the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and fingers, hips, knees, ankles, feet, and toes. After she worked on my temporal mandibular joint (TMJ), my left molars touch for the first time in my memory! Recently I went to see her after a dog ran into my knee at an off-leash dog park. Within hours I had so much pain in my knee I could barely walk. She worked on the knee and sent me home to ice it. The next day it was about 80% better. She said "This is why I love working on knees - they're so easy!" I have never in my life recovered from an injury so quickly. She is friendly and inviting (you don't even have to get undressed). But don't be deceived - under that relaxed exterior is a razor sharp, analytical mind at work unraveling the causes of the pain that brought you there. She is completely on top of her game. As a former health care professional, I know how important continuing education is in keeping a clinician sharp, and I am always impressed at the amount of time Dr. Crosby puts into study, classes, and courses. She appears to find it fun and fascinating. She has a real passion for her profession. Dr. Crosby is a truly gifted chiropractor. The only downside to seeing her is that you'll never want to see another chiropractor again.

If you care about your sanity, avoid this place. I have had an unbelievable number of issues with…read morethis office, and I've only physically been there once. From the beginning, communication was a nightmare. When I first called to schedule an appointment, I asked what I would pay for a typical PT visit. They collected all my insurance information, and I was told their insurance person was out and would get back to me the next day. She didn't. A week went by, and I still hadn't heard anything, so I had to call them myself. They still weren't sure what my cost would be. I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me, but they never did, so I had to keep calling for answers. On multiple separate occasions, I was verbally told my appointment would cost no more than $70. The day of my appointment, I called again and was told they needed my insurance information, despite already providing it. I gave it to them again and was told someone would get back to me shortly. Since my appointment was that day, I explained that I needed an answer within the hour so I could decide whether to attend. Again, no one called me back. As I was getting ready to leave, I called them myself for an update and was once again told the cost would be $70. I arrived 15 minutes early, only to be told at the front desk that my appointment had been canceled. When I asked why, considering I had spoken with someone less than 30 minutes earlier, no one could explain what happened. "Luckily," the physical therapist I was supposed to see still had availability, so they told me to go ahead with the appointment and complete the paperwork afterward. Because of their miscommunication, they weren't prepared for me until about five minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. While I waited, I could hear three front-desk employees discussing each other, other employees, and the office's lack of communication. It honestly explained everything. Before starting my appointment, I triple-checked that my cost would not be more than $70, and I was explicitly guaranteed that it would not be. I specifically asked multiple times because I wanted to be sure what I would be paying. The physical therapy appointment itself was fine. I have no complaints about the therapist personally. I left feeling relatively positive despite the chaos and even scheduled several additional weekly appointments. Then came the next week. Less than an hour before my second appointment, they called me. This was the only time throughout this entire process that the office proactively contacted me. The person handling insurance informed me that my appointments would actually cost $239.15. I was understandably furious. I explained that I had been told multiple separate times that my cost would be no more than $70. I tried very hard to resolve the situation and avoid having to pay the additional $169.15, but I was told there was no way around it. They weren't sure who had given me the incorrect information and said the issue was ultimately between me and my insurance. I understand that insurance is complicated and mistakes happen. What I don't understand is how I can provide my insurance information, repeatedly ask what I will owe, have to repeatedly call because they don't follow up, and then be verbally assured multiple times that my cost will be no more than $70--only to be told an hour before my next appointment that I owe an additional $169.15 for my previous appointment. I was also told that because I had signed the paperwork, I was responsible for the charge. The problem is that I signed the paperwork after my first appointment, after I had already been given the $70 estimate multiple times and proceeded based on that information. I ultimately paid the bill because I was told there was no other option, but I do not feel this was handled fairly. I tried very hard to avoid paying that amount and tried to resolve it with them, but they refused to take responsibility for repeatedly telling me my cost would not exceed $70. I canceled all my remaining appointments. The physical therapists may be good at what they do, but the administrative and customer service side of this office is incredibly poorly managed. The repeated misinformation, failure to follow up, constant need for me to call for answers, last-minute cancellation, and surprise bill were completely unacceptable. I genuinely feel bad for the therapists because the front office is doing them a huge disservice. Their communication and billing practices are turning away customers who otherwise may have continued treatment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

Both Docs and the massage therapists are wonderful, and I never had any problems until recently. My issues have been with the front office and billing. Last year, I clearly specified which card to charge, but the wrong card was used, causing my bank account to go negative and resulting in a fee. The charge was eventually corrected, but I was left dealing with the consequences. A few months ago, I again explained which card to use for my balance, but the wrong card was charged. I had already asked for that card to be removed after the previous issue. I am now receiving repeated emails and texts about payment, even though I have explained that I am out of town and will return at the end of September to pay in person. After the mistakes made, I do not feel comfortable paying by phone or text. It is disappointing because I really like the providers, but the front-office experience has changed my opinion of the practice. I have never refused to pay; I have only explained when and how I am comfortable doing so. I paid the service fee for another year and a week later this all started up. The communication has also felt very different and insincere lately, and I have even wondered whether being a person of color has affected how I am being treated. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously, and the aggressiveness stops because billing and front-office issues should not ruin an otherwise positive experience.

It was the most chaotic practice I've ever experienced. Sadly, not only did I not improve but on my last appointment he injured my elbow, which I later found would not improve with chiropractor adjustments because I had tennis elbow. I could not use my arm and it was very painful for three days. They do not value your time and this doctor does much more conversation than proper treatment. It takes a lot for me to decide to write a negative review-- and yet I hope to save others from…read moremaking the same mistake I made. I had an initial one-hour consultation with Dr Gedeon, and was presented a bill for over $1,000 at the end. I was stunned. I found Dr. Gedeon on the web, read her reviews and called for an appointment. I asked for information about her fees but was told, by what was clearly an answering service, that they had no information available. I don't like not knowing what I'm getting into, and had hoped that the initial client paperwork or her website would be of help, to no avail. I decided to go anyway, and figured I'd talk to her office staff. When I arrived the Dr took me into her treatment room (there is no lobby or office staff), and handed me additional paperwork. I asked about her fee schedule. She gave it to me and I read that the first appointment fee ranged from $330 to $780 (30-90mins). I tried to digest this, as I'd never paid fees like this for naturopathic care. I requested that we keep it on the lower end, as I was paying out of pocket, and wanted to be able to afford the treatment. Dr Gedeon is all business-- not warm or connecting, just thoroughly taking down the facts. I would not describe her as holistic-- she didn't seem to have any room for the emotional/spiritual aspects of health. Her forte is purely the physical body. I felt like I was in the office of an allopathic doctor-- she sat behind her laptop and took notes, never looked me in the eye, then took my blood pressure, heart rate and other vitals. At the end of the exam, she spent about 10 minutes writing a treatment plan while I waited-- it was awkward sitting there. Then she started handing me supplements- seven bottles in all, with quick descriptions of what they where. Then she handed me the bill. $1050! ($550 for the one hour exam, $500 for the supplements). I've been going to naturopaths in Portland for over 30 years, and I've NEVER been charged this much. I was in shock, and honestly didn't know what to do. I asked how an immune boosting tincture could cost $124, and she said it was "high quality". I was tongue tied. I wanted to protest the cost, hand back the supplements and walk out, yet I also honored her time and expertise and doubted myself-- maybe prices had really gone up? Maybe this is considered reasonable now? I paid the bill and walked out, with a knot in my stomach. The next day I wrote to the doctor and expressed my concerns about the supplements (she knew I was paying out of pocket, yet didn't even discuss the outrageous cost of what she prescribed), asked what I could expect to pay for the lab work she ordered, and how much future appointments and supplements would cost. It seemed like a fair request-- if I'm going to proceed with treatment, I want to know that I can afford it. Her reply to my email was cold and matter of fact-- she lacked empathy, didn't answer my questions about what future treatment and testing would cost, and didn't even sign the email. This email could have come from a form letter, as there was no personal connection at all. I replied that I would return the untouched supplements and find another practitioner. Her email back was, "you cannot return the supplements" and maybe you should apply for the Oregon Health Plan (which I clearly don't qualify for, and she would have known this had she listened to me during the appointment!) It's sad to me when any practitioner lacks the ability to understand what it's like to be a patient, trying to get good care at a reasonable price-- and having a naturopath like this is even worse. While I believe Dr Gedeon is a good doctor, I would suggest that only those with great health insurance that has naturopathic coverage (without a huge deductible) AND plenty of money for supplements consider working with her.
